    Are you sure they are the first? I seem to recall Mexico having a limit for years and aggressively pursuing Japanese ships in international waters....

    They're probably just the first to limit large scale commercial fishing. A country like Mexico probably doesn't rape the water as badly as other highly industrialized nations. Glad to hear Mexico was standing up to the Japanese ships though.

    It's not that Mexico is among the "1st world" industrialized nations so much as it defends itself from the rape of those nations, and fishing it's waters was a favorite passtime of many of those nations, what I'm saying is it sounds like the US is tooting it's own horn, much too little much too late.

    I agree.
    Probably doing this due to the oil spills and killing of everything in the ocean last year. Optimistically I guess its better now than never.....
