Oh, and by the way, I doubt that abortion being used as a form of birth control will ever be a real problem. You don`t just get a fetus sucked out of you. Its a big decision/procedure to do/make and I think everyone that has gone through one has put a lot of thought into it.
Girls tend to use "day after"(dunno what you say in English) pills instead of protection or birth control, now thats a real problem.

    Agreed.

Being male I will never know the physical impacts of child birth or abortion. From my experience with those women in my life that have chosen to share that they have had an abortion. Abortion is a medical procedure that can result in serious physical complications and does impact the long term mental health of the individual having the abortion. No one, to my knowledge, has ever gotten pregnant just so they could have an abortion, no one treats having an abortion as though it were a simple decision, like having cereal or toast for breakfast. Every women I know who has had an abortion remains impacted even though given the circumstances it was the right decision for them at the time. Some have regretted the abortion all regretted being in the situation that led to the abortion, very few have told the man involved that the abortion took place. It is discomforting to know that, even with the precautions I have taken in my life, a 'mistake' may have led to an abortion that I am unaware of.

The use of RU486 or 'day after' pill also has complications and side effects as do herbal abortion applications. To use either as a long term birth control strategy is dangerous and irresponsible but women who rely on them also face potential STD's that are far more damaging as do those men who refuse to wrap it up. Birth control is not just a women's issue or responsibility. Until we live in a 'perfect' world abortion will remain a necessary part of our society and even in some future utopian world abortions may still occur. It is not up to the state, religious institutions or another individual to force a woman to carry a pregnancy to term if they choose, for whatever their reason, not to do so.

Being Pro-choice does not mean being Pro-abortion. I would rather individuals not get into the situation in the first place as the majority, if not all, undesired pregnancies are preventable. Being Pro-choice is about promoting the access to information, availability and use of effective birth control while supporting a woman's right to choose to carry a pregnancy to term or not.

As for being a parent, Ivanovich.

I have three children. No matter what the cause or circumstances of conception THEY ARE NOT MISTAKES. <3 They are the joy, center and motivation of my life. <3 Am I the most qualified to be raising them? Nope, don't hold a single qualification; I didn't need a certification to become a parent; I don't need to be paid to be a parent nor do I care to be; if I was given funding others may feel they have the right to control. Am I the best person for the job? At times definately, at others my partner, my family, my community are better and accept the responsibility freely. Raising children properly takes a community, not an individual. The myth of the North American nuclear family is crap.

Exactly! And I`m sure you`re a great parent!

As for the poor women chose abortions/rich women use birth control, I don`t know how it is where you`re from, but thats not really common here. In countries where abortions are illegal, women from rich families can afford going abroad to get safe abortions in private clinics while the rest have to do it illegally meaning they are at high risk of getting serious infections or dying during the procedure. Birth control isn`t 100% safe and can also be dangerous to some(there was a 16 year old girl here that got a blood clot in her lung because of them), and it won`t protect you from std`s. I really think the best way is to promote the use of condoms and all that rather than birth control pills. Really, no pills are good for you in the long term.

Mistakes. It's not easy watching those you love suffer. It's a very cruel world.

i'm sick of christians who say "all life is sacred" then support the death penalty. when you call them on it, they respond "HOW DARE YOU compare the most guilty to the most innocent?!" to which i respond "well, you just said ALL life is sacred, does that not include murderers?"

i've never gotten a fully coherent and heartfelt retort to that one.

I feel that as a women the system is rigged against you. If I have an abortion I'm called a whore, murderer and sinner. If I go through with the pregnancy, I might need food stamps and medicaid then I'm called lazy, low class, a welfare queen and a burden on society.
And for you gentlemen, if you push her to get an abortion then you are self-fish and an accessory to murder. If she gives birth and you're broke, then you are called a dead beat dad and don't meet society's standards of being a man. Either way, men or women, you cannot win.
Children need your attention and love. If you can't give it 100% and can't do the job at hand then don't put them through hardships they do not need. Someone people in this world do not deserve to have children. This is why I'm pro-choice.
