    Re: Open letter from Anonymous

    Dear Greedy Motherfuckers SONY,

Congratulations! You are now receiving the attention of Anonymous. Your recent legal actions against fellow internet citizens, GeoHot and Graf_Chokolo have been deemed an unforgivable offense against free speech and internet freedom, primary sources of free lulz (and you know how we feel about lulz.)

You have abused the judicial system in an attempt to censor information about how your products work. You have victimized your own customers merely for possessing and sharing information, and continue to target those who seek this information. In doing so you have violated the privacy of thousands of innocent people who only sought the free distribution of information. Your suppression of this information is motivated by corporate greed and the desire for complete control over the actions of individuals who purchase and use your products, at least when those actions threaten to undermine the corrupt stranglehold you seek to maintain over copywrong, oops, "copyright".

Your corrupt business practices are indicative of a corporate philosophy that would deny consumers the right to use products they have paid for, and rightfully own, in the manner of their choosing. Perhaps you should alert your customers to the fact that they are apparently only renting your products? In light of this assault on both rights and free expression, Anonymous, the notoriously handsome rulers of the internet, would like to inform you that you have only been "renting" your web domains. Having trodden upon Anonymous' rights, you must now be trodden on.

If you disagree with the disciplinary actions against your private parts domains, then we trust you can also understand our motivations for these actions. You own your domains. You paid for them with your own money. Now Anonymous is attacking your private property because we disagree with your actions. And that seems, dare we say it, "wrong." Sound familiar?

Let Anonymous teach you a few important lessons that your mother forgot:
    1. Don't do it to someone else if you don't want it to be done to you.
    2. Information is free.
    3. We own this. Forever.

As for the "judges" and complicit legal entities who have enabled these cowards: You are no better than SONY itself in our eyes and remain guilty of undermining the well-being of the populace and subverting your judicial mandate.

    We are Anonymous.
    We are Legion.
    We do not Forgive.
    We do not Forget.
    Expect us.

    [video]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eryqClObdO8&feature=player_embedded[/video]

Greetings, Sony Customers And PS3 Users. We are Anonymous.

During the last few days, Anonymous has been targeting Sony for their outrageous treatment of not only PS3 users and jailbreakers, but also of the general public. Their propaganda regarding jailbreaking implies that it encourages piracy and thereby makes people lose their jobs, whereas jailbreaking actually just means you are making YOUR device do what it should do. Imagine if Microsoft forced you to use Internet Explorer instead of Firefox or Chrome. Imagine if they denied users from using any other web browser than their own. Many people would obviously be pissed... but then, why aren't you pissed at Sony?

The fact that their litigation demanded information on everyone who had viewed the material, was completely unacceptable. This is a threat not only to the gaming community, but to freedom of information in general. The fact that the privacy of individuals can be violated, simply for accessing information, and legal action can be taken for doing something with something you own, are steps far beyond the line. Anonymous decided it could not allow this to stand. If jailbreaking a phone for use of legal (unsigned) apps is found legal, why would this be any different for the Geohot case, seeing as Geohot explicitly states he does not support piracy?

Anonymous is not attacking the PSN at this time. Sony's official position is that the PSN is undergoing maintenance. We realize that targeting the PSN is not a good idea. We have therefore temporarily suspended our action, until a method is found that will not severely impact Sony customers.

Anonymous is on your side, standing up for your rights. We are not aiming to attack customers of Sony. This attack is aimed solely at Sony, and we will try our best to not affect the gamers, as this would defeat the purpose of our actions. If we did inconvenience users, please know that this was not our goal.
This operation is a response to Sony's attempt to deprive their customers of products they bought and therefore own, wholly and completely. Anonymous will not attempt to fight this by following the exact same course of action. We have plenty of tricks up our sleeves.

As a last point, we would like to point out that different operations are "run" by different people. Those who are involved in the organisation of OpSony, are not necessarily those involved in that of SonyRecon. Anonymous Operations are generally independent efforts, and it would be a mistake to assume that the same individuals are responsible for every action taken. Anonymous is comprised of people with diverse points of view, of which not all coincide with one another.

That being said, our campaign against Sony and others that would trample on the idea of free information will continue, until we are satisfied with the outcome.

    We are Anonymous,
    We are legion,
    We never forgive,
    We never forget,
    Expect us.

    CONTACTS
Kevin Zeese, Legal counsel, on facebook
Anonmi Timbrosi (Anon) - on facebook
ANONYMOUS OPERATION TAKES ON NASDAQ OMX and SWEDEN'S WALLENBERG CARTEL
Was WikiLeaks publisher, Julian Assange, part of the commodity trade deal on December 16, 2010?
Washington, D.C. - On Friday, April 1, 2011, an Operations Department of Anonymous, has launched "Operation Want" by providing to the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission detailed information on the corruption occuring within the NASDAQ OMX Group and their proposed changes to laws that specifically benefit Sweden's Elite Wallenberg Family
    What is Operation Want?
Operation Want is an online think-tank of Anonymous researchers, writers and artists that are specifically interested in transparency of government and the political relationships between Sweden and the U.S. concerning the case of Julian Assange and the coordinated smear campaign against WikiLeaks.
Anonymous is an online confederation of free speech, internet freedom and freedom of information activists. Our goal is absolute transparency of governmental and corporate activities for the benefit of the public of each nation they are in. We believe this case, while it may be obscure to the average citizen, actually will promote their welfare in the near and long term.

Operation Want began as a freelance investigation into the reasons and persons behind the international charges filed against WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange. Why were apparently fraudulent accusations that were dismissed and forgotten reopened? Why did Interpol become involved, rating him at their top red level? Why is the Swedish judiciary pursuing Assange with such ferocity? What interests are involved in this case? What is their motive? Through assessing all of the published Wikileaks cables from the Stockholm Embassy, we believe we can illuminate the machinations as to who has the means and motive.

NASDAQ OMX Group is valued at over $14 trillion. The makeup of the 15 member Board of Directors has lost their balance between industry, non-industry and public interest. For the past five years there has been a power struggle over control and a considerable amount of personal greed. Two of the wealthiest 1% are fighting for ultimate control at the expense of the public trust. The end-game of the struggle within NASDAQ OMX will result in a Swedish-based cartel, which will prevent majority voting abilities within the world's largest global financial trading body.

When corporate and personal self interests dominate, the public's welfare is disregarded, and they are left with picking up the bill. Peoples of the Western Nations are currently dealing with the ramifications of government bailouts of "too big to fail" banking and Wall Street institutions. Education, Health and Welfare programs,
Public Worker benefits and pensions, and regulations protecting the food supply and the environment are cut. The middle class is continually being degraded via wage and benefit reductions, and fewer opportunities. Governments turn to austerity measures which only impact the working man and woman, leaving them less and less able to cope, leaving the elite classes insulated from the global economic reality. The risks of there being one more "too big to fail" financial institution, such as NASDAQ are astronomically incalculable.

Anonymous, through Operation Want has taken action, via legal representation, to oppose NASDAQ's proposal to change the laws that are in place, for the public's interests and that of transparency. We cannot stand by and do nothing while the Wallenberg-led "Cartel" is plotting to hijack the largest stockmarket in the world. It appears that Mr. Assange is but one more commidity to be traded by the Swedes.

Here is a copy of full letter 27 page, including Exhibits, http://issuu.com/anonopwant/docs/secanonopwant?mode=a_p
that has been submitted to the SEC, by legal counsel, on behalf of Anonymous Operation Want and supporting non-profit organizations that oppose the NASDAQ proposal to expand the size of the board to allow an additional Wallenberg company director to have a seat on the board. This comment letter is comprehensive and extensive.
    We are Anonymous.
    Anonymous is Everyone.
    Anonymous is Everywhere.
    We do not forget.
    We do not forgive.
    We are Legion.
    Expect us.

    Re: Open letter from Anonymous

The hacker collective Anonymous has attacked Sony websites all week, taking them down intermittently in retaliation for Sony's federal lawsuit against PlayStation 3 hacker George Hotz ("GeoHot"). But in recent days, "Operation Sony" morphed from a standard website attack into something a bit more personal, as some Anons formed a separate "Sony Recon" mission and began tracking down corporate executives, their wives, the schools their children attend, and the shops at which they buy their flowers. And the way they obtain that information can be ingenious—and disquieting.

Gathering this sort of information is referred to as "doxing" or collecting "dox" on targets, and such data is usually collected and distributed so that others can use it "for the lulz"—amusement, legitimate protest, or harassment.

    Jack Tretton

Public information sources, if properly collated, can supply a wealth of detail. For instance, when a Sony exec's address was located, it was the work of a few moments on local government websites to find out what he pays in taxes, how large the house is, and who lives next door.

When public information just won't do, a bit of social engineering can sometimes supply an answer. It was social engineering that played a role in the Anonymous attacks on HBGary, and some Anonymous operatives are quite skilled at exploiting others.

For instance, one of Sony Recon's key players decided to find the home address and phone number of Sony Computer Entertainment America head Jack Tretton, and he claims to have succeeded using a clever social hack. Here's how it allegedly happened, over four hours:

    sonyrecon335: Indeed Stalin, I can't hack--But I know how to manipulate people
    Stalin-chan: hey
    Stalin-chan: thats better than hacking
    D1sc0n3kt: lol sure it is!

sonyrecon335: I'm going to speak to several companies in the Area,
see if he has ever ordered flowers for his wife etc -
that could lead to a home address.
sonyrecon335: [Business name redacted] - Foster City, CA, 94404 -
These people have a record of an order placed on February 11th
    by a J. Tretton. That's all I could get.
sonyrecon335: I'll give it time, and i'll get a third party to phone
    posing as Tretton.

sonyrecon335: Just confirmed the address I have for Tretton with
the previously mentioned Florists - and it matched. We have him
    ...
sonyrecon335: Just ordered a bunch of Pizza's to be delivered
to Tretton's house under the name Anon Mous
sonyrecon335: That's a little reward to myself for finding the address

With that information shared among channel participants, they could then turn to finding Tretton's home on Google Street View and talking about the car in Tretton's driveway. Within a half hour, sonyrecon335 decided to move beyond the pizza orders and to call the home himself.

sonyrecon335: About to phone Tretton :)
got2b: Haha you're going to actually do it?
    irannaked: got his number?
    got2b: Yeaa : )
    sonyrecon335: for sure
    irannaked: NICE!
irannaked: ask him why he wants to press charges against geohot
sonyrecon335: Right, let's see what he has to say.

    sonyrecon335: ringing him now
    ...
sonyrecon335: Erm the bitch just hung up on me, I assume it was his wife

sonyrecon335: I asked if Jack was there, she asked who it was
    and I said Anonymous

Information collected went far beyond home addresses, though. Anons began collecting much more information on people like overall Sony boss Sir Howard Stringer and his family, with one complaining, "No one found ANY info on Stringers kids?" But they did eventually find information on Stringer, including his height, his addresses, his old fraternity, his corporate security officer, the dates he adopted his son and then his daughter, the schools he attended, his brother's name and year of birth, and the names of his parents.

One Anon even claimed that he had access to information obtained from the garbage outside Stringer's Manhattan apartment.

FresnoNews: might have some new info on their execs to add to the pp
    FresnoNews: waiting a few mins
    FresnoNews: couple ssn's
FresnoNews: should know in 3-5 mins
FresnoNews: someone garbagebinned stringer and is going through it
FresnoNews: got a few statements but no ssn yet
    FresnoNews: lots of papers
    FresnoNews: NONE shredded

    FresnoNews: NYC residence
    narc0synthesis: thats fucking pro

Did this really happen? It's almost impossible to know. I later asked sonyrecon335, one of the more active members of the op, if it was real. He told me that it wasn't real, just a bit of channel chatter; we can't be sure either way.

    Re: Open letter from Anonymous

"After extensively covering Anonymous’ attack on Sony, PlayStation LifeStyle’s news was heavily referenced across the internet by other gaming sites, but they weren’t the only ones to take interest in our articles. Anonymous had noticed, and they wanted to talk.

After waking this morning, I checked Anonymous’ IRC, a secure chat system used by the group to co-ordinate their attacks, after scrolling down a few pages I noticed something – Anonymous were looking for me. User Takai stated on SonyRecon’s IRC “Find me Sebastian Moss… Wanna talk to him”. Subsequently, other members replied “There’s his twitter dude, I can get his email if you want… Moss is a member of GamesPress.com – his details will be easy enough to find.” Anonymous were closing in: “okay Mr Moss lives in central london” continuing “hey sebastain if your here wanna just go ahead and give us your phone number?… cause we’re going to find it”.

Dubbed by some as “giant killers”, its generally not seen as a good idea to incur the wrath of Anonymous, who were able to not only bring Sony down, but governments, Mastercard and US security firm HB Gary. However, while Anonymous has few rules, they do have a very strict one against attacking the press – as supporters of free speech, they must allow journalists to write what they want, even if they don’t like what is written. Takai told the members of the chat ” He is NOT a target”, repeating that I should not be intimidated or threatened.

Checking my Twitter, I had received a message: “Join our IRC #SonyRecon under the username BoltMoss72. Anon has a statement to make”. Anonymous has no formal leader, and instead any member can contribute to the group and suggest actions or make statements, but the SonyRecon IRC was almost unanimous – they had something to say to me.

I joined the chat soon after, still slightly nervous, updating my anti-virus software in a futile attempt to feel more secure. Takai immediately replied to my message, setting up a private chat room to talk. After looking at the IRC chat logs it was clear that Takai, while not a leader, did have a disproportionately high input in the chat, and the group’s actions. I asked Takai if he (gender assumed) would classify himself as “a current driving force behind SonyRecon” and he agreed, but later was careful to clarify that he had “not actually admitted to what [his] particular role in the operation is”, and light-heartedly that “perhaps [he is] merely a cheer leader”.

Takai believed that the FBI, along with Sony and Prolexic were watching the main group’s chat (but not our private conversation), so he chose his words carefully, ensuring he never technically admitted to any wrong doing. However, he said that he did not fear Sony coming after him, and that “they have bigger things to worry about than I”. He also joked that about the FBI watching them: “They’re names in a list. If they want to hang out and chat, by all means. Maybe they can help ddos!.. I hear the government has a fast connection or two ;)

Hired by Sony, Prolexic are a company that specialises in defeating DDoS attacks – the kind currently used by Anonymous to bring down Sony. A powerful opponent, Prolexic have mostly managed to keep Anonymous at bay. Takai, however, seemed relaxed about the company’s defenses – “It was expected. We knew sooner or later Sony would enlist outside help”. Pressed on whether Anonymous would take out Prolexic, Takai showed confidence in the ‘hacktavist’s’ upcoming retaliation, stating “well, if I had to put money on it … I’d say, Prolexic is going down like a two dollar wh*** in a Nevada chicken ranch ;) ”. He did admit that the company “is quite formidable” and congratulated “them for doing so well”, but again he warned “We do however have ways for dealing with the ‘Prolexic’ factor”. Hoping to not ruin the “big surprises” planned for Sony, he would not go into detail on what these ways were, refusing to comment on whether the site would be defaced – something that was considered in the main IRC.

It was clear that Anonymous have only just begun their assault on Sony, with Takai saying about the new defenses: “the last thing we want, is Sony thinking we were in any way discouraged”. He announced “[today] however is an important day for Sony”, threatening that far more was to come:

So far, all Sony has seen from us is poking and prodding. A simple salute to let them know, we’re coming. Make no mistake, what you saw today and thought to be frustration is merely preparation for what’s to come.

We said, expect us. Counting us out, would be a mistake. ;)

    Later:

For the sake of not shooting ourselves in the foot, I won’t comment on specific operational tactics we may or may not employ here. I will however say, that if Sony thinks LOIC is the only trick in our hat … they’re in for a hell of a wake up call. We’re really going all out for this one.

There are many different faces to the operation. Something we encourage is creative thinking.

He also confirmed that this belief was shared by many others: “My belief and that of all those you see here and many many more is that Anonymous is not done with Sony”. And it’s true, the IRC is filled with anonymous Anons planning a big attack, but due to my presence, the discussions on actual plans are kept off the main lines. Takai also stated that the fight could last for a long time: “We’ve known all along this war would not be won in a day. We’re here for the long haul though.”

As part of the attack, SonyRecon compiled as much information as they can about individual Sony employees, something we previously reported on. “The most important thing in any war is information. Knowing your opponent goes a long way. Today was about probing”. When asked about what the data included, Takai replied: “Information about a great many things. Political campaign contributions, floral bouquets, the location of certain key servers in their network.” All this has been compiled to create a intricate list of information regarding the employees. “As employees of Sony, they are considered legitimate targets of the operation” Takai explained, but conceded the ‘Dox’ were “primarily limited to those in positions of power and in very few cases their underlings”. Asked whether there was a limit to Anonymous’ actions, he clarified: “If you mean, would we endanger someone’s personal safety or that of their family. The answer is no. We’ve already made it clear in sonyRecon that pranks like bomb threats, or false fire alarms are considered out of bounds. That would impede emergency responders from dealing with actual emergencies and thus endanger people”. But continued: “We’re being more calculated than that :) … If a few VP’s wake up to 20 boxes of KY jelly at their front door, it’ll be great for lulz”.

With the grinning face of Guy Fawkes as one of their unofficial logos, ‘lulz’ play a big part in the group’s decisions, and while the online community may have helped in taking down the Tunisian Government, they were also responsible for “YouTube P*rn Day”, where adult videos were uploaded to the site en masse. Here, ‘lulz’ have been responsible for a member leaving the song “Chocolate Rain” 0n the Judge in Sony’s case against George Hotz’s answering machine. With personal details of major Sony employees now uncovered, more is sure to follow.

Previous Anonymous attacks were focused on attacking the corporations themselves, with effort put in to ensure that consumers were not hurt (according to some news outlets, Amazon was spared a full attack due to the fact that customers would suffer). However, in OpSony, the PlayStation Network was brought down, meaning that gamers could not play online or use the network’s other services.

“The consumers in this are as one might call, collateral damage” said Takai, after being confronted, “we are very cognisant of the fact that we are not making friends nor allies among the average consumer with our attack. This is unfortunate as a concern should always be, will the very people we seek to support not see what it is we are trying to achieve. In this case, many don’t. There has been a lot of hate spread throughout the internet and over forums that we are being reckless and simply punishing consumers more than Sony.”

To the consumers I would say …
Before you judge us, take the time to understand us.

While not being able to use the PSN is rather inconvenient, many feared a far greater threat – with the PS Store possibly compromised, was our credit card info safe? He replied: “I think I can safely say this on behalf of everyone, we have no malicious intent towards Sony’s consumers.” We mentioned that due to the IRC’s anonymity, a malicious hacker could go along with the hack, and use the chaos to their advantage, but Takai countered: “Attacks on systems are done as part of a coordinated effort. Although the operation is open to all, as is ddosing. More detailed operational components are more controlled.”

When Anonymous declared war on Sony, their reasoning was clear – they were defending George Hotz and Graf_Chokolo, and seeking retribution. As a jailbroken PS3 owner, Takai talked about his, and the group’s, motives: “Sony needs to learn a lesson about life. You can push people only so far, eventually someone’s going to push back… Sony picks fights with kids whom they know to be incapable of defending themselves. We’re here to say, the defenseless, aren’t alone. Sony will not go trodding through the internet unchecked or unchallenged.” On a personal level, Takai expressed his belief in Open Source games, citing free titles like Angry Birds, but conceded that currently, high budget games might not be able to survive on that income stream after we contested the notion. He also agreed that developers deserve to be paid for their work, but did not focus on where the money would actually come from. Speaking about ‘rip-off’ DLC, he believes that boycotting products simply isn’t effective and that more drastic measures should be taken.

While Anonymous claim to stand up for the innocent and defenseless, it is sadly ironic that the average gamer is now left defenseless, unable to access their PlayStation Network accounts, and unable to play online – with our only defense being Sony and Prolexic. A huge number of Anonymous members are set to attack Prolexic and Sony later today, with the outcome of the PlayStation Network possibly hanging in the balance. While Takai is certainly confident in their success, Prolexic have managed to outfox them so far, meaning that it is hard to predict who will win."

    Operation Blitzkrieg - #opBlitzkrieg 05-01-2011

    Neo-Nazis

Your incomprehensible actions, and your reluctance to accept the Freedom and Equality that every single human being possesses by right from birth, causes the birth to hatred and worldwide Racism.

After the first World War, your ideology plunged the world into chaos. You took over a plague, known as anti-Semitism, and made sure that racism was drilled into our collective consciousness, in order for humanity to accept this crude ideas as given, mostly without ever questioning them.

Your misdirected politics and your hate filled crusade against humanity have not only blurred your perception, but also affected countries worldwide. You have robbed irretrievable evidences of history as well as valuable art objects and architectural structures which belong to mankind, or were part of the cultural heritage of humanity. You were anxious to cause trouble between continents, which involved a collapse of political dialogues. The result, the cold war, lasted for years and its voice still echoes today. The holocaust against the Jewish, the sinti and the roma, your so called "euthanasia" imposed on disabled people, all of them are considered the cruel climax of the Second World War, to a cost of 6.000.000 innocent people's lifes. You have combined the ideals of industrialization with the abomination of mass murder, a circumstance that led to destruction of human life, in a scale never seen before.
All this are known fact,s and yet you are still following and spreading such ideals, in order to enhance the symbolism of this despicable hate further. You are still causing injuries and killing people, people who have that done nothing against you, and yet you do it partly out of disgust or simply for your own personal pleasure.

You intimidate people that go on the streets protest for their ideals, and attack your political opponents, thus you deny them the right of free speech. Yet you hypocriticaly demand this exact same right of free speech for yourself, and throw the dirt in the form of agitations and "art arround you ". You attack journalists and the media in general, you attack members of the opposing parties and equally you attack refugees and immigrants, who live and work in your "home country". This people simply had to leave their native countries because of suppression and misery.

This behaviour can no longer be tolerated. You have convicted yourself to many crimes against humanity. With this hypocritical attitude and your drive to become a mirror of your inspirational criminals, you have brought the attention of the collective known as Anonymous upon yourself.

In this case, this attention implies the taken of crucial actions against your actions.

    We are Anonymous.
    We are Legion.
    We do not Forgive.
    We do not Forget.

    Expect Us.

Re: Anonymous declare war againse neo-nazi websites

    About fucking time !!!

Back around 2 years ago i funded a group like Anonymous with a couple of friends, we targetted only neo-nazi website... The concept was based on Anonymous because it was very efficient but we were disappointed that they only targetted scientology website... Unfortunatly we were busy with other things and we dissoved group a few months after it was created because we didnt have enough time and nazis were starting to spot where the attack came from and they were trolling our forums... We still managed to DDoS the largest nazi websites :)
I'm glad that Anonymous started to target those assholes.

lots of ppl are talking about the operation on AnonNews.... seems like the community is divided, a lot of hacktivists are against this Op because they believe in "free speech for everyone".. i think they are just hypocrite... They seems to forget that anonymous was created to destroy scientology, and when they attacked their websites they were preventing them from expressing free speech

some idiots even post comments like "anonymous is not the jews personnal army" ... they seem to misunderstand neo-nazism... neo-nazism is a threat to everyone not only jews... If they fight for free speech then Neo-nazis are the ennemy of free speech... They attacked targets because they were threatening free speech, well neo nazis are also threatening free speech

hate speech is not free speech

    Re: Open letter from Anonymous

    Good morning/afternoon/evening Anons.

Problems are brewing for the people of New Zealand.

Their government has decided to wiretap citizens indiscriminately and The Copyright

Infringing File Sharing Amendment Bill has been passed allowing law enforcement to cut off internet access to those accused of piracy

Additionally, the government feels that it is acceptable to monitor a users internet activity.

With the help of larger corporations, the government will start logging IP addresses to initiate lawsuits.Any activity, including viewing streaming media via Youtube or other social media sites, can be viewed as infringement of copyright laws.

This law is in breach of certain Ideals we Anons hold true, ideas such as Internet freedom

This is a step backwards to the internet; a step that does not conform with the ever-changing way the internet fuctions.

Because such actions are not those of democracy, but rather are characteristics of a corpate/lobbyist totalitarian state, the people of New Zealand have already taken to protesting in order to shed light on this bill

They are showing that they will NOT stand for this

    And neither shall WE

It's time we step in and support the people of New Zealand.

Auckland, NZ - With the passage of The Copyright (Infringing File Sharing) Amendment Bill by the New Zealand Parliament, Anonymous has launched a major operation to chastise the government of New Zealand for this act of oppression [1].

Operating under the flagship "Operation Payback", Anonymous has targeted the domain of the New Zealand parliament for internet silence.

On Saturday, April 30 at 23:59 UTC, the website was rendered inoperable by a successful denial of service effort.

In a video address published minutes before the attack [2], Anonymous asserted: "Guilty until proven innocent - we shall never accept this, and nobody should."

Promising a continued large-scale effort, Anonymous is planning a sustained campaign which is likely to include activist action on the ground.

Security services protecting the parliament website were "confident [the] website will stand up", with "adequate firewalls in place" [3].

However, like many organizations and individuals before them, they have committed the dire error of underestimating Anonymous. Unable to resist the anger of the masses, system administrators proceeded to cut their own website off from international traffic soon after the attack began.

This effectively accomplished much of our work for us. This cowardly act also demonstrated a willingness on part of the New Zealand governement to isolate themselves from the international community in order to maintain control over their citizenry.

Unwilling to confront their defeat, the security services promptly buried their head in the sand, denying that any attack ever took place. The extent of their humiliation became painfully obvious to everyone but them when an independent news source finally acknowledged an Anonymous victory [4].

In addition to the protests against the NZ parliament; Anonymous also protested the website of NZ FACT (New Zealand Federation against Copyright Theft) an organization which actively encourages the persuing of "file sharers" and encourages punitive punishments.

Service was denied to this website for over 10 hours and counting (at time of release).

Operation Payback is a long-standing Anonymous action, members of which have taken it upon themselves to defend freedom of information on the internet.

The operation was involved in the high-profile actions against Visa and Mastercard upon their withdrawal of support to Wikileaks.

Operation Payback has successfully challenged and in some cases destroyed legal firms and online security companies.

    Letter to New Zealanders

    To all New Zealanders,

As of April 14, 2011, a crime has been committed against you; the Copyright Amendment Bill, has enabled law enforcement to cut off the Internet access of any New Zealander accused of piracy and fine you up to $15,000, without solid evidence.

In addition, your government appears to feel that it is acceptable to control users' Internet activity. With the help of larger corporations, the government will start logging IP addresses to initiate lawsuits. Any download, including those necessary to view media streams via Youtube or other social media sites, can be viewed as infringement of copyright laws - whether or not the download is legal - under the presumption of file transferring or sharing.

This law directly contradicts the ideals that Anonymous holds true, such as Internet freedom for all.

The 'accused' are additionally having their basic human rights violated by being presumed guilty until proven innocent. Furthermore, by suspending an account holder, rather than the access of those who are downloading, the account holder is deemed to be guilty of an offence they have not necessarily been proven to have committed.

Such actions are not those of a democracy but rather the characteristics of a lobbyist totalitarian state. Many of you have already begun to protest in order to shed light on this bill, which was hastily passed under the guise of a national emergency, with little public notice. You must join your fellow New Zealanders and show that you will stand against such outrageous behaviour, and deter other nations' governments from following. New Zealand has long been seen as a world leader when it comes to equality and human rights; let's not have this perception change now. Continue your protests with the knowledge that you are not alone - Anonymous and Internet users everywhere will stand in support of this movement.

Your civil liberties and privacy are under attack. Do not let those that you have voted into office silence you.

    Expect Us.

    Re: Open letter from Anonymous

Anonymous - A Message To Viacom:

    Greetings, World. We are Anonymous.

For years we have had to endure Viacom's attempts to strip away the basic rights of the individual. We have been silenced persistently, and consequently the free flow of information has been limited.

Thousands of people have undergone the unfortunate experience of receiving falsely-claimed copyright infringements. For far too long have we shared an enraged commonality in helplessly witnessing totalitarian-like actions taking place. The logging of millions of IP addresses and personal information extends beyond the domain of acceptability. When one's capitalistic agenda interferes with, exploits, and profits through infringing upon an individual's freedom, we, Anonymous, endorse the people's rights and hereby demand a refund.

After Viacom lost their lawsuit against YouTube, they continued to exploit YouTube for money. Viacom's justification of "creator's rights" seems only to mean making money for the sake of money. Their hypocritical action of uploading fake videos to YouTube in order to furnish their own court case is transparent:

"For years, Viacom continuously and secretly uploaded its content to YouTube, even while publicly complaining about its presence there. It hired no fewer than 18 different marketing agencies to upload its content to the site. It deliberately 'roughed up' the videos to make them look stolen or leaked."

"Viacom's request for all YouTube's records of log-in names and email and IP addresses was granted by a US district court in a preliminary hearing..."
    ( http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcastin ... iacom.html )

Anonymous demands from Viacom a public press release to admit and apologize for the fraud and crimes that they have commited. Anonymous also demands that Viacom allows everyone thoughout the internet full rights to be able to express themselves. Lastly, we, the citizens of the world, demand that Viacom stops their attempts to gather personally identifying information such as IP's, which are of no relevance to them.

    We are Anonymous.
    We are Legion.
    We do not forgive.
    We do not forget.
    Expect us.
