    Oh, a man of taste!

A defining album for me, my favourite record by my favourite band.

R,SatL, and Red Roses for Me are close behind, and the rest aren't too far away, either.

I love all their stuff.. a band with very few bad songs (most of which are on the boxset... but most of the boxset is great!) I even love their non shane mac stuff... I could go on, but i'll stop gushing here :)

There are some great rarities bootlegs out there, covering the bands entire career, and Shanes time with the Popes (who are also pretty bloody great!)

Also, I'm going to add pretty much anything by Godflesh under here. They've always been a close second to Carcass in terms of my favorite band.

Oh man. I could never have a favorite, because I think there are so many bands that are awesome for different reasons that you can't compare and rank with. So I don't have a favorite band or anything. But I have 'current favorites', which is just what I'm really listening to/into at the moment. And right now that's a lot of riot folk/punk:

Two records I really love from Mischief Brew (Erik Petersen is a genius):
    Smash the Windows
    Songs From Under the Sink

I really love Andrew Jackson Jihad too, who just released a new record
(that I bought finally when they came to do a show here), - Can't Maintain.
I also love the record AJJ and Ghost Mice did a split on.

Ryan Harvey's awesome with words too. Really radical, and a good
    lyricist.

I like Against Me!, even though they have a lot of negative connotation to
    their name now.

They're not folk, but I'm a long time fan of Fugazi.
For the most part I prefer to be able to understand (or at least almost)
the singer when they sing, in most punk bands. I mean, I'm all for the
yelling and whatever, but I draw a line for myself at some point.
It can't be just noise and a bunch of yelling. I mean, I could like it for it's
raw emotion and stuff, but I can't honestly say "oh that's amazing!"
I have a musician's ear so it's really not. There's got to be some musicality there.

Um, I mean there's the classics too, like The Ramones, The Clash etc.
I'm not a metal head but I like a little.

See this is what I dont agree with, alot of the most outspoken banks in punk/hardcore have the singing style your against, which in turn you are subjectively turning yourself off from some seriously amazing music.

If you took the time to actually understand why they sing/play the way they do youd be a tad enlightened.

Also, in this day of music downloading, alot of music is "lost" on the masses as people dont have the lyric sheet to what people are singing.

    Its called buy the records.

Ahh yeah, I don't know if we're on the same page. I
probably didn't use the right words. I don't really know how
to explain myself other than what I said, but trying to elaborate
more I guess... mindless screaming? Like, terrible lyrics and just
yelling for the sake of yelling. Like it's just the thing to do and there's
no reason for it. Sorry, I don't know if it's 'popular' or whatever, where
you're from, but over here, the "hardcore scene" is really popular.

And I mean the new school 'hardcore'. Ugh I don't even know what to
say about it. Just leaves a bad taste. Um.. I don't know. See, if you don't have
it over where you're from (if so, you're a lucky bastard), it's hard for me to
explain. I don't really know a ton of bands off the top of my head.
Just "screamo", "straight edge hxc", everyone's got their lip pierced..
swallow tattoos.. all of that that goes with it. That's really what I meant by it.
    It's really just terrible shit.

I do buy records, I love physical music. Being able to have it in your hand,
the song book, the sleeve, etc. So I totally agree with you there.

Ahh, a Minutemen fan! I'd have to say they're not my favorite band, but they're definitely in the top 25. I'm more of a fan of 'What Makes a Man Start Fires?'.

    Probably for me:
The Germs - 'G.I.' (And no, I don't shop at Hot Topic. They've been my favorite band ever since I read 'American Hardcore', 'We've Got The Neutron Bomb: The Untold Story of L.A. Punk', and 'Lexicon Devil: The Fast Times and Short Life of Darby Crash'. I find Jan Paul Beahm to be a poet, and truly intelligent. Among Gerog Ruthenburg to be an amazing guitarist.)

David Bowie - 'Diamond Dogs' (Or any album before 1980)

    Lou Reed - 'Transformer'

    Swing Kids - 7" or 12"

    T.Rex - 'Electric Warrior'

    Reagan Youth - 'Volume 1'

Mankind? - 'Won't You Join The Army Now So You Can Fight...'

    The Locust - 'The Locust'

    or

Youth Of Today - 'We're Not In This Alone'

Cras is not my favorite band, but they are one of them so my favorite record would probably be The Feeding Of The 5000 because it completely changed the way I think!

    The Crossing - Big Country
Best Ebow playing you will ever hear

The Buffalo Skinners - Big Country
Nice for a bit of protest rock

    Sabbat - Dreamweaver
Pure British thrash concept album, History of a Time to Come is also great (both are really a dig at religion)

To Mega Therion - Celtic Frost
    Avant Garde thrash metal

    Reign in Blood - Slayer
Just love Kerry King's guitar playing

    Funhouse - The Stooges
    Love the riff in T.V.Eye

Too many other Anarcho, punk, thrash, crust, heavy metal, hard-rock albums to mention
