i've always really liked his pseudonym. and i've been meaning to look into his books. but darnit if that liking little boys thing doesn't bother me.

 

His pseudonym means "wise man" and is a title in Sufism, one of the branches of Islam, the Bey pretends to be a confessing sufi, seeking the mystical unity with Allah. "Sacred" pederasty is claimed by some writers to be part of the Sufi tradition - I don't know enough about it, but Peter Lamborn Wilson (the Bey) advocates pedophilia, it's my favorite butchers link, but the writer there gives the magazines which feature the Beys gruesome side.

By chance I found another cheesy aspect, the Bey wrote about Robert Anton Wilson ("Illuminatus"), connecting Anarchism with the weird NWO-conspiracy bullshit, I was reading "Illuminatus" in the early 80's when it was nothing more than post-hippie-entertainment, but in the time of "global/(pathetic) parasite" and lots of halfwits looking for illumination? The Bey doesn't seem to think twice about it...

about his political writings i almost completely agree with murray bookchins "social anarchism vs...." - since the early nineties too many attention-hungry sidekicks tried to jump the anarcho-train and achieved nothing than creating their pathetic little sects and cults amongt the middle class hipsters looking for a weekend entertainment. if you try to relate all these temporary somethings with at least a little bit of real life activism and the resulting experience from it - it's nothing more than entertaining bullshit covered in a fireworks of sheer rhetorics and hip meta-swampthinx, drowning out the seriousness of political struggle and ending up in bored apathy.

 

I understand from what I looked at on online that the guy wrote shit for NAMBLA, some weird zine they had or some shit. Flowery boy lover poetry like some of the stuff/shit in T.A.Z. I think that is funny that in Europe NAMBLA is kinda considered part of the wider Queer LGBT Liberation Movement cuz in the States the movement is quick to dis them here. I like Art & all but you're right his stuff seems to cater to bored artist hipster types who are looking for a quick thrill. Who think that it is cool to talk radical politics with the Upper Crusties who are their art patrons.
