Hey so I'm doing some research into punk bands and scenes in Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan or Tajikistan. Anyone have any info or any suggestions of bands/sites I should check out?
I've heard there's some good DIY stuff in Kazakhstan but I'm pretty in-the-dark.
    Thanksh

    Interesting topic.

For Kyrgyzstan, I sugget the Ep comp "Bishkek is burning: underground Kyrgyzstan". Tajikistan has a compimation called "Sushanbe punkers and rockers" that can be found on the web as well. Uzbekistan has the "Paxta core: underground Uzbekistan" compilation in the same spirit as its Tajik counterpart.

I only know two things from Kazakhstan: the "Adaptasia / Bishara Valdar" split which is really good, especially if you are into old punk-rock from Siberia (think Spinki Menta or Grazdhanskaya Oborona) and even a very recent crust-punk band called Zhulong and it is really not that bad.

I think I have comps where there are bands from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran but they are more like indie rock bands than "proper" punk bands, which doesn't mean that the spirit of rebellion isn't here obviously.
