I love folk punk. I got into it when I lived in Minneapolis, there is a great healthy anarcho-folk-punk scene there right now. I started playing folk-punk out of necessity, I was tired of finding new band members all the time and just though "fuck it, I can just do it myself". I also love that with folk punk you can understand the words unlike crust. Another great thing about folk punk is you can play a show pretty much anywhere on a street corner, in a park... where ever...

if you are interested you can check out my stuff both electric and acoustic at http://www.myspace.com

Yeah I saw that on his website. I hope he comes out of it for the better and continues his musical career because I really do love his stuff.

Yeah, I prefer it myself, there's just not too many good ones.

He might, he said he really doesn't know, I just hope he doesn't get clean then start sucking at music.

Hail Seizures are hands down the best out of all these bands... listen to "for the ruin". Also blackbird raum kill it, they are coming out with a new record soon.

i go to a youtube channel "artichokification" and theres new stuff uploaded there all the time. its good music, easy to relate to, its more about social issues and critiques. to me its less about the music and more about what happens around it, like how much the whole thing grows and the fact you can do it yourself without basically doing anything. ramshackle glory has an art collective, and they host specific debates on their website, they were trying for this called javelin press a little while ago, which is a magazine obviously but they didnt make enough money to release it.

wingnut dishwashers union and johnny hobo are far from radical and from what i've heard around he isn't that true to his songs. some cute awesome folk punk i really love is rosa (folks involved in this project are also in a pop punk band called punkin pie), ursula, dandelion junk queens. pale robin is really good, a side project from folks in blackbird raum), also the brooklyn street orchestra from sd. not together anymore but there might be music of theirs floating around.

pat the bunnies shit is definitely radical. he cleaned up and is now in ramshackle glory which is more personal/spiritual but def radical as shit.
im from philly and have seen mischief brew a shitton of times, and though they are very good, and erik is definitely a decent dude, its kinda kid shit. and tbh the older shit is far better than the current shit.

THE WILD from atlanta is an awesome fucking folkpunk band. set ourselves free- 2010 lp is a simply gold. love that shit, and they just put on an amazing fucking show. as high energy as any band with a banjo could possibly be.
