Well if they're so insistent on the precision of their drones I can only deduce from that that their intent was to actually target those children.

Sandy Hook Shooter's Mother Collected Guns In Preparation For Economic Collapse

The mother of the gunman who killed 20 children and seven adults in America’s worst school massacre, was a gun-proud “survivalist” preparing for economic collapse, it has emerged.

Nancy Lanza, whose gun collection was raided by her son Adam for Friday’s massacre at Sandy Hook school, was part of the “prepper” movement, which urges readiness for social chaos by hoarding supplies and training with weapons.

“She prepared for the worst,” her sister-in-law Marsha Lanza told reporters. “Last time we visited her in person, we talked about prepping – are you ready for what could happen down the line, when the economy collapses?”

I like the statement by the Denver Anarchist Black Cross in Regards to the Aurora shooting.
    http://denverabc.wordpress.com/2012/07/ ... e-complex/

Specifically this segment, because it can be interchangeable with any mass shooting.:

"And in the end, all of these people miss the forest for the trees. We live in an insane and violent culture. One that was founded upon mass genocide and slavery. We live in a culture that celebrates genocidal generals as “war heroes”, where military training happens in schools, where kids are bred from the youngest of ages to want to go conquer and occupy foreign countries. We live in a culture where it is always easier for people to get firearms than it is to get mental health treatment; where the only answer anyone seems to have for how this situation could have been dealt with revolves around the question of firearms. None of us heard a single person that has spoken on any media outlet, including alternative outlets, that spoke about the cultures of violence that surround us, or about access to mental health care, or necessary social services. All talk was centered on firearms: whether to ban them, or make sure the state gets more.

Let’s be clear, this is not a call for gun control. The members of Denver ABC have been quite clear on our stance on gun ownership and the right to defend communities and individuals from violence. However, even as proponents of gun ownership as a means of self defense, we cannot help but question why it is that no one has started a conversation around other aspects of this complex social phenomenon. Why do mass murders affect our communities? Why does this level of violence happen on such a regular cycle? Why would someone who shoots up a movie theater be (rightfully) vilified in a city where a celebratory statue of a man who helped massacre indigenous people by the tens of thousands is perched just yards away from the City and County Building?

Until we start to try to actually examine complex social relationships, and ask hard questions that may also indict ourselves as active contributors to this violent spectacle of a society, questions that may lead us to a critical analysis of our entire culture and way of life, we may never really have any answers on how to prevent these horrible tragedies. In fact, the longer we avoid asking these questions, and building a complex and critical understanding of the insane society we live in, the more often tragedies like this will occur."

Also, apparently the Westboro Baptist church is going to protest this somehow, probably funerals, and I've also heard that the KKK is going to counter-protest the WBC...

hmm. Access to mental health care won't get any easier. America's all up in arms about gun control but ignoring mental health. Current state of things is that someone who's mentally disturbed enough to shoot a couple dozen children can't get serious care unless they've committed a crime, in which case they just get thrown in jail at the end anyways.
I mean there are tons of people like this. Kids stab/assault/shoot their parents all the time, people just forget about or try to sweep it under the rug.

Out of curiosity, did anyone else sign the petition on the website that video links to? I did, I'm not sure how much of a difference the petition will make, but I figured it couldn't hurt.

You're not necessarily deranged because you kill people, even though it seems like this guy was. Either way the media is more focused on getting information about the shootings than asking why it happened. Chances are, like Harrison already said, they'll cover it for a few weeks and sweep it under the rug. Its very typical that they blame a thing like this on the individual and try to make it seem like a local, individual occurrence rather than finding out why these things happen at all, and how to stop them from happening.

I like what Derrick Jensen says about "violence" in premise 4 & 5 of him epic book End Game:

@ JesusCrust i think communities and societies have asked the question to themselves and gotten answers; but, it is those communities and societies that are on the receiving end of "violence" upon them by others. When the Denver Anarchist Black Cross asks why haven't we asked those questions...who is we? Is it those that profit of "violence" who's class creation and standing is maintained by "violence"? Was not his mother afraid of loosing her class place in the mofo hierarchy? How many other are afraid of loosing their place in the hierarchy; but, would be ok with the collateral damage of human beings in the margins of the world if they could grow the mofo economy and create mofo jobs? :/

@Spike, one of many, i may be wrong but i get the feeling that the killing of children that belong to the upper parts of the bourgeoisie (killings that are all ways unjustified), get more press than the killing of children of members of lowers segmants of society (killings that could be and are justified)... :/

NOTE i know DJ is in crazzy ass grey zone with anarchists... so if they are better critiques on violence and state violence please point me to them, thanks :D

Damn, they're showing us old news reports here from nearly a month ago haha. I saw it yesterday morning on some news channel so I thought this was new.
Anyway 21 people were only 'slightly' injured in the bus bombing according to the report and meanwhile 140 died in gaza (as opposed to 5 in israel) and over 1000 were injured. And yeah, that bus incident seemed to get a bit too much attention, considering.

...I could not stop laughing at this.

When I heard about the shooter being autistic I was really hopeful that it would result in the states and Canada becoming more aware of mental health and providing systems for people who are suffering. Purportedly the mother of the kid had tried to get her son taken care of but was not in a financial situation to do so. In spite of it all, the conversation went directly to gun control (as it always does). It doesn't make any sense to me. Guns are only a problem if people are picking them up and pulling the trigger, so why do people think it makes more sense to limit access to firearms (which they will never be able to fully do) when they could build some legitimate programs that address the North American social environment which glorifies violence? I feel like an opportunity is being missed on several counts.

I heard the NRA speak and they were proposing a volunteer program i believe? Volunteer? WTF??? What happened to the market and how fucken wonderfull it is?? I want some free market solutions!!!!

There are around 98,817 public schools in america.
    Source: http://www.infoplease.com/askeds/number ... hools.html

Number of unemployed veterans in america: 900,000.
    Source: http://www.politifact.com/georgia/state ... nemployed/

Well if these men and women put their life in hams way to protect americas interests abroad, i bet they would be willing to protects americans most important interests, it kids. Thats of course if Academi (formerly known as Blackwater USA) won't offer them better contracts with dental included.

Put watch towers around each school and vets in them.... save the kids, let that invisible hand of the mofo market work its magic! Problem solved!
