Hello APN, I'm not only new to this site, but also new to the punk scene in general. The main reason i've joined is to learn and make sure I know what i'm fighting for before I fight for it. I don't want to be the guy who says he's an anarcho-punk, yet doesn't now what that means. I have enough knowledge to now that this is what I believe in, but not enough that I could make a decent arguement as to why I believe in it. Except for a small group of my friends, there is no punk scene where I live, only a bunch of overly-religious, trigger-happy redneck assholes. Once we're all out of school we're getting as far away as we can. Any tips on how to live on the road and/or nice places for some traveling punks to stop and chill out (in the US) would be awesome. Hopefully I can make a few friends while I'm learning and thanks for any advice that'll help us out . \m/
Well start with the question what does anarchism mean to you? You'll obviously develop your beliefs the more you read/experience/learn. Places to chill in the US near you (IMO) Milwaukee WI - (where I'm from, a lot of good hearted anarchists there) Worcester Massachusetts - urban farming projects, coops here and there, integrated communities New Orleans - really cool city, lots of punk squats. Not really that close to you I guess. Asheville NC - you can bum lots of money from rich tourists. Like lots Same with Charleston and Savanna which are both cool cities. Obviously that's only east side of US. I like Pennsylvania though for most part. The parts near NY are pretty. Only road tip I can think of is don't hitchhike into big cities like LA or NY or Chicago because it takes forever to leave. No one is ever going the way you want to go (that being out). Punk life should be about building positive community, through both networking and activism, where you go IMO. and WELCOME TO APN
