What's the deal with...

First off, @ everyone concerned:

FUCKINGfuck. Yes, I have a fucking job, people. The difference is I don't go around to other people going "get a job!" nor do I use my job to meet people and berate them for also working. That. Is. The. Difference. I also feel I only work because i'm not some teenaged squatter lifestylist, I'm an old man with a baby to feed. Now, for the last fucking time--I'M NOT RANTING ON ALL PRIMITIVISTS OR ANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO LIVE A HUNTER/GATHERER LIFESTYLE. I'm ranting on hypocritical dipshits. I'm not being closed-minded. I also don't give a fuck who is male, female or even a fucking tree on this forum. I'm more concerned with what comes out of your mouth/fingers than whats between your legs and where you put it. Had my post last night worked, you'd also see I was trying to be civil about the matter.

I hope you can understand how the way you worded your original post seemed to me (and others) like an accusation of ethnocentrism. Such an accusation would not be something to be taken lightly, but if you say that wasn't your intention I'll go with that. Shit happens.

Also, the whole "dude" thing...i didn't mean to imply any gender really. "Dude" is a word i use in place of "person" or "hey you" and is unfortunately it's over-usage is a bad habit I've picked up since moving to the west coast. I don't know who decided "dude" referred solely to males or why, but that's a whole other discussion entirely.

Ok, I'll give it a shot.

How will it "increase" people's freedom? The way I see it, it's pretty much forcing one way of life on people, with little to no choice in the matter. In an anarchist society, even in THIS society, if someone wants to break away and live a more primitive lifestyle, they have that choice. In a world of solely hunter/gatherer style communities, if someone wants to break away and live a more 'civilized' (for lack of a better word) lifestyle...how are they supposed to do that if science and technology have been abandoned and civilization has completely been dismantled?

He has a degree, so I should just take his word for it? I don't put much stock in people's degrees, especially considering the biased and flawed educational system that gives them out. They're just a pretty piece of paper you get to make more money to buy more shit, not an indication of supreme unquestionable knowledge. William Pierce had a PhD, I certainly don't take anything he, or any of the other fine aryan folks over at the National Alliance, has to say seriously.

As for the matter of ecology, i can agree that there certain ill-effects civilization has had on the eco system. I can also agree that conservation should be among our top priorities, and we should do everything we can to remedy the planet's situation to preserve life on earth. I just don't think we have to destroy civilization to do it.

If you want to post/link more info on the subject that's fine I guess. But in all honesty, what are the chances of getting information from a pro-primitivist/anti-civ source that isn't biased?

Last night, when i first tried to respond to this (my computer made everything disappear so i went to bed frustrated) i had a response to this that was along the lines of "how hard can it be?". I've since thought about it and realized that not everybody may have had my upbringing, with regular off-the-grid camping trips and learning to hunt/fish/night-time spearfishing etc. so i can see how it might be a harder goal to achieve for some. Either way, though, I do feel there will always be some things you simply can't learn until you just go do it. You can read countless books on surgery, but that will never compare to actually taking part in one. And the certain people who spend all their time on different internet forums posting poetry about not using deodorant giving people shit about destroying the world for using a computer will most likely never live a primitivist lifestyle. I just don't want them giving me shit for not living that way either. I like civilization for the most part.

And you are right in saying that I wouldn't tell somebody who's interested in making a career in stock brokering to just "do it". In all honesty, I'd probably just spit on them.

 

I also wanted to mention something Jason Godesky mentioned on not living certain places because it's private property. Since when do we care about private property of land-hoarders? If somebody has serious acreage and doesn't live on it or use it, i say fuck 'em anyway. People can squat buildings and even entire obsolete military complexes--why can't they squat woods, a mountain or an island?
