When I lived in Berlin, when the wall was still standing (I actually witnessed the fall of the wall but that's another story) I went with my friends (a grindcore band called SM70) and some of their friends (3 members from Malinheads) and a couple of other guys to a venue in east Berlin (SM70 were scheduled to play last that night).

The venue was packed and pretty soon they ran out of beer :o . So a bunch of us went down to a pub a little ways down the street to try to buy some beers. The pub owner didn't like punks and refused to sell us beer. He threw us out and locked the doors (there were still other (normal) people in the pub drinking). So some of the punks started to make a big scene, kicking the doors, shouting and the owner called the cops.

About 5 minutes later two 12-tonne russian army trucks pulled up and about 20 cops piled out of these trucks (I thought the GESTAPO had arrived), and I'm thinking "oh no, here we go...". Some of the Vopos (Volkspolizei) went into the pub to talk with the owner. A few minutes later they came out again and told us we could go in and get our beers. they probably gave him some speech about equality or something? Fuck were we relieved! They even stuck around to make sure we got what we came for.

So after that success we all went back to the venue. SM70 finally got to play and I tell you, most of the east german punks had never even heard a grindcore band before. The whole venue just went CRAZY. Total mayhem. It was awesome just to watch the crowd.

hahaha that is an awesome story! Its hard to say what mine would be. I was at that british invasion 06 when that riot happened, haha that was pretty eventful. Another time i was at this show that the band "tragedy" played along with some other bands i dont remember. It was at this place that was called big game, that is a lil bit bigger then the other diy venues in fresno, they have security and a professional sounding PA, a sound guy, all that shit. Anyways i dont remember much about the show, me and two of my friends were wasted. I apparently threw up on the "dance floor" and was manhandled out by the security, while i was out side continuing to throw up on the side of the venue i guess a friend of mine got into with one of the security guys, and they were manhandled out as well. The owner of the venue ended up calling the cops while all this was happening. So the cops show up, im there wasted and i have a bullet belt on, the cops went on to search me and my whole car and trunk to look for the gun that my bullet belt went too hahaha. It was funny cuz i remember the cop going through my trunk and came across vhs copies of the indiana jones movies and he says to me "ahh good movies" hahahaha. After that, not finding the gun that apparently my bullet belt was supposed to go too and knowing how wasted I was told me I need to leave. hahahha so i got in my car and drunkingly drove away with my friends

the funny thing about the story is they take DUI's very seriously around here and have DUI check points all over town every night, and this cop tells me to drive home wasted

I told my dad that I wanted a bullet belt and he asked me if I was Pancho Villa :lmao: . I would have to say my most memorable show would be my first show where I was wearing my stepdad's old doc martens that were too small and I was in extreme pain the whole time. I still enjoyed myself though. I saw Toxic Holocaust and a few other thrash bands. Another show I went to though was pretty sick. I was walking around the O.C. Fair and I heard the sound of a ska band playing so I went and sure enough there was the band The Originalites opening up for The English Beat. I didn't know the show was happening that day, but I found a few punks to hang out with. They were skanking to the Originalites cover of Date Rape and I remember seeing a few confused faces of Costa Mesian old white people. :lmao: good times.

One of the biggest stories to come out of the Irish punk scene in recent years is the fight between Blood Or Whiskey and Kidd Blunt at the Drumacanoo Punx Picnic. With my typical luck, I was at the festival but attending to a distro table elsewhere at the time, so all I had to go on was a few conflicting accounts. But it seems like a right mess!

I'm still not 100% on it. But I do know that Blood Or Whiskey got all rockstar-ish and took stage time away from Kidd Blunt (excellent melodic hardcore band who had been going for about a decade). Some people got a bit put out by that obviously (KB were the better band after all! :)), and someone in BOW got very arrogant and antagonistic, until the whole thing erupted into physical violence. The bassist from BOW left the band over it and posted a message on Eirecore distancing himself from them. That's the bare bones of the story that I've been able to corroborate anyway.

When I saw The Smashing Pumpkins, I was the most enthusiastic guy in the whole arena and Billy Corgan mentioned it multiple times during what little stage banter they did following their show I puked 7 times on the way to my friend's bands bar show, the other one would when Less Than Jake brought me up on stage. I also had to travel 7 hours to get to both of these shows.

Can't remember my most memoriable show, but last week I went to a last minute show in Anaheim at this small warehouse. There's all these fucking hipsters in my town and they invited my friends ska band to play so we're like, "ehhhh, a gigs a gig."
So we get there and the owner seemed pretty weird, just looking at him brought off bad vibes.
Before my friends band and I go in he tells the 12 people that are there, "okay, I want you guys to respect my place....and if I see any god dam ni**ers spray painting on my wall I'll break their fingers off. You could be brown, white, black, red and you could still be a ni**er"! And he kept looking at me and was like, do I know you from somewhere?
I haven't seen this lunatic in my life so I said......no.
Later on in the night my friends band played, then I hoped on the drums and played GG Allin and I noticed the room was clear and I thought it was cause a new band got on and they thought I sucked.
Once we finished the song somebody said there was a fight so I told my singer to play Ready to Fight by Negative Approach. After that we get kicked off stage and the bouncers tells everybody to leave.
Apparently, the crazy owner got in an argument with some guitarist from another band so the guitarist beat the shit out of him and the owner fell on his knife and cut his own hand open. You could see his fucking tendons dudes! :o
But.....once the guitarist got off the owner, the owner got up and stabbed the kid in the leg. Nobody could find the kid so he was probably bleeding out somewhere. But.....as I was walking out the owner said get the fuck out and he turned around and spit blood in my hurrrr.
So that was last week. Stabbings and spit. :p

I used to play in a shitty late 90's anarcho group in bakersfield, ca. one night we played a show in town and during another bands set these boneheads starting glue stepping and yelling white power in the pit. the drummer from the band in mid song grabbed his crash stand and hit the bonehead in the face which erupted in an all out 75 vs 4 stomping of nazi's they eventually fucked off and left the club. after the gig we were all putting our gear away and heading home. i had a duffel bag that i carried merch and cymbal stands in as we exited the club there were those boneheads ready for round 2. they tried to jump us, i swung my bag around and caught one of them in the head then i blacked out ( i black out in fights, kinda cool, kinda weird) i'm told i went into robo nazi crusher mode for about 2 mins, when i was awoke by a shove and the wintery freshness of pepper spray!!! it was the police !!! fun fun fun.

Sonic Youth -91, me and my brother shared some 6-7 bottles of red wine before the gig.
Afterwards we were both absolutely sure we've been to a Jimi Hendrix consert (?) :S

Warzone Fest 2003 - what got me into punk rock. The nicest people I'd ever met, my first experience of a social centre, brilliant fun, a tangible buzz in the air about the whole thing, and I didn't even mind when a stout man in a harness and biker hat (singer in Knifed) flung blackcurrant cordial all over me and my spare t-shirt!
