Thanks for the kind words Mar. I picked the art work with Peace, Jobs and Freedom by Cristy C. Road because everyday people can relate to it . I used to be a community organizer and in my opinion the art work is very powerful and has a meaning. As for jobs- I love my what i do. I'm a Lifeguard -( I have saved lives) + Swim Instructor (teach over 100 college students last year, kids - I cant even count) + Junior Lifeguard Instructor + Aqua Fit Coach etc.. I have 3 part time jobs & I love it - I work everyday and also organize small festival, put on benefit shows, play in a band, attend protest when I have time etc. I am not anti work. I am for jobs that helps people and that does not exploit people. Many of my friends are union organizers, radical school teachers, activist lawyers, works at organic foods, health food store, bicycle shop, or have their own business etc.
The art work has to do a lot with the event. And IWW (Industrial Workers of the World) and Occupy General Strike Preparation Committe will be doing a workshop and it totally relates to it. If you are anti job that's fine - not everyone likes what they do or don't like to work at all. I used to hate all jobs but I changed after i found out what I have passion for.

And I dig the art work on the flyer :)

From- Jang Lee ( Anarcho Cafe organizer & Punk Rocker for life )

Second Jang and Mar, Jobs are the point. It seems to lack the initial understanding of anarcho-syndicalism/ communism whilst talking about being anti-work. Maybe not jobs as we know it in a capitalized society, but the first step to worker ran directly democratic workplaces is working class organization. I also love my job. I work for a vegan/vegetarian small business cafe who try to be as environmentally friendly as the health department allows them to be. When I work there I almost feel like I'm doing activism by keeping that company running. My bosses form relationships with the workers, be it they do make more than us, but they're still great people, in a diverse workplace, where enjoying your job is a close second to doing a professional job.

It's not that I don't like to work or whatever, its because a call for jobs has absolutely nothing to do with anarchism. I mean even the IWW states:

This is a complete over-simplification butcher, there are factories, as we both know, that are owned by the workers themselves...the workers are not exploiting themselves, the key word being exploit. Yes work itself is an exploitation of ones energy and deteriorates the human body...I feel you are splitting hairs here again.

So you are telling me with a straight face that 100 years of CNT calling for more jobs for it's members has nothing to do with anarchism....?!!

No, saying all work is exploitative is though, If I plant crops, and toil from sun up till sun down in order to have a successful yield so that I may barter some of my excess for other necessities with my neighbors is that work exploitative? In the complete absence of Capital there would still be an overwhelming amount of work to be done in order to maintain an anarchist collective, and I can guarantee you there would be those within our own community refusing to work even then. So the Argentinian anarchist run factories should just quit and return them to the Caciques because they are still being exploited by Capital? No... you fight one battle at a time and don't get too damn romantic with what is vs. what should be.

    merde!
how nice, some nice flyer in the known occupied boy scout-style, promoting the next animallib-vegan-occupy trade fair - oh, the whole mess went anarchist now (after last years percent juggling and leaderless loitering and dancing in front of the TV-cameras it's now time to drag Rico Magon around, drop an few more names and refer nice about work and job hopping, not to mention the comfortable little niches in the service sector - come on jesses crust, no matter if your boss sends you roses for birthday...
    BUT:
something about abolishing capitalism or - hu - the state?
nil return - what a circus, especially with this thin skin of people involved... enlightment, eh?!

sorry mr. punkmar sir, what the CNT ever did is no proof for nothing, they really messed up some important things, including a revolution (CNT-ministers in the valencia gov, Barcelona may 1937, Aragon august 1937 ect., ff), collectivism in agriculture is nice but out of a little personal experience i guess not enough, and especially not as long capitalism is demanding surplus value, market maturity and competitive capacity, workers self-management or not - and as far as i know the situation in the argentinian workshops is far from idyllic and the conflicting positions kinda constant motivation to move on towards the abolition of the wage system and out of the goddamne niche-existence.
    muchos importante:
it isn't one battle at a time, it's class war, constantly and omnipresent - and peace & jobs & lifestylers management won't help that, especially not if they water down anarchism to a fancy bamboozlement on sale so pathetically.
    and btw:
fine, so the morning bus to the piss factory will be not that overcrowded anymore, guess they are alright with me - at least as long they don't try to make a living in the special interest book trade...
and finally, at least i appreciate the sarcasm of mr. comrade danger and commissar "hairsplitter" butcher - in my eyes this is punk and anarchism in, people who keep their eyes open and see through the filters of self-involvement, but
really sounds quite a bit odd here?
    VIVA LA F.A.I.!

With spoken word and music, writer and performer Rubén Martínez, joined by playwright and activist Raquel Gutiérrez and singer-songwriter Joe Garcia, will present the deep roots of radical Los Angeles through the story of the legendary anarchist figure Ricardo Flores Magón, who spent more than a decade here just before and during the Mexican Revolution. Nearly a hundred years before Occupy L.A.’s Solidarity Park, Flores Magón and his cohort founded a commune in Edendale with equitable gender roles and an attempt at sustainable living. For enacting his radical principles, Flores Magón was jailed and ultimately died in federal prison, but his influence lived on across the decades in bohemian cafes and in the living rooms of activists from Echo Park to Watts.

Speaker - Keith McHenry co-founder of Food not Bombs.
Food Not Bombs is one of the fastest growing revolutionary movements and is gaining momentum throughout the world. There are hundreds of autonomous chapters sharing free vegetarian food with hungry people and protesting war and poverty. Food Not Bombs is not a charity. This energetic grassroots movement is active throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. Food Not Bombs is organizing for peace and an end to the occupations of Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine. For nearly 30 years the movement has worked to end hunger and has supported actions to stop the globalization of the economy, restrictions to the movements of people, end exploitation and the destruction of the earth.

Nicoal Sheen graduated from CSU Long Beach with her B.A. in Comparative Political Science and specializes in sociopolitical revolution. As both an academic and activist, she recognizes all oppression as interlocking mechanisms used to silence other beings considered "less than" and fights to end these systemic inequalities. Nicoal is a militant voice for animals out on the streets and will continue to speak for the silenced until total liberation is achieved for our non-human brothers and sisters.

Workshop - Security Culture 101 with Jordan and Shannen
Shannen Maas is a radical activist with the goal to educate other activists about ways to keep their own activist communities safe, secure and
effective. Shannen has spoken on various aspects of radical politics and social movements at many political and social events and conferences. Jordan Ezell is an anarchist who works with the Anarcho Treehouse Collective to distribute free radical literature and organize benefits for activists and political prisoners. He strives for total liberation of humans, animals, and the earth.

Free books front of the library
The Miracle is a Los Angeles/Oakland based bookmobile, which activates redistribution of used literature. The bookmobile had its rocky beginnings in 2004 born in an volvo in Watts while Irina attended art school. During a hiatus, there was a feminist revival of sorts at theRedcat, where Irina wrote her phone number in Besser’s lavender-covered gay porn entitled I
Want It All. The Miracle was born and the two began to collect and steal the items necessary tomake the miracle a reality! The Miracle is a Los Angeles/Oakland-based bookmobile project that activates the redistribution of books, while addressing personal capacity. We believe that we can fulfill the same duties that public libraries bookmobiles do - but on a different level. Instead of loaning the book, The Miracle gives it away, and the action is made visible when the redistributed book continues to move amongst new hands, long after it has sat in the bookmobile. All books are donated to us; we take them on the road and then give them out. In turn, nothing is asked of those who next receive the book. The Miracle encourages folks to continue passing the book along, but we do not check to see if this happens.

    Table set up by -
Action for Animals, RAC (Revolutionary Autonomous
Communities), North American Animal Liberation Press Office,
Punk Tree Distro, Hungry Monkey Zine, South-Central Farms,
Food Not Bombs, (IWW) Industrial Workers of the World, El
Hormiguero Pacoima, Cop Watch, Workers Solidarity Alliance,
Mass Media Records , PM Press and more..

Should we just all quit our jobs and stop saving people at Pools and at the beach?
Also can you tell me what you do in your community?

Si Viva la FAI y la CNT, if you want to lecture me about what the CNT did or didn't do for anarchism and the revolution then you will permit me to correct you, surely you know that those ministers that sided with the state went on to split away from the main body of the CNT and morphed into the garbage known today as the CGT. Maybe you can school me as well on revolutionary action and history because we don't understand any of that in Mexico either, we are just ignorant campesinos and "lifestylers" :lmao:

Nothing odd about it, this is a forum where all are welcome to have their voices heard without having to endure edicts from those who deem themselves "more anarchist than thou", that is just horseshit. Also the level of revolutionary presence in this anarcho cafe is well documented, sitting at your computer in Australia and France or Germany and trying to convince us and those around this forum how full of shit we are is also horseshit. Ricardo Magon and his brother lived and thrived and fought in this city, organizing the radically militant Tijuana Anarchist Collective in 1908, a tradition that has lived on since and is once again thriving. Why on earth should we talk about Magon in a city full of lifelong Magonistas... :o

Salud a los que luchan, pero no a los que hablan pura mierda compañeros...

darn thing again, ey punkmar: personal involvement, some dangling after some absurd personal hobbyism and this daaamneddamneddamned deficit on arguments... let's get all personal again...
the only one making judgements about people because of the place they live were you?
maybe you should have read what Mdlle. Minh has posted, but...
guess the "thin skin" remark was quite a bullseye, o wonderous radio hanoi!
strolling around in the worldwide action news i honestly think we deserve your overseas wisdom about activism and revolutionary history, peaceful barricades and other romantic aspects of whatevers are still a mystery to me, poor me-

so the worlds strongest & at least still a bit "anarchist" trade union is garbage - CGT since 1979 and the successful CNT-claims on the trademark at state-official legal courts - and who was it again condemning the participation at workers council elections as "reformist", thus finally cleaving one organisation in two?
Montseny and Olivier - two of four CNT-ministers of the Caballero government and 1937 the most prominent brake(wo)men giving out the (one-battle-at-a-time?) "victory before revolution" paroles - aren't they still featured by the "true" and infallible CNT as showcase personalities, still enjoying a much better documentation than an "anarcho-cafe organizer" who has to ask how capitalism works in her little self-realisation niche - while calling out for more jobs she wouldn't work in because she lacks the passion...
oh, dear consequence and lifeloooong DIYed-credibility!
at least i enjoyed two ad-free posts...

maybe skipping the "lifelong whatever" will help further - it gets a bit inflationary in these times of the occu-pie-fake package with lotsa co-founders, experienced neighborhood activists, Magonistas popping up everywhere - and what about a return to a healthy non-sectarian diet, or some vacation with enough leisure to try to remember what anarchism is about - so noone has to be lectured by us overseas keyboard warriors, daring to critisize lifestylers biz and middleclass fake flagging on an whatevers fest:
why would Ricardo Flores Magon sell vegan cooking receips or the little girls nightmare about the animal experimentation gulag the average Cinderella-of-the-Concern never saw in vitro?
and i bet: you are all far more campesinos than me - at least Mexico isn't that far... or the worldwide revol-, refor - darn thing, what was it?
anyhow, what about: peace and onions?
see you better... oder gute besserung!

I said it... garbage, CGT anarchist ? Estas pero si bien pendejo, in bed with the State and Corporations and fellow yellow Trade Unions like UGT and CCOO. Seriously get the fuck out of here with your lectures on "middle class lifestylers" I've been poor my entire life and will die poor because I place absolutely no value on possessions never have and at this advanced age never will. I've done serious penitentiary time for my activism and managed to keep my mouth shut for over eight years while suffering for it, I like to think I'm a pretty decent judge of character and Jang is a great compañero that I would never think of belittling just because 100% of our opinions don't meet eye to eye. You on the other hand want to defend the CGT as anarchist while spouting off about lifestylers? :lmao:

Who the fuck are you talking shit about? Jang is male and the singer for the well respected Resist and Exist, see you don't know what the fuck you're talking shit about, just spouting out diarrhea of the mouth which is becoming much too redundant when it comes from the same circle of people over and over. To me anyway it smells and tastes like a case of full on Caucasian Eurocentricity......no thanks.

    Punkmar-
Sure its labour but it's not waged labour ('jobs'/'work'). In an anarchist society I could spend 50 hours a week building houses or being a lifeguard but I still would not have a job.

How does a desire to abolish wage labour (work/jobs) mean
    ?

    Oceanyoga-
    Surplus value?
Cos they're paid less then their work is worth?
Cos if they can't work for whatever reason (illness, age, injured at work, boredom) they probably can't afford to pay rent?
Cos they might need to work more than they would like, maybe work 6 days or something, just so they can afford good food, housing?

    These are two different things.

I don't see why that's relevant. So, no.

I hope the festival goes well.

Butcher: because under the auspices of some of the arguments above they are still operating under capital and thus not anarchist, no matter if they have achieved a modicum of Anarco Syndicalist success, and advanced the collectives interests so that other factories can begin to operate in the same worker collective run operations and spread out quite impressively so far. Of course we want to abolish wage labor and capital, but in the meantime while we fight for these things we also fight to organize labor under anarchism in the present capitalist system and don't live in a utopian fantasy world where if you aren't some sort of fuck all primitivist, crimethinc, or individualist drop out organizing an immediate armed revolution, then you're "middle class" bourgeoisie. A war is fought and won in battles, including class war. Here in the U.S. there have been some moves to mirror the Argentinian's in Chicago and Los Angeles, and after 120 years of state sponsored anarco-paranoia we welcome these small victories without forgetting the over all picture.

and finally this is pretty clear....

I'm not advocating 'dropping out' at all, actually the exact opposite; that one can't 'drop out', that self-managed collectives are still held hostage by the whims of the market, that capitalism needs to be abolished.
    If
Why would we promote anarchism with the phrase 'peace jobs freedom'?
This is different from asking things such as: 'is fighting against retrenchment worthwhile?'; 'do we support workers' collectives?'; 'are good jobs better than bad ones?'
