Although I was joking, my option was neither imprisonment nor death.
haha this topic makes me feel like the anarchist society is falling apart before it has even started,
It really is quite the dilemma.

It is the responsibility of those affected by the crime to administer a justice they see fit. There should be no group set of guidelines or correctional behaviour. The greater society/community has no responsibility to respond to an act of injustice they are not directly affected by. If the victim wishes to seek keep help to administer justice through plea to friends, family or the community, then it is their right to as it is every persons right to opt-in or out of any act of justice they don't see fit.

Allowing the state to administer the death penalty is allowing them to project an image that represents it's people's minds and beliefs - and seeing the individual has no say in execution of state-justice, the entire system is non-representative of the individual and therefor inappropriate.

You bring up Mumia, it was his gun that was forensically linked to the bullets in the officer's body. The question is, was it Mumia or his brother that fired the pistol that killed the officer. The crime scene was improperly handled and that alone should put him off death row. There are two witnesses that place him as the shooter and it was his weapon. As a reasonable person with that evidence in front of me I would have convicted him, however with the misconduct and doubt I would not want him to have the death penalty.

That is a relatively ambiguous case, however, would you execute Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer? There is overwhelming evidence and a confession. What does society gain from having him still breathing? Why should Dennis Rader, BTK, still exist? When I say that I am pro death penalty I reserve that for the worst of the worst.

Here is the most extreme example without breaking Godwin's law and bringing up Hitler/Stalin/Mao/Pol Pot, a rifle, and a time machine. Luis Garavito, who is known as La Bestia, the Beast. He confessed to torturing, raping, and murdering 138 boys, mostly street children. He is suspected of torturing, raping, and murdering over 300. Since Columbia does not have either a death sentence or a life sentence they are desperately trying to delay his impending release by trying to link him to more murders. He, ironically, has tried to start a political career by trying to help abused children. Would you shed a tear if someone put a .45ACP through his head? Why does he still exist?

That is the caliber of person that the death penalty exists for in my opinion.

some 30 years ago, we had a special case in germany: Marianne Bachmeier shot the wretch who had admitted to have raped and killd her seven-year-old daughter during the trial. six 9mm rounds from a beretta and less than ten feet distance. The cops were so surprised that they almost let her walk away. it was even live on TV, she was arrested and later got a three years sentence for murder because she had planned to kill him. she died 15 years later because of cancer.
klaus grabowski - her victim - was an previously convicted sex offender sentenced twice for abusing young girls. 1976 he had a castration while he was arrested and he entered two years later a hormonal treatment.
on may 5th 1980 he kidnappped the seven year old Anna Bachmeier, he kept her several hours in his home and finally strangled her. at court he admitted the murder but claimed that he never sexually molested her.

personally, i still don't know what to think about Marianne Bachmeiers self justice.

Really interesting to read all your stances concerning the death penalty (unrelated to the state) and then reading all your comments in other threads. I want to say hypocritical but I'll go with zealously dogmatic.

I am against the death penalty.
I believe no one deserves to die no matter how sick the crime.

    the other way round:
who's good enough to take the responsibility and decide about a life to take in the name of justice?

The way I find it, anarchism isn't about "punishment". It is, before all things, instructing the person on how to live in a community. IF, by any chance, the crime commiter is in fact, just a murderous psycopath (and psycopathy cannot be treated, contrary to popular belief, only "sedated"), the only "punishment" I see fit for him if being locked up for life, where he can no longer harm the society he lives in, or himself. Unless you force him into hermitage (sp.?).
It is not up to us, the people, to decide whether a man lives or dies. Everyone dies, get over it, but... We shouldn't be able of chosing when or how. I'll give you an example. There is a legend that speaks that, in the old Viking communities, after a murder is commited, a relative of the victim has the right to murder a relative of the murderer.
Soon after, there is no community left, because the cycle goes on, and on, and on. You see where I'm going here?

yes, it's part of our nature to die finally, the problem starts if a life is taken before it was time to go, leaving nothing but a loss.
and your fine (blood-)feud example clearly shows that murder was a problem even before civilisation began, because "revenge" is such an easy & strong motiv:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feud#Blood ... 2FVendetta
(Initially i thought the vikings were smart people, ending the problem by "blood money" a murderer has to pay to the relatives of the victim... i couldn't have been more wrong with that - they feuded until the 19.th century as a privilege of the nobility) :ecouteurs:

there are so many things wrong with the death penalty.... if a nazi kills innocent families, then he deserves the ultimate punishment, he deserves to live forever in solitude, do spend every waking moment knowing he will never be able to re-renter society, or to have any human intreation.. but you cant punish nazis for being nazis... thats removal of free speech, i tread a thin line by saying this so ill put his out there, nazis are the most ignorent, pigheaded fucks ever to walk this eath. but if you decide who is free to speak their opinions and who isnt. then YOU become the nazi...

hate speech is speech, saying "we should kill facists" and saying "we should kill muslims" is the same basic idea..
who decides what speech is free and what speech isnt? its opinion, a klansman does not consider himself a racist.

im in no way defending these people, but im just saying you shouldnt try to take away their rights. the thing people hate about facists is that they take away peoples rights

If you are here trying to defend hate speech as free speech then you are on the wrong forum, again I ask you to read the "who are we?" text and decide if you want to continue being part of this forum or if you'd be more comfortable somewhere else...

you dont seem to be getting this at all.... anarchy is freedom right? freedom doesnt discriminate against anyone does it? should speech be limited in your opinion? should people be cencored? becasue ive met christians who took offence to my anarchist beliefs, so if it were up to them.. i would be cencored.. if you ask mumark ghadaffi then his peoples speech should be cencored... im not defending nazis, im defendin their right to be nazis.

"we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equual, and are endowed by their creater with certain inalienable rights, among these are life, libery, and the pursuit of happiness"

killing someone for their beliefs (not their actions) would be taking away life and libery... you know whats sad? i wrote that out off my memory... the system tought me something in that grey box >.< fuck

You seem not to fucking be getting it, Anarchism isn't whatever you want it to be, study a little more and quit fucking quoting federalist propaganda at me. Bottom line this thread is about the death penalty and not whether or not Nazi's should have free speech. That topic is not up for debate on APN.

hahaha anarchism IS what you want it to be actually, you know all those different flags? thse represent different factions of anarchism, its one belief. after that, you can shape it however you want to.
however you seem to prefer a stict set of rules that you have to abide by to be an anarchist, which is very contradictory... and if you actually opened your mind a little bit you might realize the world doesnt have to only revolve around purely anarchist doccuments, i seem to study a little more then you my freind, the declaration of independance (where that quote was from) was actaully a statement of revolt against the monarchy and the dictaorship that England was imposing on the states...

you seem to be forgetting my original comment was in response to all the '"we should kill all the nazis and force them to shut up" that im quite honestly getting sick of, i mean they were horrible people yeah, but its spitting in the faces of those who lost their lives in the halocaust to run around likie "oh this is so nazi" truth is, not a single person here has experienced real nazis, me included, to think of what they did to families. im not the one that doesnt get it, its the dumb fuck who things people shouldnt be free to speak their minds, its the person that goes and says stupid things without thinking about the sugnifficance of them.

i understand my comment would seem rather unrelated, but im sick of everyone using that term so fucking lightly, and saying they should take away their rights..
