See im a punk and im an anarchist. Recently our school has stated that we can’t wear studded belts or bondage belts. Well they only in force it towards punks. Goth, emo, Scene all of them can wear what they want but we can’t. Anyone see the logic behind it. I just don’t get it. Do they see me and others as threats? I read a lot of Petter Kropotkin, Mikhail Bakunin, Noam Chomsky, and others. I can’t help but think it has something to do with my beliefs and my punk culture. It just proves that as long as Authority exists there is no freedom. :@

That’s what I was thinking. I had the idea to start an Anarchist student group to start printing some pamphlets about the problem in schools and abroad. Think it’s a good idea?

No. They don't give a fuck about you. They are just conservative and old fashioned people who don't like new youth and the way they are dressing. They are trying to 'prepare' you for 'civilized' world where, for example, you won't get a job if you wore that kind of clothes. Nothing else, no one sees you as a threat.

I just cant get how closed minded some people are. Its sad actually. Imagine what the world would be like if people weren’t so closed minded.

I'm kind of lucky, most of my teachers like old-school punk and industrial bands. I get away with spikes and bullet belts and whatnot, but my hall-monitor singled my friend out for wearing a shirt with a gun on it even though all of the ghetto people wear gun motifs on their sweatshirts.

You seriously should complain about it. Next time they tell you to take the belt off, point out someone (one of the goth, emo types) who is also wearing it and say that they are being discriminatory by only targeting your group of punks.

How did you deal with that kind of nonsense when you were in school? I'm just curious so I can a better response to those types of people instead of just ignoring them completely.

I have complained but they just give me a BS answer and say if I keep disobeying ill b suspended but you know I think its worth it. Who are they to say who I am. My brother is the only other punk at our school but he isn’t the stereo typical punk all the time (U know vest, jackets with studs. Belts. Not saying theres anything wrong with it. Its how I dress…anyway) they didn’t say anything to him till he was with me and then they told him not to wear his studded bracelet which convinced him that it was personal towards punks

They banned chain wallets and chains in general at my school for no apparent reason. I mean, really. The most you can do with one is whip someone with it but that's not going to damage you. I could do way more damage with a pencil :)

I'm literally the only punk person at my school and they've never enforced their rules with me (probably because the school board is corrupt and I could get their asses in major trouble.) They must think I'm psychotic or something since the freshman run in terror when they see me :ecouteurs:

You could ask them why they have such a stupid rule in place or wear your belts underneath a baggy band t-shirt if you like them that much.

Are you in one of those Bible Belt states?

Today one of the school administrators came up to me and said, "What's with the rings?" (he was referring to my bondage belt) he continued on "You look like you are a part of a circus." and then he proceeded to tell me to take off my bondage belt.
First off, a circus? He couldn't just tell me to take off the belt? He had to make his smart-ass comment by criticizing the way I was dressed? I don't tell him,"You look like a pompous asshole that looks like Super Mario on a power trip (he looks like Mario from the Super Mario videogame)
Second, I studied the dress code (which has a section for belts) and it says:
1.No initial, gang, drug,or alcohol emblems on belts or belt buckles.
2.Belts must fit without the end dangling.
3.Chains may not be used as belts.
My bondage belt does not violate any of these rules and nowhere in the dress code does it say "NO BONDAGE BELTS"
Third, at the beginning of the list of dress code violations it states, "Any item of clothing or other items brought to school which are deemed by the administration to be disruptive to the educational program are prohibited." My belt in no way is disruptive. It sometimes clanks on the chair when I sit down at the beginning of class, but that's it. I'm pretty sure that you could do the same damage with a regular leather belt if you wanted to use it as a weapon, so really there is no reason I can't wear my belt. What I think is occurring is a breakdown in due process. The school is a government funded facility, so therefore it should have to follow the same rules that the government has to follow. This means if there is a new law or rule that one administrator wants to add to the list of set rules, he would have to follow a similar procedure when creating this rule that we see in our republic/representative government. Which means he needs to sit down with other administrators at the district and they need to vote on the law. He does not have the right to see my belt and tell me I cannot wear it just because he doesn't like it. I would have brought this to his attention when he told me to take off my belt, but I didn't want him to notice the 4 or 5 dress code violations on my vest :lmao:, but what I'm trying to say is that like the government, school is very contradictory and is fully of hypocrites.

Same here. I read the dress code. Theres nothing in mine either. I find it weird that half the chicks in my school dress like hookers and wear stuff that’s against the dress code but mine isn’t and they seem to fixate on me. I agree I think their on a power trip. Must be nice bossing high school kids around. Their such badasses :lmao: What government and authority without hypocrisy :lmao:

Yeah even my hipster sister says that I should wear it and if he tells me shit, to tell him about all the stuff I posted right now. We don't usually agree, me being a punk and her being a hipster (the new modern day hippies), but I guess our left wing ideals unite us both against a common enemy.

Yeah I think you should. They say if I defy them they’ll suspend me but I don’t care. Free days off is awesome. My brothers a punk to but hes not a radical when it comes to politics so we disagree on things but with this he think I should keep wearing mine. Hes more of a socialist.

My school is oddly pretty lax on the dress code, I get away with wearing a "I'm Addicted to Leftover Crack" shirt I made in photography class last year and my friend got away with a "Fuck The Police" N.W.A. t-shirt, and people never get in trouble for shirts with weed leaves either. I feel sorry for you guys.
