Anybody here into the new wave of dark punk groups coming out?
The term "Dark Punk" is simply out of lack of a better term - some call it new Deathrock, to which some groups says the music is too political and raw, not "glam" enough, while the music is also to hard and fast to usually be considered "post-punk". Though, it's definitely bands with a darker post-punk influenced sound and a darker imagery reminiscent of goth genres.

Despite the fact that political lyrics and anarchism is not really a completely new phenomena in darker/"goth" music (think Rubella Ballet, New Model Army etc), there's definitely a large amount of new bands coming out these years. Even though this is happening all over the world, with many different groups spawning independently of each other, with huge musical differences, I dare put them in the same category of "dark punk" at the moment, simply because of the darker sound, the political lyrics and the mix of hardcore punk with post-punk.

I've seen some of the groups mentioned around the forum when searching and lurking, but it would be great to make a thread of new dark groups! Personally, I'm looking for more, as this, to me, is some of the most interesting music out there right now.

Most of the groups seems to be from the US or Canada, so let's start with some good new European groups:

    Tanzkommando Untergang (Germany)
    http://youtu.be/zKSSL0u0nXA
(whole demo available for listening at http://tanzkommandountergang.bandcamp.com/)

    Belgrado (Spain)
    http://youtu.be/c1obbnG0SOA

    Dystopian Society (Italy)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRfTgAitnc0

And now for some american groups:
    Dekoder (Canada)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw61rT0yfYg

    Spectres (Canada)
    http://youtu.be/EEditQ9znYg

    Christ vs Warhol (US)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48gdAeXMa20

    Anybody got anymore suggestions?

PS. Sorry for being inactive here for a long while

Actually... I'm the leadsinger of Metro Cult, and yes, I'm a huge fan of Chainsaw Eaters, Moth and Melting Walkmen, and have been at pretty much all of their concerts since 2008/2009 :) But nice to be mentioned amongst such great groups!

Hex on the beach? I really don't know if I hate or love that name haha. But I'll check it out!

Haha, such a small world...then I guess we've met IRL as well :)

Sadly I arrived too late to catch your performance in Helsingør last Friday, but I guess I'll have the chance again sooner or later...

I knew that screen-name was familiar haha.

But yes, it was only our 7-8 gig or something, so I definitely hope there will be more soon. I don't know when right now though

Actually, that reminds me, (to get back to subject) we played together with a good darker punk band at Dortheavej - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB8Kk6ODgZc Countdown to Armageddon. Pretty hardcore punk'ish, but definitely with a dark vibe.

Just curious, what do the mods and admins do when their forums start getting flooded? Is there any way to actually clean up their mess when they get big?

Turbonegro? Isn't that just kind of pop-punk with a glam twist?

Death Punk used to be another term for DeathRock...

We got a new release on DISCOS ENFERMOS!!!

    DE #20 SECT LP
Great debut of this international band (poland/venezuela) but based in barcelona. The 10 songs on this lp are pure hits!
Mixing perfectly the sound of the english 80s punk on his most anarchopunk way like FLUX OF PINK INDIANS mixed with the most dark sound of those years like THE MOB or KILLING JOKE but basically based on the uk80s anarchopunk. Female vocals reming me to bands like THE EXPELLED or ACTION PACT a lot, totally well completed with a second male vocal in some songs. Totally sharp and catchy guitars full of reverb and really great punk ritmic base totally with uk80s taste. Delux release on black and withe with 350gr jacket and printed 280gr inner sleeve all printed in the reverse side.
