I always felt a little too self conscious a about the history of white people ripping off the music of black people and making more money off of it to get into white people rapping.
Some would say they don't Rage Against The Money. But it could also be said that they spread subversive ideologies more widely tho. As for my view on their music I will say "No comment."
I don't think people realise how racist this opinion is. It follows that "whites" should only play White music and "blacks" should only play Black music. It's that bizarre preemptively politically correct that says it can't be racist to afford one race a privilege as long as you consider them downtrodden.

Liked them in my young polliwog days, nowadays I find them quite snooze-inducing. Always felt Corporate Avenger was much better in terms of political rap-metal, shame they didn't last long. But, in general, I support bands w a positive political message, and tbqh, I like how popular RATM still is to this day.
I love Rage Against the Machine, I was into alternative metal sorta stuff before punk and Rage Against the Machine were one of the first bands I got into. When I saw them live at Finsbury Park and they covered White Riot it was amazing.
He's not exactly easy to listen to, reading his stuff is a bit easier. he also has a tendency to go hard out leninist fairly regularly, but his stuff on anti-semitism is ace, as is his book on totalitarianism. Oh and when he spoke to OWS he warned about recuperation by comparing liberals to light beer and decaf coffee, 'beware decaffeinated protest!' or something along those lines. Hasn't some of Mr JP's fanboy-dom rubbed off on you yet? oh, and i put that vid up purely for teh lulz.
The man is quite the wackiest serious radical writer I think I've yet encountered, but frightfully good. I must confess I'm yet to sit down and try to properly penetrate his work, but I have read the occasional bit or piece Mr P has recommended. Oh, and watching him a bit on YouTube, which is just a foolish thing to do.

Firstly, the article is from 2008. Secondly, it was a media beat up. The whole 'anarchist'/illuminati nutter thing stems from an interview in the May 2008 issue of 'Blender' magazine (sorry i can't find it online but a section is here, for which she replies here. So the 'its a conspiraciez!' stuff seems like BS. As for The Guardian's claims that "The singer considers herself an anarchist", I don't know; but I'd hazard a guess and say it also comes from that interview: In short, lulz.
