    SLUG Biography

American punk rock band formed in 1974 and disbanded in 1996.

Hailing from Forest Hills - a neighborhood of Queens, New York City (USA) - the original line-up consisted of singer [a=Joey Ramone] (Jeffrey Hyman, born May 19th, 1951, died April 15th, 2001), guitarist [a=Johnny Ramone] (John Cummings, born October 8th, 1948, died September 15th, 2004), bassist [a=Dee Dee Ramone] (Douglas Colvin, born September 18th, 1952, died June 5th, 2002) and drummer [a=Tommy Ramone] (Tom Erdelyi, born January 29, 1952, died July 11th, 2014).

After Tommy left the band in early 1978 he was replaced by [a=Marky Ramone] (Marc Bell). He was fired in 1983 and was then replaced by [a=Richie Ramone] (Richard Beau). In 1987, he then left the band and was briefly replaced by Elvis Ramone ([a=Clem Burke]) for two performances (August 28 & 29, 1987) before Marky returned in September, 1987. In 1989, Dee Dee left and was replaced by [a=C.J. Ramone] (Christopher John Ward).

In 2001, Joey Ramone passed away, a victim of Lymphoma. The following year, Dee Dee died in Los Angeles on June 5th, 2002. Johnny Ramone died in his sleep in Los Angeles on September 15th, 2004. Tommy died 10 years later, on July 11th, 2014, making him the last original member of the Ramones to die.

Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 (Performer).

Slug is a name used by multiple acts: (1) American hip hop artist Sean Daley, of Atmosphere; (2) South African trance artist Liam Gibbs; (3) a Los Angeles avant/noise rock band; (4) a Chicago-based trance/breakbeat producer; (5) a house DJ from the Shetland Isles, (6) a singer-songwriter from Staffordshire, UK; (7) a South American thrash-metal band; (8) a Field Music - associated indie-rock act from Sunderland, UK.

    1. Sean Daley, Slug, Atmosphere:
Minneapolis, Minnesota isn`t exactly the ideal spot to try and maintain a career in hip hop, but somehow, Slug has managed to do just that. Slug has seen many overcast days on his way to underground hip hop stardom. After 20 years of rhyming, this rapologist has no problem tapping into his ether. He hasn't forgotten that a new MC is born every night, and to maintain his position as a Midwest heavyweight, he must be ready for the verbal fight club at any moment. Grazing through woeful pastures of intelligence with Slug is like having a conversation with Einstein and Shakespeare mixed with street corner linguistics.

    2. Liam Gibbs:
A popular Psychedelic-Trance producer as well as co-founder and operator of South African label Nexus Media whose music usually takes a darker twist to mainstream full-on psy. His debut album "Lose Your Shell" was released in 2004, followed in 2005 by a collaborative project known as Pitch Hikers, featuring fellow South-African producer and friend Shift (Chris Hoy), which drew much applause within the psy community. 2006 saw a second solo Slug album, called "Elemental", with his most popular album to date "Hardwired" being released in 2008.

    3. Slug (Los Angeles):
Los Angeles, California-based band Slug formed when the members met working at the radio station KXLU. Active in the mid-90's, Slug released three albums: Swingers (on their own Magnatone label), The Out Sound (PCP) & The Three Man Themes (PCP).

    4. Slug (Chicago):
Slug is an up and coming Trance/Breakbeat producer from outside Chicago.

    5. Slug (Shetland Isles):
Slug is a House DJ from the Shetland Isles, releasing many unofficial remix Cds and collaborating with many other Shetland DJ's

    6. Slug (UK)
Slug is a singer-songwriter/guitarist from the UK and is best known for his acoustic work which is reminiscent of artists like Bright Eyes in it's beauty. Has released little work officially, but is very active on the live scene in the North Staffordshire area.

    7. SLUG (Brazil)
Thrash-metal band, 17 years old and 5 recorded CDs. www.slug.com.br

    8. SLUG (UK)
Sunderland musician Ian Black, aided and abetted by Field Music's Peter and David Brewis and Andrew Lowther. Thus far the track Cockeyed Rabbit Wrapped In Plastic has been released to radio and UK live dates announced.
