meh i give me family and good friends gifts just for the hell of it. nothin wrong with that...it just so happens everyone else is giving and getting gifts around the same time. go figure.

christmas itself is just a sham in my opinion...jesus wasn't even born in december, not that i really give a smooth fart when he was born. it just sucks that it takes consumerism and religious overtones to make people be "nice" toward one another, specifically toward friends and family. shouldn't love and respect be a year-round attitude?

other than that, it's the only time of year i can drink in front of my parents without them having a shitfit

I dunno getting CD's and band merch from my parents for Christmas is pretty nice haha...obviously that doesn't negate all the consumerist bullshit going on at the stores and such though

Don't forget that fun Hallmark Holiday called Valentine's Day. But, we can tear that one apart when it gets closer to it.

With my family, the only reason we really celebrate Christmas is to appease my Dad's side of the family they're all members of KMB (Kitchener Menonite Bretherin. Ultra-fundamentalist, right-wing christians. Fun stuff. Actually, most of the extended family on that side won't talk to me, because my Dad left their church). My little corner of the family is pretty far removed from the consumerist aspect of the "holiday", so each year the gifts usually consist of things that people actually need, or find useful.

I don't normally buy xmas gifts, but I have a kid now. I'm looking forward to seeing him clumsily tearing the wrapping paper, as well as ditching the actual present and running away to play with said wrapping paper. I'll let him make his own decision on the holiday when he gets older. For now, Santa exists.

would you if you would have to lie the whole long winternight naked in a crip, constantly endangered to be eaten either by the ox or the ass - or waiting that some orthodox smartass gets the idea to call for a hammer and nails, because he was reading it somewhere?

    "peace on earth" this year:
both grandmothers (arch catholic/orthodox jewish) are approaching for "the family feast", dragging the full arsenal of their religious madness with them - thank punk we have already a whole bunch of irish rovers as guests/excuse and despite the cuteness of the young girls fooling around at christ-mess eve i am really fed up with all this disgusting consumers overkill, we are planning some feast with homeless people instead, if we get a room for the project.

Merry Christmas everyone! May American consumerism, and religious rhetoric always hold a place close to your heart <3

But in all sincerity, everyone have have a great day, today and every other day.

I wouldn't be on this site right now if it weren't for the love and compassion I feel for all of you, and the majority of the world's population. This post is because I know that it feels good to know you're loved, and It makes me sad that there are people who don't know that feeling, even if there are people thousands of miles away devoting their lives for that very reason.

    :peace: <3 :anarchism:

I agree with other people who have stated it's fucked that like, your supposed to be all charotable and shit just becauise it's christmas, then on dec. 26, people go back to their arrogant ways. It's a fucked up world.

that being said, everyone be safe, fill up on good food, and do something nice for someone else any chance you get.

    cheers :ecouteurs: :ecouteurs: :ecouteurs: :ecouteurs:

Totally agree with what's allready been said, however, it's just a nice set date for family get togethers. All of my family is atheist, and we don't buy presents (we do that with Sinterklaas, and it are just small presents, accompanied with a self-written poem), and there's plenty of good food to eat with all of the family. There is no mention of the religion or any attention to the extremely materialistic side of it in my family, so I don't see a problem :p

written on day 1 in the after(the battle)life:
seems like we don't have grannys', or they have at least no blacksheepsofthefamily anymore - D-I-V-O-R-C-E.
so maybe we have now to celebrate something, I guess it would be rude and somehow it's sad, but was necessary too.

    no matter whatever,
    HAPPY X-MASS EVERYBODY!
and especially JesusCrust for this great xmass post <3 <3 <3 !

Well... It will soon be Christmas at all everybody, but in Russia and Siberia to x-mas celebrated at the 7th of January and that's so sucks!! Because the Orthodox Christmas in Russia and that fucking shit! Although Russia has a lot of atheists and many ignore it, 'cos at Orthodox Christmas haven't Santa claus and nobody to give gifts. People just gather near the dining table and drink wine. And that's all! Many people just don't care about Orthodox Christmas in here. They need just got drunk and that's all! But if talk about Santa claus (Grandfather Frost called to Russia and other Orthodox countries) and gifts then that have has only at New Year. But Grandfather Frost in Russia and Siberia always drunk in comes at home by kids, hahaha.
