I smoke too much, probably. It's unhealthy, annoys people, whatever. I could stop, just take a bit of will power, but you know, it's difficult. People discriminate against me all the time because of my problem, can't go on a bus, in restaurants, non-smoker in job applications, etc. All legal. Probably rightly so, it shouldn't be encouraged, should it.

Ok, back to the topic:

First of all, I think it's a great idea to make this threat, since it's a topic that a lot of people in here feels strongly about. I'll write some more about my outlook and experience with different forms of feminism/antisexism later on. I know that I'm a white, heterosexual guy, and that puts me pretty much in top of the partriachic pyramid, but I'm also an anarchist, wich meens to me that I'm responsible for educating myself on topics like this, and be aware of my actions.

Second of all, I would like to comment on the "body size" debate.

I dont think that anybody glorifies obesity. The reason why most feminists (both men and women) takes a critical stance towards the idea of a "normal" bodysize, is because there is no such thing! All genders come in different sizes and shapes. But the fashion industri, the medias and a really big part of the music industri as well, makes an insane amount of money by selling the idea of a "perfect" body. This leads to more and more consumerism, because all genders are trying to fit into this "ideal bodyshape". Also, it leads to a lot of other social problems, such as eating disorders, discrimination and in worst case suicide. If you are against repression, you should definitly also be against a system of ideas, that pushes human beings towards this kind of self-mutilation.

It's wrong to blame people suffering from obesity and overweight for the lack of food resources. What extra they consume is simply such a small amound, compared to how much food we waste in the meat and dairy-industry, throw out in the trash or simply destroy to keep the prices on such a high level. If you should blame someone or something, blame the big companies who offers bigger and bigger boxes of candy, chips, meat and so on. Blame the PR industri for posting more adds for Mc Donalds than for carrots. Blame this whole rotten system for making people unhappy, alone and miserable, left with no other choice than to eat away the pain. But never, never blame the victims!

I used to be "fat" when I was a teenager. I know how it feels.

 

You make very good point, obesity is growing problem in Western World, and the blame really lies with the media and companies like Mc Burgertrough.

Ivanovich; Fat people aren't like Nazis, or racists. You are discriminating against people because of their body type. Anti-fat bias is just as bad as Racism, Sexism, or Homophobia. It is ignorance and all prejudice most be eliminated. You should be sorry for some fat people; they have an addiction and probaly want to lose weight but can't stop. How much somebody eats does not effect how someone thinks or feels. Don't be a bigot.

Anyway, you don't need to be a rampant consumer to be fat. I know people who dumpster-dive, table-hop and steal nearly every morsel of food that passes their lips, and are overweight. The stuff that's bad for them (and that really contributes to their weight) is mostly crap that they steal from large stores (like chocolates, ice cream, frozen snacks), so how is their enhanced consumption harming others?
