    Re: ever made wheat meat?

Seasoning is the biggest problem with faux meats, even pre-seasoned one are a little gross most of the time. You also have to be more careful with how you cook things, most faux meets don't cook the exact same as flesh.

I've made this before. All the ingredients are very easy to pick up in the UK. I'd recommend to all, not just vegans. Rich, creamy joy.

Squash, Coconut & Pistachio Curry Recipe.

    Serves 4

    - Peel, de-seed and cut 1 large butternut squash into chunks.
    - Fry 1 tbsp of yellow mustard seeds, 10 curry leaves, 2 chopped onions, 2 dried red indian chillies, 1 tbsp garam masala, 2 tsp ground corriander and 2 tsp tumeric in 2-3 tbsp sunflower oil.
    - When the onion is soft add the squash a 400g tin of coconut milk, 50g of sultanas and half the coconut tin full of water. Simmer 25-30 minutes until the squash is tender.
    - Stir in a small bunch of roughly chopped coriander and season. Scatter with a handful of chopped pistachios.

    Serve with your prefered rice

Re: juck food advertising making people obese

I'm 119 pounds and I eat junk food daily, I just portion it so I'm not become a glutton which is the problem with most people. Also some people eat their problems, but that's a whole different complex issue.

But fuck corporate junk food suppliers. My friend made her own vegan-ized version of Reeses and got a lot of servings for a fraction of the price. With a little effort you can bootleg your ANY of your favorite snacks.

i thought i had posted in the wrong topic for a sec.
well, we`re not all healthy, balanced individuals. i either eat the whole damn pack of cookies/drink the whole damn six pack or i go get myself a fucking banana. thats it. no "servings" of two cookies for me plz. i feel shitty if i eat junk food daily anyway.
but admire the ones that can stop on half a cup of ice cream though. thats willpower for ya.

Yes! Right on to the ppk - I took my first swing at homemade wheat meat this weekend (loosely based on this) it was dead easy and it was a succulent success.

Got leftover nutritional yeast after making wheat meat? Sprinkle it on popcorn. V. tasty.

Also, right on to the vegan black metal chef (my favourite part is “a lime is optional!”) my vegan, metal head colleague, she loves that guy.

Tofu scrambles also get a lot of action in my kitchen.

For the record, I’m not vegan or even vegetarian – I like to say I’m vegetarian in practice, but not in theory – I like meat, but I rarely eat it. Hence the adventures in wheat meat, etc.

    vegetarianism.

hi all i just wanted to say that iv been vegetarian for a whole year. i feel healthier, iv learnt how to cook like a bad ass (which is good) and see my self being veggie for the rest of my life. before i turned veggie i always had problems with wight (skinny white boy disease) but since iv been veggie i seem to be able to keep more weight on which goes to prove that vegetarians are not skinny fuckers and the myth that we need meat in our diet is a bloody myth, i actually had a teacher in college who was veggie and he was one big dude (best teacher ever). the rest of my family are meat eaters but cos my cooking is so good they eat meat allot less than they used to. some of my favorite meals are veggie lasagna, veggie curry and any Italian dishes.

i was wondering if any one had a tasty veggie recipe they would like to share with me for my first anniversary of being veggie.

    Re: vegetarianism.

I've just came from my lunch at veggie restaurant and I've eaten falafel burger, the best thing i've had in a long time. Other than that, I can't recommend anything since my cooking skills are extremely bad and I mostly eat beans, tofu, qunoia mixed in some salad ( with tomatos, rise, cheese and eggs from time to time and so on ). Now I'm hungry again, thanks :ecouteurs:

    Re: vegetarianism.

Ah, well, seeing you making some cool stuff i decided to post how I do 'protein-bomb' veggie salad :)

You need : one deep plate ( or big cup, or wherever you can put the salad )

sunflower seeds ( 4-5 tablespoons, boiled with quinoa and lentil for only 2-3 mins )
quinoa ( as much as you can eat, it is the best protein food you can get as vegan, boil it for 10 mins )
beans ( as much as you want, very good carbohydrates source with low fat )
lentil ( as much as you want, very good protein source, 26g proteins on 100g )
    tomato ( tasty ! )
    cucumber ( tasty ! )

optional ( if you like it / if you're no vegan ):
onion ( I don't like it, put it if you like it )
eggs ( 2 should be enough for 2 persons, just boil them and cut them as you like )
mozzarella / feta ( type of cheese, it's tasty and has much proteins)

You put quinoa for 10mins to boil, lentil at 1st min and sunflower at 7-8th min. Boil beans as well, preferably in separate cookware. Just wash tomatos / cucumber / onion and put them in. When it's all on one plate / cup put olive oil which is the healthiest ( don't use any other, they suck ). If you have questions, just ask. Don't eat this if you don't have problems with proteins or if you're not training a sport which is very hard ( for muscles, for example powerlifting ) because you'll get tons of proteins / carbohydrates from this which you don't really need and it's not really cheep

    Re: vegetarianism.

i just found a recipe for Borscht and it sounds wonderful, its pretty much beetroot soup, i love beetroot and think i will give the meal ago. i found 2 different recipes and one said to leave the beetroot sit in water for up to a week, then scrape of the mold from the top before using (thats punk as fuck) i dont think ill use this one as i dont want to leave beetroot go moldy then eat it. the other recipe said to boil the beet with lemon juice to get the same taste.
