Punks take over Mardi Gras, NOLA

    So this is kind of old/not too big of news but was in New Orleans around Mardi Gras (I didn't realize it was Mardi Gras until I got there). Anyway, to anyone who's ever seen it, it's kind of disgusting. Just in reference to the trash. There's tons of it, easily more than I've ever seen. City's awesome though.
    So one awesome thing that happened though, the punks there made their own float with a band playing on it, attached it to a truck, and we marched through the city streets. We went through some of the poorer neighborhoods and handed out flowers and stuff, got really good feedback from the people living there. Then one punk showed up driving a military troop transport and we marched towards Bourbon Street and blocked off a few streets with it. Blocked off traffic for quite a ways and had a punk show in the streets. Made the bros/whiteys uncomfortable. Cops came after a little while but didn't shut it down. It was cool.

    it's kinda expected for there to be shitloads of trash on the streets after an event like that. nothing but a bunch of drunks from what i understand. the bit about the punk float and stuff is awesome though. makes me with i coulda been there.
