I've been sorting through my record collection and came across albums by the 4 Skins, Argy Bargy, The Last Resort and Condemned 84. I was just wondering if these bands are considered racist, as i am very much against racism and don't want to be listening to them if they are dodgy.

Phew where do you start, there's another post related to this.

virtually all these bands are right wing patriotic and some will be xenophobic.

4 skins had a mixture of politics in its ranks from right wing to liberal.

argy bargy may have mixed race members.

    c84 uber patriotic anti-leftist.

last resort - just toured the uk many nazis at the gigs.

some bands will hide racism but many seems to complain about immigrants.

    Avoid those bands.

Condemned 84 is more than ambigous. Read this topic:
    viewtopic.php?f=31&p=54583#p54583

4 skins last album is racist, read this topic:
    viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4684

last resort - patriot and RAC. featuring a split with RAC band condemned 84

argy bargy - not sure, not as worse as the other bands

more info on that please ?

I had a discussion on another forum about this, so I wanted to ask you, what do you think about listening to a band that has fascist views, though some of their albums aren't fascist ?( example is Skrewdriver if I'm not wrong, and 4-skins ).

I agree with my friend Ivanovich on this. Why listen to that fuckin shit if it's racist. Some Skins it seems enjoy listening to RAC but I am like why? The shit sucks, musical it is fucking sewage for your ears. Lyrics are Bullshit, they can't play either. But hey I like some shit that sounds like pure fuckin noise. But at least it is not screaming jackass nazi shit.
As for the Screwdriver stuff. FUCK IAN STUART DONALDSON HE CAN BURN IN FUCKING HELL. FASCIST SCUM. He was a talentless poser punk musician who's music sucked so he shaved his head & jumped on the RAC jump wagon to sell more records & shit from what I understand. It's like Deek Allen of Oi Polloi said in a vid I saw on youtube. He said something like that they are nice people & very tolerant but one thing they are not tolerant of is fucking fascism or fuckin fence sitters. "People who think early Screwdriver is OK..."
As for The 4 Skins early stuff with Hoxton Tom is cool. He was probably the coolest Suedehead ever. But from what I kinda read on here the new 4 skins, The Gary Hodges' 4 Skins is your typical flag waving fascist xenophobic bullshit RAC trying to pass it's self off as OI. FUCK GARY HODGES & FUCK HIS NEW 4 SKINS! I GOT A 4 SKIN FOR HIM. Sorry This was not an attack on you just an attack on bullshit RAC N ROLL. I fuckin hate that shit man. :antifa: I mean just ask yourself my friend, would u pay hard earned money to see & support these fucking Nazi jerkoffs? I would not pay, no fuckin way...

Nah Brother I am not the type to tell someone what to do. If you want to listen to it that is your biz. But I won't play that shit myself. For many good reasons, plus I think too many people way over rate that first album as some "punk classic". I personally was not very impressed by it or found it memorable in any way. I couldn't tell you a track off it. It's just to me there are so many great obscure bands & albums from that time period that I would rather check out then spend my time supporting (by listening to) some over rated garbage like that. Anarchists should not listen to that shit themselves. But that is my opinion... You might think differ. & I respect that.

Well I'd say just find some other bands you know are legit to get the musical fix you get from them (I know that sounds kinda dumb) this is like when I found out the exploited wear fake Nazi clown it was a big blow considering that band got me into punk and the music they made will allways hold a spot in my heart but I personaly hate every member and don't listen to them any more.

If music aint nazi, but I know the guys playing it are, I not gonna listen. I not gonna support them in any way. There are plenty of obscure legit bands that deserve my attention far more, I'd rather spent my time/money supporting them. And this 'I aint supporting them cos I stole it' excuse is bullshit, just listening is supporting them. It's free publicity. No way - fuck 'em, bury 'em. Dead and forgotten is only place for them.

That's still contributing to fund and support fascists.

Would you be a fan of Hitler's painting even if it was before he became a dictator ?

Dude, Ian Stuart CREATED the RAC movement. He didn't jump on a wagon. We can say a lot of shit about him, but the ideas he put forward were very vanguard. He's an opportunist who tryed to reappropriate the skinhead movement, but it was vanguard to put forward the idea of RAC as an answer to Rock Against Racism, which led to the creation of Blood & Honour and Combat 18.

Yeah, it's also on a live recording album

Yes, i have a big problem with that.

Back in the time you would have an excuse because you wouldn't know what they would become. But today we all know what Skrewdriver stands for, there is no excuse to listen to their shit, that's still making them publicity.

They were still nazi in their first album, they just didn't express in their lyrics.
Would you listen to a nazi band that doesnt have explicit nazi lyrics ? If the answer is "no" then you shouldn't listen to early Skrewdriver shit.

Ungov, I knew about the spawning of Blood & Honour, Combat 18 out of the RAC shit but yeah you are right RAC WAS a response to Rock Against Racism. As for the lineup on Screwdriver, I read Ian was the only original member from their "Punk Days" they tried to make it but sucked & failed, the band broke up but he reformed it with a new lineup & joined the NF it was I think.

It's sad, because some people still see antifascism as a joke here on Balkan.

Well fuck them Buddy. This ain't a joke. We will be the ones laughing in the end! That is why people like you & I need to show them this is very real. Most Fascists are lost causes, the only thing they understand is violence. So you have to defend yourself. Anarcho-Pacifism is a big freaking weakness in this case. I hate violence, but you must protect yourself. Some, a percent of neo-nazis can be reached through reason & logic, compassion & appeals to their humanity. It's just a matter of overriding the nazi programming they have been brainwashed into believing.

Seems ok in NE Bulgaria but I seen lot nazi graffiti and shit in Sofia. They treat me different, too. Here they find out I'm English it's like, 'Oh yeah, super, Manchester United'. In Sofia they just sneer at me. That's cities though, init. I hate cities. Breeding grounds for fascism.

I know of a latino skin here that wears a Skrewdriver t-shirt. When I asked him about it he said that he looked into Skrewdriver and they weren't always racist. He said he saw the lead singer from Oxblood wearing a Skrewdriver t-shirt. I for one could never listen to them for it doesn't change the fact that they turned racist. Isn't the lead singer of Skewdriver dead anyway. I have an album by the band the Young and Useless and they have a song about that.

As for The 4Skins. I just like the older stuff. The main songs they did. Hate me for it if ya want but oh well.

Last Resort was OK to me but I never paid much attention to the lyrics.

    No albums from Argy Bargy

and one from Comdemed 84 but I haven't listened to it in a really long time.

    LOL what a great argument

Hitler wasn't always a racist, is it ok to wear a tshirt with his face ?

Swastika once stood for something else than nazism, maybe it's also ok to wear one...

I could throw up countless of similar examples..

American Oi bands are dumb. But i would still want to see proof before believing that.
Anyway, it's not because someone is doing it that he should do the same...

Yes, Ian Stuart is dead since a long time. Car accident.

Most of the antifascist skins worship early 4skins stuff so you shouldnt be ashamed to like their older stuff. I was never a fan except for a very few songs... I think they are overrated

Re: racism in the punk scene

Personally, I think racism in the punk scene is the same as racism in general: complete fucking bullshit. Why build those walls? I've never understood it and i never will.

Really though, punk music and the punk scene is used to voice opinions and allow people who share those opinions to come together. Sometimes they're extreme opinions, and these are gonna clash.
Even though two "punks" might meet, one may be a part of ANTIFA and the other a part of Blood & Honor. (Its just too bad the latter one exists haha! :D )

And sorry to hear that rude comment was said to you!
