To me it seems our youth is being affected by the social networking age. Myspace, Facebook, Twitter ect. I personally have never logged into myspace nor twitter. My only use of facebook is to keep in touch with the people I play music with and to find the next show that is going around town. The town I am in has a very low Anarcho view point now. When I was the child growing up I was the one spray painting on banks and large business buildings set up old buildings for shows all of that shit just to keep a passion alive. It seems that this generation has to much time spent on computers and phones to actually do anything. I understand this is a social networking/blogging site but in defense of this I am here reading and viewing other peoples opinions not wondering what you are all doing every 25 minuets waiting on a new post to come up. I want to see the kids that are following the Anarcho lifestyle to just start doing more in your communities and get back to the basics of it all. I can't speak for everyone posting on this site or all over the world but I would like to see the digital revolution die down just a little bit.

    Opinions anyone?

It's not just the youth. I've recently visited a couple of my punk friends and instead of hanging out and discussing things all they do is be on their iphones or whatever and barely pay attention to what is being talked about. Its especially bad when there is a group of people doing this. I miss the days before cell phones and the internet were rampant and people actually communicated face to face and not through a fucking screen. I've even seen people text each other or talk on facebook while their in the same room which is disgusting. It saddens me when I see punks falling into this shit along with everyone else.

The means of communication we use and the degree of technology we are subject to totalistically affect our biochemistry, way of life, communication, what we are communicating, what we are thinking about, what we can express... down even to the technology of language... in short, technology is anything but neutral... it molds us as malleable organic living animal individual beings and communities to fit the needs of technological progress.

Your mind is not like a computer... Your mind is a computer...BULLSHIT!!!

The thing is we have to mentally deconstruct it all and all the bullshit that goes along with it... just like any other critique from an anarchist perspective... except we are compelled to do this or be subject to the psychic effects of high technology and it's monopolation and manipulation of communication... most people don't or can't see/work through it... so they are swept away by it... the constant flow of mass information... a deluge... swamping our psyches... it is destined to not last... plus then there is the whole nature of dependency and the physical infrastructure... we must eliminate the material conditions for this scale of technology to exist for use at the hands of civilizers and industrialists and technocrats and cops.

Awe shit, and welcome! just noticed that this was your first post! Great first post, stick around and discuss ideas!

NOBODY ATTACK THIS GUY FOR STRAIGHT UP INDICTING TECHNOLOGY!

    MUTHA FUCK TECHNOLOGICAL NEUTRALITY!!!

I think this is a loaded fucking statement. I have spraypainted 100's of buildings and street signs, recently received a head injury from a cop in Chicago during NATO Summit protests, and I use Facebook to actually find where activist meetings, free classes, "really free markets", and other cool shit. When the FBI gets too close for comfort, such as showing up at my arrest to inform the pigs theyve been monitoring me for months, yeah, i go ahead and deactivate my facebook and twitter. When I do that, though, I end up isolating myself. The fact is, even in metro areas it seems activists are strewn apart due to work and living conditions and most if not all of us would not have met if not for the internet. The fact is, the ultraleft is part of a severely marginalized group just about anywhere you go, but just like the ultraright, what we do creates massive dissent. Our actions, our music resounds in waves not through mirrored actions of solidarity, however important solidarity is, but through our actions resonating in the public's minds. I would love for nearly everyone in America to get out and do shit we do, but the fact is they are just too damn comfortable to do so. So therefore, as for now, we will remain a marginalized group. I think the internet is a fantastic fucking tool. The internet has brought together all sorts of people, ideas, organizations, ect. that before never would have been possible. Still, nothing's better then just running into another anarchist, or even anarchopunk while shopping, at a bar, at the park, ect.. I mean for starters I was introduced to punk not through the internet, and the same with anarchy. It was people and touchable, tangible things that I interacted with. But it left me with an insatiable desire for more. So during downtime of anything going on, what did I do? When there was no band practice, no shows, no parties, no late vandalism? I perused the inter webs in search of like-minded individuals. It wasn't the ignition, but it gave fuel to the fire.

Your whole post is talking about use of... not what these complex systems depend on, who/how they were put into effect or what their effect on life is... ALL HIGH TECHNOLOGY IS WAR TECHNOLOGY!!! :lmao: You are in effect saying nothing, not actually making any valid point... :/ Use by no means = complicity, the totality must be resisted by all means necessary.

Bar none, I wouldn't listen to even a quarter of the music I listen to if it wasn't for the internet and as mere archive and long distance communications technology I would actually say that it has some potential. ... Bu at what costs? The way the internet currently functions is in the interest of capital and coercive power... it is a market, a superimposed grid, it totalitarian. If it could be used like the ansible and serving the same functions...? Well it could be useful but we are not at that point yet, we do not know yet if the internet will be salvagable for use post collapse.

And you are in effect doing nothing but badgering a reliable organizational tool. What you're rambling on about sounds alot like the anarcho-primitivist junk I was into for a couple of years, but the fact is man that metro city areas are the most sustainable way of living, and not us expanding everywhere creating a path of destruction. In these metro city areas we could have computer networks that aren't facilitated and managed by capitalism, but out of community necessity for communication, organizing and sharing. Would it be possible to keep these metro city areas connected? I'm not sure, and don't think that all connected would be necessary, but I am definitely for putting more emphasis on public transportation, bicycles and walking over every god damn amerikkkan needing a damn car for that drive to McDonald's 5 blocks down. The fact is, the shit's been built and it's here. We don't need to be massively reproducing it, fuck, we actually could keep recycling most of it and keep production as minimal as possible, but to eradicate all high technology is to eradicate a wealth of information that continues to liberate minds and communities alike. You are spelling the next cycle of disaster for mankind by obliterating it, and frankly I think that's an extremely infantile and destructive position. I support the right of some communities to choose an anarcho-primitivist decision for themselves, but to declare war on all high-end technology is something I'm willing to fight against just as quickly as I am against any nationalist or capitalist.

You my friend don't know what the fuck you are talking about... I don't want this to happen in this thread... FUCKING DROP IT. YOU ARE NOT MAKING ANY VALID POINTS AND ARE COMING FROM ... I DON"T EVEN KNOW WHERE... A CITY IS INHERENTLY UNSUSTAINABLE... "BECAUSE IT REQUIRES EXPLOITATION IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN A CROP CIRCLE" A CITY FUNDAMENTALLY IS AN ARTIFICIAL DESERT THAT REQUIRES THE IMPORTATION OF RESOURCES DEPLETED FROM THE OVEROCCUPIED LANDBASE. I am so fucking sorry for critiquing your precious internetz...AND FUCK... why are you so defensive of something that you have no personal investment in, fundamentally alters the way humans communicate, and requires massive resource usage and systemic organization... FUCK THAT SHIT.

The internet could be used as a valuable information archive and for sustainable communities to communicate over great distance.
AND TO COMBAT EMPIRE WHILE CIVILIZATION STILL EXISTS!!!

RESIST BY ALL MEANS AT OUR DISPOSAL!!!

How the fuck did I miss this absurd statement???

The first half is just like the most absurd thing I have ever heard. And the other half is pure pipe dream.

Listen man, I would respectfully analyze any valid point you bring up but so far your analysis, critique and argument have been incredibly weak...

Just one thing... Where is your dream city getting its resources from???

because being critical of the internet makes you sort of a hypocrite if you use it and advocate destroying it.

Listen you stupid little anarchoprimmie fuck. I try to have a nice, civil debate with you and you regurgitate the same recycled garbage like every god damn anarcho-primmie does. I was into John Zerzan for 2 years.. but then I realized he's been saying the same line for the past 20 years. You have no substantial way to prevent civilization from cropping back up again after it collapses. Not a single god damn fucking way, at all. Nothing, nada. Don't give me that campfire storytelling bullshit, either. Civilizations have collapsed only to have the dead carcass of it rise up again.. and again... and even anarcho-primitivists have wrote about it. They have also wrote about the past storytellers who didn't do a damn bit of good. Why? Because in the struggle against civilization, you become a war machine, that becomes civilization, too. There's always a bad apple that decides things can become "property". So, instead of ignoring the fact civilization is inevitably a parallel with human existence, I am going to acknowledge that fact and work to scale back civilization as much as we can while still creating a space for information sharing that isn't just some whimsical idea repeated in long, drawn out retarded paragraphs by a bunch of god damn nature walkers. You want us to erase all recorded history of the left, for an endless fucking cave-dwelling, campfire storytelling fiasco. Then civilization crops up, and what if fascism wins that time? It may take another name, a slightly different form, but what if it succeeds?

Anyways, when you anarcho-primmies are done being arrogant after the revolution, me and my anarcho-communist/anarcho-syndicalist community will be more then happy to have an open debate with yours if issues should arise about our scaled back civilization affecting yours. Yes, a metro city area needs agriculture from the surrounding area to sustain its life. We don't need highways down every corridor of nature, though. We don't need endless deforestation. I am green, but not primmie. Grown up and learn how to work with others.

Please man, stop... I am really not trying to argue with you at all... I am VERY open to real critique. Please stop. Zerzen was not even my intro to anarcho primitivist anti politics... GO POST ON PIX BOARD IF YOU ARE GOING TO FLAME LIKE THIS. Green anarchy IS A CRITIQUE OF OUR CURRENT REALITY. It Is completley open ended...anything but rigid. WHY are you so defensive????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? You are also only responding to certain posts I have made... that alone discredits your argument by degree!

Regardless, post collapse I am sure we'll be fine with each other as long as anarcho communists DON"T SYSTEMATICALLY ELIMINATE ALL OTHER WAYS OF EXISTENCE...yeah, we'll probably be fine providing there is no vanguard party bullshit. The reality is that post collapse and even now very much so, the earth can simply not continue to support the current standard of living or anything to similar to it...namely large scale agriculture or a culture of cities.

SO FUCKING WHAT IF YOU USED TO BE AN "anarcho-primmie", your ideas and my ideas ARE NOT FUCKING INTERCHANGABLE!!!!! FUCK... You also failed to address or even recognize anything I actually expressed in that post... which is a serious problem of perception... So I "regurgitate the same recycled garbage like every god damn anarcho-primmie does"? Well no fucking shit... just look the fuck around... it is fucking self evident and does not even always come from a purely anarchist perspective... it is fucking everywhere...our global civilization is fucking collapsing...fucking eating itself...it is an issue of perspective and perception...it is there for all of us to see, we just need to fucking see it...then act on it... Your statement precludes the idea that green anarchy is some sort of limited perspective... It is fucking vast and deep... because civilization has been the condition under which we have been subjected to for so fucking long. Previous civilizations have collapsed into each other but that cannot happen with our current civilization... THERE IS NO WHERE ELSE TO FUCKING GO!!! THE EARTH CAN NO LONGER SUPPORT THE MEANS TO SUSTAIN CIVILIZED EXISTENCE!!! THE FUTURE IS FUCKING UNWRITTEN!
