The thing that always gets me about Black Friday is that it's just hours after a holiday dedicated to being thankful for what you have. Eventually it's going to get to a point where Thanksgiving isn't even celebrated, and it'll just be Black Friday.

Damn, I saw that in the news today. It was fucking insane. I didn't see anyone gtting killed but the way they were fighting over these items, apparently present for their kids was just...I don't know, typical I guess.

It's the embodiment of everything that's wrong with consumerism.

It really is. I'm currently living in Japan and there's absolutely nothing even similar to Black Friday. When I did live in the US I had to work on 2 Black Friday's and once I had to actually go to buy a wedding ring. The whole thing is totally surreal. This probably has to do with the fact that it takes place at around 4am in the morning. There literally thousands of people charging into these stores like wild bulls on PCP.

I had this memory of working at Target. The place was swarming with rabid costumers. There was a huge stand packed with DVD's, that are usually priced around 25$, on sale for 99 cents. This lady sees the movies, and with her arm, scoops all the movies into her cart. I mean, she didn't even stop to see what movies they were. You really have to be there, it's one of the most bizarre things you'll ever witness.

I have heard of fights during the winter or summer sales in Paris but death casualties, really? I guess all the frustration that people have accumulated for not being able to afford consumer goods just unleashes at the same time and place. It must be scary indeed.

Now I can definitely picture the same thing happening if you had rare punk records available for 50p once a year. Record collectors would just go mental. :lmao:

this makes me thankful for being raised in an atheist, unloving family. i was wondering what the big fuss was myself, i never knew there were people being killed and injured, its ridiculous.

haha, too bad walmart isn`t big on rare punk records.

haha be glad it's not. That would be a good way to fuck up the punk scene. Having them kill each other over consumer goods (sorry, rare punk records :p ).
