Awe. I don't usually care much for celebrities and what not but that makes me sad, I really loved the XRay spex. Also I feel like I have more sympathy because she died of something legitimate, not drugs or alcohol. Bye Poly!
Aw damn This was unexpected... I just hope she wasn't in that much pain at the time of her death and that she died sorrounded by her loved ones...
X-Ray Spex were - and still are - one of my favourite bands. They were one of the first punk bands I really got into. This was one of the worst pieces of news to wake up too! I wish it wasn't true, but it is. I just hope she's in a better place (wherever that may be).
bit late to this thread, but I'm not ashamed to say I shed a tear or three for Poly I'm old enough to remember X Ray Spex first time round, and it really mattered to have strong non-caucasian women speaking their minds not to mention the absolute individuality, especially when the media started turning punk into a fashion to be followed her lyrics were ridiculously fucking prescient, too glad to see so much support here!
Long live Xray spex....Poly styrene sounded like a bunch of nails being blended .....RIP No other female singer sounded quite like her . And nobody problably ever will. :] \m/
