What the hell, Sham 69 are not racists neither nazis, i have a live DVD where you can hear the singer say Fuck racism and fuck nazis..... And yes Phil is right, they were one of the main bands to play Rock against racism gigs

Sham is one of the few Oi! bands I enjoy listening to. It'd be a shame if they somehow changed against their old ideals. Maybe it's as somebody else mentioned, a whole different line up. DZA, can you explain why their nazi's? Like What happened at the show? I'm curious.

they were saying right wing shit between songs like "true british whites are becoming a minority" I can't remember specifics cuz I was pretty drunk but I just remember not being very impressed with what they were saying and got in a bit of an argument with the singer at one point, something along the lines of me shouting anarchy and the singer saying "if that's the case then all property is theft so give me your wallet" then he was like "this kid's the future! we're fucked". I'll speak to my mates and see if they remember any better.
There were loadsa racist remarks from them throughout the night and when they went off at the end of their set the audience (mainly nazi skinheads) were all shouting "seig heil" (or whatever it is) and doing the nazi salute before they came out and did an encore.

wow thats crazy... im surprised they didnt say anything to the neo nazi in the audience...

Anyway sham 69 are not genious in politics, they are anti racist but they suck at politics.... On a live DVD i saw them saying communism equal nazism, communism made millions of death and blah blah blah... so i think they are apolitical.... i have nothing against opposing to authoritarian communism, but it is important to make the difference between libertarian and authoritarian communism.... Just saying "fuck communism" like they did is very ambiguous

You guys forgets to mention the nice UK of bands like Angelic Upstarts and Blaggers. They are also perfect! I'm not saying even of more about their political positions to the socialist working class.

First off, on Sham 69's website there's a list of corporate sponsors...one of which is Universal. No shit. I guess it's not just Toyota cashing in on the punk game.

Their singer isn't Jimmy Pursey anymore, which makes sense. Some dude named Tim V sings. Looks like they reformed the band in 2006 to cash in after their song was used for the World Cup and hit the UK top 40.

    Sham indeed.

90% of the notorious Oi! bands all signed with majors.... they are not and have never been anarchists

i have not verified but i am sure that bands like Cock Sparrer, Cockney Rejects, Angelic Upstarts, The Adicts, 4 skins, etc... Have all signed with majors

Skinhead/oi scene was never meant to be underground, even the roots of the scene are mainstream (bands like Madness, trojan records, toots and the maytals, the specials, bad manners, the slackers, etc...)

So Universal is a record label too? Haha I was sitting here thinking "Are they making 'Oi!: The Ride' at Universal Studios?". I thought it was just a movie production company. I mean, Sham weren't really "Oi!" I guess, considering they were around before the Oi! thing took off. But they did influence it alot.

Either way, kinda interesting how Jimmy left the band right about the time they started blowing up. Could be nothing, but it's nice to think maybe he still has ethics.

    Here's to hoping! :beers:

Hmmm... I don't know what to say. Such reasoning as similar as with The Exploited, that they've are nazis / racists or not. But I don't give a shit to about Sham 69. I've never really been fan of their сreativity. Although their song "If the Kids Are United" is good.

What about Nothing Good from the former U.S.S.R. There is also cool ass antifa hip hop like Moscow Death Squad, and hXc bands like WHAT WE FEEL. Pretty much anything coming out the Russian Antifa Music Scene is good cuz they live and die by their beliefs over there cuz of all the Fascist Scum Boneheads there. My hats off to them all fighting fascism there esp. since it appears the govt. over there is sponsoring that bullshit or at least turning a blind eye to it.

do you like also the los fastidios?
I think they're a bit ambiguous,on a cover of their CD ther is the anarchist flag (red and Black)..but in theyr songs they speak of red star etc..
I hope they are not standing for russian authoritarian communism because it has been a big damage for the autonomous libertarian of first half of 900
