Just posted, the last compilation of the mighty 1in12 Club in Bradford, a long-running anarchist social centre. Released on cd in 1999 by Active Distribution, the compilation was a benefit for the refugees from Kosovo and include such greats as Health Hazard, Stalingrad, Extinction of Mankind, Blood Sucking Freaks, Voorhees, Hard to Swallow, Sawn Off, John Holmes, Headache, Dog on a rope, Witchknot, Revolt or Kito. A great overview of the hardcore scene from the late 90's that gravitated around the 1in12. Top notch indeed.

Damn, the guy on the cover of Blood Sucking Freaks looks like he's been hacked in the mouth with a machete. WHA!

BSF were really into gory imagery of human violence, cannibal movies and other niceties. When Doom stopped after their "World of shit" Lp, some of the BSF members who were also playing in Doom went on to form State of Filth, an aesthetically less brutal band but with added grinding blast beats. I intend to post their split with Anarchy Spanky in a not so distant future.

More British 90's goodness with the Ep of the rather obscure Lardarse from Notts. If you have ever wondered what damage a tag-team with Doom and Dirt could cause, then that'll be right up in your alley. Great anarcho lyrics as well, especially the antiwork anthem "Slave".

Two live tapes of old British anarcho bands this time:

    - Naked "Go for what?" live 1983. Brilliant anarcho punk with tunes. Imagine the Buzzcocks or the Neurotics in anarcho mode. My file was however removed by mediafire following a complaint. Fortunately a fellow blogger let me use his from his own blog.

    - Life Cycle / Shrapnel live in Leeds 1988. Two Welsh bands on this one, Life Cycle played heavy metal punk similar to Celtic Frost but with feminist politics and Shrapnel were an innovative and catchy punk-rock outfit.

Definitely going to check this out. Not that keen on the later stuff I heard but I do like the idea of it.

Also noted a bit of a knock on UK thrash. I love Onslaught's Power from Hell (not so much The Force). And I enjoyed Anihilated's last album (a few year's back):

Also keen on the Slayer rip-offs Hydra Vein as well as Acid Reign and the comedy stylings of Lawn Mower Deth (they're playing near me in December, actually).

I don't dislike metal and I actually really enjoy "Power from Hell" musically but the fake Satan voice at the beginning has to one of the most ridiculous Devil impersonation ever. I guess I have fun making fun of the cheesiness of thrash metal ;)

I haven't given a chance to the last Anihilated album but I suppose I could. I think you are going to enjoy the Metal Duck demo, it has that primal metal-punk sound and really catchy songs. And well, it's a good laugh.

Yeah, it is a good laugh and there are some nice riffs in there. Much prefer to the later stuff - didn't think the more guttural vocal style did much for them. Good stuff.

    - Sanctus Iuda / Regeneracion split Ep 1997. Split between Sanctus Iuda from Poland who plays filthy Fleas And Live and Hiatus inspired ecocrust-punk and Regeneracion from Mexico who Ricardo Flores Magon worshipping rough and ready crusty madness. Brilliant.
    http://terminalsoundnuisance.blogspot.f ... -1997.html

    - Earth Movement "W Sprawie Ocalenia" Ep 1998. Great Polish anarchopunk with some crusty influences. Think Wlochaty pairing with Homomilitia.

    - Muerte En La Industria "No dejes que te exploten, sin ti no son nada" cd 2006. This record includes their demo from 1988 as well as a live cover of IV Reich. This is pure Mexican hardcore-punk, raw and aggressive that brings Massacre 68, Chaos UK and Confuse to mind. Absolutely crushing.
    http://terminalsoundnuisance.blogspot.f ... ue-te.html

    - Death Sentence "Death and pure distruction" Ep 1982. A rather obscure Ep from Northern England that exemplifies how great UK82 could be. To store between Disorder, Chaos UK, Discharge and Instant Agony.

Two English split records this week!

    - Mortal Terror / Aural Corpse split Lp 1990. Both bands are raw and might have recorded in a cave. Mortal Terror on this record was in AOA/Antisect/Anti-System mood while Aural Corpse was all out crusty savagery like ENT/Sore Throat/Genital Deformities. Great lyrics and artwork as well.
    http://terminalsoundnuisance.blogspot.f ... -1990.html

    - State of Filth / Anarchy Spanky split cd 2003. State of Filth had members of Doom and Blood Sucking Freaks and played filthy grinding crustcore while Anarchy Spanky was a much more punk-rock sounding band, somewhere between Combat Shock, Scattergun and Potential Threat.

    - The Sect "The voice of reason" Lp 1987. Impressively tuneful English punk-rock band between the Buzzcocks, Rudi and Cock Sparrer with songs love, being in love, falling out of love and being a rocker in love.
    http://terminalsoundnuisance.blogspot.f ... -1987.html

    - Upheaval / Yan Tree split Ep 1989. An anarcho pairing with Upheaval from Scarborough playing old-school melodic hardcore-punk and Yan Tree doing chumbawambesque acoustic folk-punk.
