Free the NATO 5!

Mark Neiweem and his four comrades remain locked away from this world because Illinois, US Mayor 1% Rahm Emanuel and Chief Garry McCarthy needed to justify police harassment, intimidation, brutality, and repression leading up to the NATO Summit.

He called my girlfriend from the Cook County Jail this morning shortly after his release from the jail hospital. Last week, he was placed in handcuffs and dragged by several guards to a remote area where there are no cameras and was severely beaten.

His court hearing begins tomorrow at 10 am CST. Please show solidarity in any way that you can. The following link has contact information for the prisoners and a donations page to assist with the cost of the trial.

I apologize about the late response but I've been extremely busy the past few weeks. A benefit gig is being put together in Austin, TX to help support prisoners of conscience. The gig will be highlighting the case of Pussy Riot with proceeds going toward assisting the NATO 5 in their legal defense. The show is happening at the Elysium on 12 October; bands that are committed to playing are:

Black Salve
Panjoma

We're running on a shoe string budget as always so we're selling buttons and patches that are based on a design that one of the NATO 5 created and tattooed on his arm in a show of solidarity with the other 4 prisoners. But now I'm looking at these Pussy Riot shirts for sale on the No Gods No Masters website and I'm considering throwing down $200 for those shirts and selling them at the gig.

We're still booking bands for the event. If you know any bands traveling through Texas during the month of October, have them contact me through this website. I'm going to be more pro-active about checking the message boards between now and then.

Thanks for putting things into context. Although, I didn't necessarily agree with everything he said, I rather liked Ivanovich and wish he wouldn't have left the forum. I was interested in talking to him more as it sounded like he was once in a band that had a track on the infamous Bullshit Detector comps and I was hoping to talk to him more about his experience with that. It didn't sound very positive but I still wanted to get his perspective. He had quite a bit to say in that whole Crass debacle and I think he would have been an excellent source to hear more from.

I wish people in this forum fought less with each other and more with the fuckers in power. I'm still fairly new to this forum and feel a little frustrated by all the bickering that goes on.
