They started in the mid 70's according to their own claim out of the gay movement and advocate sexual relations between male adults and minors and promote the abolition of age of consent laws criminalizing adult sexual involvement with children, finally the release of adult males jailed for abusing minors - too bad that Allen Ginsberg and Harry May defended their position:
Sexual freedom for all - support relations between generations - what a disgusting and dishonest bullshit!
At their prime they had around 1000 members according to an undercover cop around 1995, their story started with a police raid 1977 during which twenty-four men were arrested and indicted on over 100 felony counts of the statutory rape of boys aged eight to fifteen. County District Attorney Byrne found that the men used drugs and video games to lure the boys into a house, where they photographed them as they engaged in sexual activity. The men were members of a "sex ring", and said that the arrest was only "the tip of the iceberg."
The number of arrests sparked intense media coverage, and local newspapers published the photographs and personal information of the accused men. The Gay rights organisation "Boston-Boise Committee" formed up in response to these events and to protect the "rights of gay men" and promote "gay solidarity."
Later nambla's was founded, inspired by this gay rights organization, one of the founding members was gay historian Thorstad, NAMBLA, and its affiliated organization Zymurgy, Inc., was controlled by a Steering Committee managing nambla's publications:
nambla bulletin, edited by William Andriette- a quarterly sent to dues-paying members - in 1996 co-founder Thorstad stated that:
"The Bulletin is turning into a semi-pornographic jerk-off mag for pedophiles." Other members stated that the group only had a minority who were pedophiles, with the majority being pederasts.
gayme magazine, edited by William Andriette - mailed periodically to dues-paying members and sold at some bookstores. It was a periodical published by nambla during the 1990s that became involved in obscenity lawsuits.
topics - a series of booklets providing more consideration of issues related to "man-boy-love" still promoting the abuse. maybe a spin-off of this was "arrel's pages" a project through which literature about "man-boy-love" was sold.

In my eyes sexual relations between adults and children are a criminal abuse of physically and emotionally defenceless human beings who have the damned right to develop their sexuality with equals in age/stage of personal development and need to be protected at all costs from being "used" by adults suffering from serious personality disorders, almost all of the offenders were victims in their own childhood and repeat the vicious circle.
the worst part of pedophile abuse is the tendency to talk boys into an unequal sexual relation and keep that relation running by further emotional abuse, blackmailing and only in rare cases violence, the kids get caught and become substitue objects for the disability of the offenders to engage in equal relations.
Many pedophiles promote the abuse aggressively in public, nambla is only one example, in germany we had the "indianer commune"(indians commune) in nuernberg, taking in runaways and homeless street kids, promoting the "hospitality" of the group in newspapers and on public radio. peter schult in munich or hakim bey in the US also promote their pedophile habits in articles, poems and books, both claimed the right on "free sexuality" trying to cover the abuse with ecstatic/romantic lyrics about the "openess of boy-man-love".

abusing children and destroying their natural personality development before they even had the chance of a free choice is an unexcusable crime and i'm sure locking them up will not help the pederasts and pedophiles with their personal issues - but the kids rights to grow up unmolested and unhurt are a an absolute priority, there is no pardon.

but what i really find worth mentioning:

These include the presence of sexually arousing fantasies, behaviors or urges that involve some kind of sexual activity with a prepubescent child (age 13 or younger, though onset of puberty may vary) for six months or more, and that the subject has acted on these urges or suffers from distress as a result of having these feelings.
The criteria also indicate that the subject should be 16 or older and that the child or children they fantasize about are at least five years younger than them, though ongoing sexual relationships between a 12-13 year old and a late adolescent are advised to be excluded. A diagnosis is further specified by the sex of the children the person is attracted to, if the impulses or acts are limited to incest, and if the attraction is "exclusive" or "nonexclusive."
Many terms have been used to distinguish "true pedophiles" from non-pedophilic and non-exclusive offenders, or to distinguish among types of offenders on a continuum according to strength and exclusivity of pedophilic interest, and motivation for the offense. Exclusive pedophiles are sometimes referred to as "true pedophiles." They are attracted to prepubescent children, and prepubescent children only. i completely forgot about another aspect i stumpled over while researching:

pedophilia in ancient greece or todays afghanistan were/are expressions of a high social standing, the greeks covered the sexual abuse, including anal intercourse between males - which was seen as personally degrading for the passive partner - with the role of an adult mentor educating and protecting a minor to prepare him for his future adult life.
the bacca bazi - the dancing boys - in afghanistan are a status symbol for a wealthy and successful male able to keep the abused child as an entertaining pet as long as the boy is young and defenceless enough. growing up and getting too old means getting useless - and the boys are just abandoned and sometimes even murdered.

mind me wondering if abusing a defenceless living being has someting to do with the need of a troubled individual to re-assure himself and others that he's able to dominate - even against limits set by the society?

 

I think we need to split 'the pedophile' from NAMBLA, an organisation promoting pedophilia.

In the latter instance, burn away. In the former shit gets more complicated.

As Nike notes with reference to homosexuality and the nutzis (although by no means limited to them), mental illness is often tied up with social constructions of normality/deviance. As such, rather than essentialising behaviours in terms of an illness/disease/etc; we should look at how we can reach commonly held standards of appropriate behaviour, and how we can deal appropriately with those who break these standards. Thus, with respect to pedophilia, I saw a doco on programs that work with people who have sexual desires for children to ensure they do not act on these desires. This or something similar, i feel, is more appropriate then burning them at the stake.

 

Did that docu talk about simulated child porn as in CGI? I remember reading a discussion about it fueling vs keeping them at bay. What are they doing to keep them from acting on their urges?

 

I don't think prepubscent children can really give permission to pedophiles to have sex and therefore pedophiles are like rapists. Pedophiles use abuse and lies to molest children. I believe pedophiles are sex criminals like rapists.

 

nambla is by now kind of a underground ring still swapping kid-porn and if anybody sane and claiming an LGBT-connection still defends nambla or child abuse I would like to see the source - if one googles with LGBT "pedophiles" you find quite a number of articles and blogs condemning the abuse as the crime that it is.

they can't give permission, because their sexuality is still developing, so their activities and interests may resemble sexual interest or need, but they are kids growing up step by step to become sexual active young adulds around the end of their puberty - thats when their sexual interest becomes serious/ important and they start to follow their personal orientation.
to interfere with their development before it's finished means to interrupt it and confront them with something they can't cope with - and there is the aspect of being "used" too - how does it feel if you're still young and depending on care and protection - but get used like an object, hurt and abased - and in many cases of pederasty - emotionally blackmailed?
it's indescribably gruesome for adults to get abused or raped, but they have their development finished and after overcoming the trauma they can return to what they are if they work on it.
but what about a not fully developed kid personality traumatisized by abuse and maybe being raped? maybe it's the reason why many pederasts repeat what happend to them when they were young - they return to the trauma - and again it's the kids becoming victims.

but i agree on a reasonable position - nambla could be fought by all means necessary, but the offenders are still humans and products of their life circumstances, so the first priority is to keep them from causing further harm and protect the kids, locking the offenders up, or better keep them under close psychological surveilance and find out what's wrong with them - besides that, we still have to rip this fucking system and build up a healthier world to prevent people getting in trouble again and again.
