So I am in quite the predicament... I have these pants that I love very much, as much as a pair of black pants can be loved. I wore them all the time, sometime nothing else for days on end! But then came the day that shall live in infamy, when I ripped the most villainous hole conceivable - in the crouch! No matter what I did, it got bigger and bigger! :(

Not to be daunted and gifted with a lil' bit of sewing skill I picked up mah needle and patched the mofo up, using a cloth patch. The thing was in shreds by the end of the day. So, I took up needle and thread again... only to the same end that night! I set the pants aside in defeat... and after a while said to myself, "Zenyatta! I know why you're failing! The pants, they stretch! The cloth, it don't stretch! So, to save yer crouch you need stretchy patch!"

I salvaged some stretch denim crap and tried again. For three days of loving and constant wear, it worked! But alas, for yesterday I noticed... the blasted thing was in pieces again!

So, being a place no doubt filled with people who have experienced similar scenarios, I ask you lovely punk people.... Do you know a solution to mah crouch problem? I've been patching over the hole, should I go from the inside instead? Or are crouch holes just an irremediable part of life and I should just keep patching over the mofo hole when needed?

persona-non-grata you're correct. However, it could be that it's the pants that are ripping and not the patch. I also always had that problem. When I was a lightie, my jeans would always tear at the knees first, but when I got older they always tore at the crotch first haha, and it's not because I keep rubbing there :lmao: but I ended up just leaving it and just walked around with a hole in my crotch.
But I'm sure if you stitch a patch to both the outside and inside it should hold. It might be uncomfortable though.

Oh, I only saw now that it is actually the patch that's tearing. It just shows you one should read every single word!

What i have done is first get rid of the bad part of the pants, cut the part out thats falling apart first.

Then i fold back the remaining parts of the pants in the hole i just created so when i wash them they stop falling apart.

Then i attach whatever old t-shirt i find (black of course haha), cut a piece out and attach that as the patch, t-shirts are stretchy and the pant will stop becoming undone.

But than its just the wear and tear on the patch to worry about.

NO GODS! NO MASTERS! NO PANTS!

What I do is patch over the hole and then I sew a bigger patch over that patch to reinforce it. Also, you should sew with dental floss, especially on areas that move a lot like the crotch because floss is harder to rip than thread. \m/

I have 8 pairs of pants and 1 pair left with no rips there - and it's always there, on the inner part of the thighs. Fucking annoying.

I've taken the consequence - I wear leggings underneath. Be prepared for some people finding it "feminine", but all in all, if you don't care (why care?), it's the easiest... Of course depending how warm your area is.

I think I should try some of the advice in here though - I could really need a whole pair of pants again.

Haha, the eternal curse of filthy black pants

If you wanna rock that greasy mofos all the time, you've gotta be prepared to work on 'em all the time as well.

But here's a few tricks I've learned over the years:

Sew patches on both sides of the hole.

Remember to sew the torn apart fabric from the pants onto the patch as well.

Use fabric glue "for that extra protection"

Get your pants so greasy and sticky that they will melt onto your skin, and become a new living organism, able to repair itself...that's crust as f#¤%&#K!!!

haha mmm patches on the inside of your pants. I`ll have to remember that one.
I tried using safety pins as a last resort, but those things aren`t nice to have near your crotch, guy or girl.
