Hello everyone, my name is Ruy, I'm 38 and I'm from Portugal. I live in Arruda dos Vinhos, a village near Lisbon (±30km), the main city and Portuguese capital.

I found APN by googling "Coluna de Ferro", which is the name of a former Portuguese anarcho-punk band where I played guitar in 2008. After the break-up of Coluna de Ferro, I started a new project in 2009 named Miss Cadaver, sung in Portuguese as well and where I can express all the anger and nonconformity towards many things. I do the vocals, guitar and bass duties besides all the composition. You can download the songs here at APN or search it in YouTube.

I live in a total fucked-up country where the sun shines but the corruption reigns supreme. The country of Fado is getting poorer everyday and one of the reasons, besides the roting politicians, the failure of justice, the increasing unemployment, was this shit:

DOOM is one of my favourites among many others.

Hope to have a good time and cheers to you all!

    Hey Ruy!
Going to Portugal on Saturday, Monchique, near Algarve. Any tips? Is there even a punk/rock scene down there? Or is it Lisboa you have to go to?
    Cheers!

    Hi there!
I don't know if you've already been in Portugal but now it's Summer here and there are a lot of regional celebrations (mostly in honor of popular saints) where you can taste the typical cuisine and have a really good time. These celebrations are always accompanied by traditional music and popular artists and a lot of ... wine!! If you're more into beer (if you drink, of course), than ask for a fresh Super Bock - a Portuguese brand - but beware of equilibrium... :lmao:

Near, you have some typical villages such as Alte (Loulé), you have the beaches and all the Summer frenzy, specially at Albufeira, Portimão or Lagos, and you have the legendary Eddie's Bar in Santa Bárbara de Nexe, near Faro, the capital of Algarve. It's a bar owned by Steve Harris, the bassist of Iron Maiden.

Algarve has a bunch of good bands but it's somehow difficult there unfortunately. The centralism of Lisbon does not help.

By the way, near Monchique you have Aljustrel (land of miners and freedoom fighters!), the Portuguese anarchist main spot where you can find the collective "Gonçalves Correia" (http://goncalvescorreia.blogspot.pt), which gained the name from the most well-known Portuguese anarchist, António Gonçalves Correia.

Have a good time there! ;)

    Thanx man!
Been there before and know about the excellent wine and Super bock ofcourse. Also been to some kind of sardinia festival, really nice (Portimao, maybe?). Haven't heard of Eddie's bar though, will check that one out.
Aljustrel sounds really interesting! Haven't heard of it, will definitely check it out!
Maybe work on my surfing skills as well :)
Ok, thanx alot and take care,
    Thomas
