Legendary anarcho-punk/crust band Antisect today announced their reform. From the official Antisect website:

Antisect are another in a long list of deceased 80's anarcho-punk bands to resurrect themselves (mostly recent being The Mob). Hopefully they will not follow in the footsteps of Steve Ignorant and start charging £25 per show!

Is this the classic UK band? If so, why they starting in the US?

I'm assuming it is and being very fucking happy. In Darkness is one of the most classic Anarcho albums! I guess some of the folks moved to the US.

Just like the new Amebix shit going on, this could be awesome or really bad... I'll still go see them if the come to the cities or Milwaukee, though. Amebix ruled it live, whether or not their new shit is going to be any good.

As someone said "this could be awesome or really bad" - well, the good news is that it's really awesome!!! Just saw them live at the Puntala festival in Finland last night and let's just say there shouldn't be many people disappointed with their upcoming gigs judging by this one. Puntala is a great totally DIY fest in the forest run completely by the punks themselves so it was great to see Antisect choosing something like that for their comeback - and they played an utterly raging set - a great mixture of stuff off "In Darkness", "Out From The Void" and the later period stuff that I guess would have ended up on their next LP. They didn't say much apart from the odd "thanks" but just blasted through a blistering 45 minutes of classics - "Tortured and Abused", "They", "The Buck Stops Here", "New Dark Ages", "Bedlam" etc etc - really good mix of newer and older stuff and the dual vocal attack worked really well too. Very impressive return basically. I saw them at one of their last gigs in 87 just after all their gear had got stolen which was probably a factor in their break-up and if anything last night was better!

Yikes. I am so excited for this. I hope they play when I am actually in the country. Also, let's not bash Crass for Steve Ignorant's awful excuse for Crass karaoke! Amebix came back and they are fucking brilliant, I have high hopes for Antisect!

I was at a gig in Camden the other day and saw a familiar face was doing the sound. It was a guy called Joe who is in a band called Flowers of Flesh and Blood. My old band played quiet a few shows with them a little while back - they're an awesome anarcho-punk act. Anyway, he's apparently playing drums for the reformed Anti-Sect. Great news to me! Will definitely get to a UK show. As an aside, Subhumans are playing the Underworld in about a week and Flowers are supporting. Any London folk should head down...

Well, I'm an old fan and let me say that I went to Finland and saw nothing to be ashamed of there. They were fucking superb. Older and later stuff. Tight, powerful and passionate. As "OiBoy" says, utterly raging. No question, they were the stand out band of the whole thing. Uk later on in the year apparently. Hats off to them for choosing Puntala as the starting point, also.

I've seen a lot of older bands play recently, both bands that have reformed, or have been playing for 20-30 years straight, and more often than not, it's been awesome. D.O.A., both the Canadian and UK Subhumans, and NoMeansNo were all incredible. The only reformed band that I've seen that was really awful was the Vibrators.
If I get a chance to check out the reformed Antisect, I'd take it.

who exactly is left to reform? I saw Amebix play and truthfully i thought they were kinda boring. it was cool to see them play but it was just so fucking boring. they mostly played their big hits and totally ignored the album that i thought was really good which was Monolith. Antisect all of their stuff was amazing so i doubt they wont suck as bad as Amebix

I've seen Antisect in 1985, in Hasselt, Belgium. I've some pictures of that night (B & W and coulours, so two sources).... But don't ask me to post it here (i've no scan)...

I don't really like the reformed Amebix last year ... The main problem was that I only would to hear the Spiderleg songs and I'm not sure they even played one song of that period...

    Uk Gigs confirmed.

    London - The Garage - Thursday December 15th, Liverpool - The Kazimier - Saturday December 17th, Bristol - The Fleece - Saturday January 14th - 2012

Heard some pretty impressive sounding reports from the Finland gig. Good mixture of In Darkness tracks and the later stuff. Too good an opportunity to miss, I say.
