    What's up everyone?

My name is ish, I'm from California but currently living in Japan. I wouldn't label myself as a "punk" but I strongly agree with a lot of the ideas surrounding the movement. A lot of the people close to me are into the underground scene. I been to some shows out in the desert and down in the sewers. Very DIY type style stuff. I dug it. The sense of real freedom tripped me out. No cops, security guards, or anybody watching to make sure you didn't get out of hand. Seems like everywhere else, there's always a set of eyes on you.

Straight up, I'm a writer trying to get a new style off the ground "Gutter Surrealism." Blubber Island is dirty, violent, funny, and philosophical. It's also really influenced by the sewers shows and how the punks I kicked it with rolled. I wrote a blog post "Gutter Surrealism and Punk Culture" which has gotten hits from not just the US but over Europe also. So I know there's a message of unity in there. blubberisland.wordpress.com/ if you want check it out.

We're living in a time when our minds are under constant attack. People are more troubled by the clothes they wear than the extermination of human beings and they're right to live and even think freely. I'm always bringing this up and people ask me "what are you doing about it?" I got tired of doing nothing but talking, so I wrote a book.

Look, I'm no political scientist. I'm not trying to be another Noam Chomsky or Che Guevara. My way of getting out a message of human freedom is through story telling. Sadly, the book industry (much like the music industry) is largely designed to support and protect an imperialist agenda. anything that has a real message is either dismissed or attacked. I don't want to waste my time at a bunch of dead ends trying to please a brain dead audience. that's why i'm doing something that's DIY.

Blubber Island is a story about two homeless teenagers getting a hold of a dream device that can potentially destroy reality itself. Blubber Island asks: Is human freedom better off without reality?

I think this type of anarchistic fiction would fall in line with anarchy punks. I want to circulate free copies of my book. i did self publish Blubber Island but i'm not here trying to make a buck. I want to get my book out to the anarchist global community and be active in a movement for a more progressive world. Anyone who's interested, you can email me at ismaelggalvan@gmail.com I'm cool with you sharing the file after you get it. I'm here to connect with like minded people so hit me up.

Also if any writers, poets, rhymers, lyric writers, need feedback, feel free to hit me up. thanks.

I've got a booklist that is a bit ridiculous. Currently reading a China Mieville book then I have two books that I need to finish off. However, after that I might be able to give this a read. Sounds intriguing. I've also got some writing of my own to sort out. I do agree with your comments on the book industry being fairly shitty - biggest book crazes in recent years? Harry fucking Potter and 50 Shades of fucking Grey (Gray?).

And welcome to the site. Feel free to join the discussions. It ain't all just about punk music.

Caps, thanks for the welcome homie. I checked up on China Mieville. His track record is impressive as fuck. Living in Japan makes it difficult to get books in English but this guy is definitely worth the effort. It's interesting you mentioned Harry Potter. My brother and I have the same conversations. Grown men and women, college students, reading a children's book about wizard trying to hair on nuts. It's all part of the systematic dumbing down of America. Being an anti-intellectual is the in thing. It'd actually be pretty funny if you could ignore all the horrid shit resulting from it.

I felt I needed to do something to battle against this "war on common sense" so I wrote a story that urges people not to surrender their minds. Is there a way I can give you the file here, or just post it in general so that anyone can grab it? I want to circulate it in the punk community. My wife and I are independent writers who are trying to reach the point of becoming successful, but we also believe in hooking up the people we're apart of. Professionally though we teach English at Okinawan public schools.

So yeah, just let know how I can get the story to you. Look up Japanese writer Haruki Murakami, his work "Hard boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" is a personal favorite.

shizyninja: you can put it in the 'other downloads' section or 'non-punk anarcho' section as a downloadable PDF or other type of readable file..

Punkmarr77, thanks. Is there a way I can upload the PDF file directly on the post? Or do i have to create a link to an outside source?

Reminds me a little bit of an old film I saw, I don't recall the name of it off hand. They put these devices on their heads and enter a 'dream world', and it becomes an addiction...

if you want to give some away, try these guys, they might be interested. They're in London. They have a borrowing facility as well as books for sale - http://www.56a.org.uk/

Are you thinking about "Strange Days"? That's a great movie even if it's not the one you're thinking about. My book is more on the dark comedy / fantasy side. Thanks for the site. I'm already sharing it on zinelibrary.info. If your interested I can send you the file. Zombies, speed addicted neo nazi's, shot outs with the cops, doomsday device, that whole thing.

Nope, I haven't seen Strange Days - I'll check that out sometime. The film I was thinking of was 'until the end of the world' it's pretty old, it's got william hurt in it. It's heavy going in it's original entirety, over 4hours long.

I often think if they develop 'holographic' technology, people are gonna be spending more time in fantasy world than out!

Have you got a DL for your book? Cheers.

I got "until the end of the world" on my IMDB watchlist. You'll trip out on "Strange Days." In the future people trip out on "data" not chemical drugs. Great movie, check it out.

You can down load my book at http://zinelibrary.info/ or you can message me your email and I can send it you directly.

I'm also doing a blog to help get the word out. http://blubberisland.wordpress.com/

You need an outside file hosting. Mediafire.com should do the job.

If you´re already sharing it at that zinelibrary site just post that link in the download...and put a description with the cover art too, I think the PDF has to be shared already or 'published' online to share it here but I could be wrong...shit just add all that info under the download and if it doesn't work, I can edit it...

No, problem. I think it's a message worth sharing, besides just being somewhat of a mind-fuck. Enjoy and spread it around. : )

okay mate, I'll email you when I've finished reading it. I'm leaving this forum. Ha, getting sick of someone trolling me, and too much 'do it my way or fuck off' condescending oppressive crap, so much for freedom to express an opinion! I'm sure your book will be very relevant...
