I just found this forum and found it to be pretty cool. I don't consider myself an anarchist, but I've always felt a certain affection for the movement. No, I'm not a dude that wears t-shirts with anarchy signs to look trendy and cool, I'm just a guy that loves punk rock, in all forms. So, while I don't consider myself an anarchist (although I'm not opposed to the movement), I love the music enough that it makes sense to understand the movements that influenced it. So, anyways, I figured I'd start with that admission to get that out of the way-- hopefully I won't get tarred and feathered.

A bit about of me;. I consider myself a lover of punk rock, film, and art in general. I've recently developed a taste for crust and anarcho-punk and I write for a punk rock site (sounds so fucking braggy, but I don't mean it to be. I'm really pretty lame, and it's totally volunteer). Basically, I love the genre and have a desire to explore it in its entirety because I'm weird and obsessive about the art that moves me.

So, at the end of the day, I guess I want to learn more about you guys. What are your favorite bands? Why do you believe in anarchy? What are your general views and opinions on punk rock?

What are your favorite bands?- amebix, doom, discharge, dead kennedys, leftovercrack
Why do you believe in anarchy? - i believe in anarcho-syndicalism, which is the belief that the workers should control means of production and this is meant to keep the bourgeoisie out of rule and to have the people who actually make things happen in the work place get there fair share.and it obviously means no government.
What are your general views and opinions on punk rock? greatiest movement, music and lifestyle to have ever been created. :ecouteurs:

    Thanks for replying!

I actually own a Doom album, but I must profess I wasn't able to get into it that much. Maybe there's something broken inside of me. I do love Dead Kennedys. Amebix, and Discharge though. I don't love Leftover Crack (I prefer Morning Glory) but I do have a certain affection for it.

As a worker myself, I totally believe we should get our fair share, but I can't help but believe that the Big Idea people should get a bigger share. Maybe that's just me. I'm not a big fan of anything relating to communism because it feels like there's a lack of individuality, which I can't accept, but I also don't like the idea of a world where I can't be better than someone else. Yeah, I know that sounds shitty, but I'm not sure I believe that everyone is created equal-- it's a harsh, cruel world where advantages are genetically assigned. I recently read a book, "The Philosophy of Punk", that detailed the anarchist movement as it relates to punk rock. I didn't agree with all of it, but it left me with the opinion that the anarchists are working towards something positive, but I'm simply not kind enough to consider myself a part of it. Too idealistic for me, perhaps. Not trying to be combative, and definitely not denigrating any of you guys. I'm truly interested in your opinions.

Punk rock to me is art first-- creative freedom at its finest. It's the perfect vehicle for free speech.

I spent a little time attempting to express this very sentiment in my own intro. It ended with abject failure and some backspacing. You have put it much better. So may I just say: ditto.

To say that you’re a lover of “art in general” is quite, um, general. Anything in particular? Don’t worry, I won’t judge, and I hardly know anything about art, so even if I did judge, it wouldn’t be worth anything.
