one of the local kid punks found this in the german wikipedia article, the english article doesn't mentions the right wing connection that explicit - so we want to ask if anybody knows something about it or has any sources? (might even save the kids soul...)

Scott Hull from Pig Destroyer played guitar for Anal Cunt for a while. I don't think he played on an album though.

lol i tried selling my bad brains shirt at the Buffalo Exchange. and i gave away my bad brains s/t CD. i was so pissed when i learned about their anti-gay bullshit considering the fact i could have, at one point, claimed them as a favorite band (when i was a young punk, mind you)....felt betrayed. but yeah fuck rastafarianism

On the Seth Putnam/AxCx note I remember hearing from someone who saw them live that right before the show Seth slapped his wife, who was at the side of the stage, across the face, and that she was just standing there crying for a while too...yeah, even without the Vaginal Jesus connection Seth Putnam's just an absolute piece of trash who deserves any harm the comes to him.

What about the Descendents and the Adolescents? They are kinda homophobic in some songs, but I don't think they mean it that way.

yes, i think too that he deserves some kinda echo for the shit he's spreading:
his ultra-right wing connections seem to be very serious, this german article mentions the title of the first AxCx 7'':
„88 Song E.P. 7“ - 88 for HH... and states that he also works with Mudoven, a friend i was talking with - he organized gigs for u.s.-bands in munich - told me, that even the munich youth authorities and the city council banned ol'seth completely within the city limits... because of his involvement with nazi bands.
    praise dropdead...

and about rastafari - don't forget that it's a "new" religion based on christian believes, i still get the shakes remembering black uhuru singing about the "sin" of free choice and abortion... no gods, no masters - no haile selassie!

there's another thread on the descendents: don't have the link right now but i'm sure it's easy to find. in summary, descendents are (maybe were?) homophobic...not sure about the adolescents; they do alot for protesting anti-gay marriage laws and are open supporters of equal LBGT rights, so i'm sure they have left any trace of homophobia in the past. i know milo from the descendents apologized for past homophobic remarks in a semi-recent interview. descendents are another band that dissapoints me greatly (once i became more sensitive to certain words...but before that they were one of my favorites as well)

Okay, as in previous threads, I haven't read every individual post so I apologize in advance if what I say has been covered.

In regards to Nazi bands.. well, frankly, fuck that shit! Listening to racist bands "for the music" is totally apathetic. However, I don't feel as though I need to agree with everything a band says in order for me to like the band. I see that people have been talking about Bad Brains, so I'll use them as an example. Now, they put their past homophobia and sexism down to immaturity, as for their religion.. Rastafari is no more or less sexist or homophobic than Christianity, Islam or most mainstream religions. No, it isn't right but, at the same time, I can't hate on everyone who believes the word of their holy book. I have a phrase I like to use whenever I am faced with a politically unsound issue: "don't be a dick about it" Sure, be anti religion, but don't be a dick about it, offer advice and speak your mind but don't assume that every member of a religion is a bad person and that everything they do and say is invalidated because they are religious. If you hate capitalism, fine, I can relate, but don't be a dick about it. Some people are capitalists and its their right. The only people that I can never compromise with is, of course, Nazis, because Nazis are being dicks about it. Their entire belief system is based around being a dick, so you can all go and be a dick about that. But, with everything else, just try not to be a dick about it.

Man that was fun, I think I'm going to write a guide to life book called "don't be a dick about it"

Oh and, in regards to Seth Putnam, I always saw the guy as just an IRL troll. I never knew about him hitting his wife or any of that shit but, based on his lyrics, I always assumed Anal Cunt were entirely satirical. I guess he was one of those guys who just hated everyone.

I haven't read the whole thread start to finish, but i think you can listen to bands without agreeing with them 100%. I mean, I listen to Bad Brains but I went to a LGBT pride festival yesterday and had one of the greatest times of my life. Personally, I think that if you're against it, you're against it and shouldn't support the band, but at the same time I can't fault anyone for listening to music they love. I was just at my friend's house a couple weeks ago and for a few hours all we did was sleep and listen to Bad Brains. Would we wanna fight homophobes? Yeah. But can you deny their music is talented? Not at all.

That was some of the most absurd rationalization I have ever read on here, maybe we should call this site whatever-punk, are you serious? Ok I'm sorry I guess I don't want to be a dick about it....get real.

So you are anarchists but are so against people practising anything that you disagree with that you won't listen to their music, even if their lyrics aren't promoting the elements of their belief system that you take offence to? What is that, authoritarian anarchy?

I'm no elitist, if I reject everything and everyone who has a different philosophy to me, I am alienating myself and my own beliefs. I know plenty of people who would love to be part of the anarchopunk movement were it not for everyone telling them what they should and shouldn't like. How can anyone expect to take a political movement seriously if its made up of people who close their eyes, put their fingers in their ears and go "la la la" every time someone disagrees with them?

In a debate, I will argue with Capitalists, I will try to show Christians that the Bible really isn't a good book to live your life by and I will try to show Socialists that "power to the people" really isn't power to the people. But I won't ignore everything they have to say, I will openly admit when they make good points, if a capitalist is in a band I like, I would still buy and listen to their music, I would still praise the work of a Christian homeless shelter.

Yeah, its me that needs to get real, the only way forward is to make people think that anarchy is based on a very narrow set of principles and they should disown everything and everyone that goes at all against said principles. That's the way to start a populist system, being so antagonistic that you make everyone hate your movement. But, yeah, I need to get real.
