Well if you feel that strongly about calling out Dan on this issue then go ahead, I'm not trying to stop you on that.
good luck getting an answer out of him on this one. :ecouteurs:

And I'm not accusing you of it, but just avoid continuing the flame war between APN and PE
like you said, there are Bands and members of bands on APN that collaborate with PE
and there are people on APN that enjoy the music PE puts out

In 2009, when PE was going through financial crisis, you said this Dan:

    Sauce: http://www.profaneexistence.org/dan/

and that's all I'm further contributing to this thread

"Saying Profane Existence doesn't makes money is easy. I don't believe you."
Especially since you already proved that you are a liar and a greedy fuck.

Seriously, i don't give a fuck if you believe me or not.... Anyway that's all you can come up with.

I'm still losing money with those websites.

Been paying the hosting fees alone for 7 websites during 5 years. That's thousands of dollars.
We are releasing 3 different compilations @ 1000 units each, not even counting the future volumes. That's over $4500 of investment.
A few days ago we just moved to a new host. Cost us a contract of $1000 for 3 years. (And that's only for ONE website)
Last year we were sued by vBulletin for breaking copyright. Cost us nearly $1000 to pay the license.
And i'm not even including our other servers for quebecunderground.net, pirate-punk.net, resistance.tk, anarcho-punk.net, etc...

That's nearly $10,000 total... if you think we made so much profit then you're a fucking idiot... That would be 3333 t-shirts sold during not even 1 year.... what a joke.

But PE has been around since 22 years, sold millions of items, and never made any profit even if they are the biggest crust label around ? YEAH RIGHT....

Bands are free to work with PE if they want. Unfortunatly we can't say that bands from PE are free to work with us and share their music for free if they want.

PE is done for non-profit ? What a fucking joke...

15$ is cheap. That's the price t-shirts are usually sold in internet shops and gigs... in shops it's even more expensive.... Anyway like i explained we only make around $3 "profit" per t-shirt so we can't afford to sell them for cheaper.
BTW, t-shirts from our shop are highest quality possible, nothing similar to the screenprinted t-shirts that cracks after a couple of months of wear...

It's not all about unity and harmony, guess I'm not the only one appreciative for bug-reporting or some reliable insight into issues making punk less than a threat. Part of being an adult is the ability to have serious discussions. squabbling is the fanboys and buizz-mens part.
Whatever happened to co-operation not competition? - Right, ask profane existence, but I guess you'll have to wait for answers...

I agree that serious discussion is important, but this one is fruitless, nothing can be achieved by either 'side' (when we are on the same side). Everyone's gotta eat, and no one is exactly EMI, it isn't capitalism when your just getting by. I completely disagree with Profane Existence not letting us share the albums by them for free but I sort of understand their reasons why, even thought there is a obvious solution.

The way I see it is like this; The way we get into bands is by seeing them live and buying an album cos we like it, and also as this is the 21st century, we get into bands through free downloads or watching videos online or whatever. Its beneficial for both sides to meet half way. I love physically holding an album in my hands, reading the stuff thats in it, admiring the artwork and all that good stuff that you can get from a download. We all have the same beliefs right?

So, why don't Profane Existence every now and then put up compilations of new bands and new songs on this site so we can download them for free? Then whenever anyone on here buy's an album we send them an email that we heard about it thought the free download. Is that a totally mental idea or productive idea from a serious discussion?
To quote a Profane Existence t-shirt i just saw, I can only see a better world built on the ashes of this one...

I live in europe, PE-stuff isn't really avaliable around here, the few distributors announce the zine here and then, the last one I got my hand's on must have been quite a number of years ago. So this discussion tells me about the issue, allowing me to see the arguments of both sides - or the lack of answers or arguments - so I can make up my mind, even here in europe.
I think it's still capitalism, even if you are just getting by - and from that fucking realistic point of view, everybody is a hostage of the economical system - the important question is: How far do you give in to that?
Demanding the removal of DL-links is just stupid - with the nets full of free PE-stuff and I tend to believe that your point about downloading first, then buying it - which is mine too here and there - is a quite common attitude and a good reason to give shits on copyrights and the buizness laws.
Why working capitalism, while capitalism isn't working for you - and I think especially PE already had more than one opportunity to learn the lesson...

I don't even remember posting that, fuck everclear.

Again though, prolonging this topic just gives the feud with PE more fuel for the fire. I say we ignore it, let bygones be bygones, and move on to more important topics.

I live in the UK and I only got stuff through distro peeps. Behind Enemy Lines - One nation under the fist of god. It came with this sick little book, I love that album and wish I could share it with everyone on here, you'd still have to buy the album to get the book, n it was only like 7quid or something n i think i got a MDC/Restarts spilt chucked in too, I forget now.

I would like to hear the mod's and all them lot thoughts on my idea to build a bridge of some kind. I can't see why it wouldnt work...

I dislike Profane Existence. I'm cheap. I don't like to buy music no matter what it's going to. It's no better then that "We Are the World" shit. Especially since it apparently makes a profit, and if they are so anti - capitalist then why the hell do they have a store that uses U.S. dollars and not bitcoin or some other alternative to U.S currency?
