Wake up, anarchists bands and organizations from all over the world are on facebook.

I don't see what's wrong by having a facebook account to tell people to use anarcho-punk.net instead of facebook. That's like going to McDonalds to tell people to buy at another restaurent.

No, if you understood how facebook ads works you wouldnt say that. Just by giving out your personnal informations and where you live (anyway they detect it automatically) you contribute to their database of personnal infos, and this is what they are using to sell their ads.

And anyway, even if you block the ads you are still giving them money, because they get paid for each ads displayed, even if you blocked it.
The only thing that ad blockers can change is that you wont be able to click on the ad. And you will not see it, but the server still displays it to your browser.

Everytime I try to use the link, facebook automatically redirects me to my own homepage.

Ah, that would explain it... no, wait, it doesn't explain why it takes me back to my homepage rather than, you know, 404ing! God Facebook sucks!

Rupert Murdoch is out of the Myspace game. Everyone should go back to that. I mean if they ever got it working right. It was fucked with adds a few years ago.

Of course if that use is involved, you create new data, so you help give money to facebook by registering on the site.
In your opinion, why the guy who created facebook is it rich?

So every activist who has a FB account is antithetical to anarchism?

[EDIT:] I mean even using a browser, you're supporting some rich fool right? Like Bill Gates. Maybe Zuckerberg, who cares. Essentially if you're using the internet, you're making a rich man richer, but sometimes you just have to give in for the sake of further organizing. I NEVER, and I repeat NEVER, shop at Walmart, but before LA, OC, and Riversides action against Walmart on F29, the night before, the only store open...Walmart. Though I never attempt to have to justify things, I was more concerned about the outcomes of my friends and allies health that I went in and bought walmart brand malox just so I had a teargas neutralizer for the action the next day..

I think, it is not necessary to have a FB account especially when you have definite political ideas.
If you want to communicate you have lot of forums of musics, point of view, like this forum..and you don't contributed to the financing of multinationals and the Stock Exchange..
