I was wondering, is anyone here a hoarder?
I'm not actually one, at least I don't think so (although I'm really not the neatest/tidiest kid on the block by far), but then again I don't have that many possessions to actually find out LoL.
I do however collect the weirdest shit - strange rock forms from the beach and mountains, seed pods that look like mushrooms and just real unusual-looking stuff from nature) and turn it into art sometimes.
What about you guys? Or just mention some strange or unusual hobbies you have (besides protesting - no offence, I also protest when I feel strongly about sump'm).
    (Sorry, my camera's broken.)

LOL that's pretty funny. I wouldn't mind building something like a rail-spike gun (like the one in Fallout 3) :lmao:

I collect retro games and cassette tapes, not really odd, but they take up most of my apartment. I also have a small collection of cannabis pipes (3 small glass pipes, a bubbler, a metal pipe, and 2 stealth pipes). I have a small collection of autographs of artists I've met (Exodus, Municipal Waste,Zakk Wylde, Eric Singer of KISS, Henry Rollins, Chris from No-Cash, etc).

I wouldn't consider myself a hoarder or anything quite like that, but I am quite an avid collector of music. When I was a young teen, I started buying CD's and quickly became addicted. In the last couple of years, I've started listening to vinyl also. In the last year or so, I've started listening to cassette tapes too, ever since I've found a few perfectly good tape players in thrift store dumpsters. Tapes and vinyl are just really fun. In total, I must own something like 500 albums (CD's, records and tapes), which is definitely way more than most people own these days (especially given that most people are more into digital music these days). I definitely know people who have even way more than this though. Music is really the only thing I really buy and collect. It's definitely my passion and guilty pleasure, I'm totally addicted to buying music, although I don't buy too much these days. Most of the time I buy stuff used anyways.

One problem with our society's constant technological advancement, is that it creates a huge amount of waste. For example, I'd imagine that once CD's became the norm for music, loads of people threw out and/or put their tapes/vinyl in storage or something, which is such a waste of music. But on the plus side, it's pretty easy to acquire/inherit old record collections and find plenty of records and tapes in thrift stores. Similarly, I'm sure loads of people throw out their computers once the newest computers are available. It's just such a waste, slightly older forms of technology are still perfectly fine. Most technology these days is probably produced under unethical labour conditions. So by sticking with older technology, it's much more ethical that way. Not to mention, exponentially cheaper. These days, I occasionally drop by a thrift store right by my house, and I can buy albums on tape for 50 cents each. I've picked up loads of cool stuff: Bad Religion, Rage Against the Machine, Led Zeppelin and so on (I'm sure I'll lose "punk credibility" for owning these, but for 50 cents each, they're good for a casual listen).

im actually the complete opposite of a hoarder. over the years ive been becoming an increasingly minimialist. it started when i was traveling alot. I hated the weight of my pack and started getting obsessed with the idea of what i really needed in there. I wanted to travel faster and lighter, feel more free and improvise more.

now, im more domestic, but im still a minimalist. i probably have 100 pounds of stuff and my motorcycle. i have more stuff than i could take on my bike if i had to leave. but i have no problem throwing most of my crap in a box and putting it on the curb if i wanted to go. Im always trying to simplify and minimilize. some examples are: I don't wear underwear. I hate shoes that needs socks.I hate shoes that are made of excess material which is basically every shoe. Idont have a bath towel (I just grab one of my three shirts to dry off with). I took the plastics off my motorcyle to minimize and for the look. i ride a motorcycle in teh first place because it has less moving parts and simpler than a car, making it more reliable and cheaper. I am a writer and strive for a simplistic writing style. the goal is to put more focus on the happenings of the story and allow the readers to imagine more about whats going on rather than just describing everything.

it just goes on and on. it can completely dominate my thoughts sometimes. ive gotten lunatic with it

in teh future i want a nice library and tool collection for projects, but i figure i wont start collecting any of that until i stop renting, and buy some property.
