I see a lot of people play guitar and such..

So what pedals are you using for what type of music..
This interests me as I can never find the perfect one,,or indeed two..If playing lead at a different volume..
I always wonder what Bones out of Discharge used..It sound too filthy to be just amp..
Maybe an old big muff or something???

Good ol' Boss DS-1. I mostly play punk and ska, not too much metal or anything. I'm not talented much to do much more then some leads and upstroking.

I rarely use pedals nowadays since my new amp has sufficient setting options,
but when I do I go for the RAT pedal for hardcore discharge-type punk and metal

Don't use distortion pedal, just overdrive amp. Use flanger and echo pedals sometimes.

Not sure what bones from discharge used but if you want distortion similar to kawakami of disclose use an overdrive pedal and a chromatic tuner. The guitarist of Mangel wankers uses that. I used a boss distortion pedal on my bass

I use a digitech distortion factory on the setting where it has the sound of a Metal Master (though once I find my old Digitech Death Metal pedal I might use that instead...or alternate...or use both at once  )....sounds crusty as fuck with the gain and volume cranked, the bass turned up, plugged into my epiphone SG with a Vo AC-30 amp. Great for any kind of Crust/D-Beat/Grind/whatever.

depending on what sound you want, Boss are generally the best when it comes to pedals, I use a boss and for the extra kick my amplifier has an overdrive option. Behringer have an interesting Distortion pedal which can alternate between three different types. They are pretty cheap compared to the Boss one.

Does anyone know how I could change the setting on my distortion pedal to get a Decontrol distortion sound?

Yeah I use a Boss orange distortion pedal, gets the job done, although relatively basic by today's standards, but i can still dig it.

On Friday at gig,,I used my Ibanez SD9 sonic Distortion for Rhythm three quarters of the way round on the gain and bought a Boss MT 2 Metal Zone for lead.About a third of the way round for gain..This thing has insane amounts of distortion...I switched between them with a Boss LS 2 Line Selector..
Saves any Tap dancing..One swift clunk and job is done..Apparently we sounded good and Very loud..I played through a Stack.First time I have gigged through 8 x 12 speakers...Great fun..
The only pics for now are dead grainy black and white ones..There are some decent colour ones coming..

I use a MXR Classic overdrive pedal that was on sale for 20 bucks at guitar center. Fuck with the knobs enough and it sounds like all the bands on Crass records.

DOD Grunge pedal, put through a Marshall JCM2000 on the lead channel. I love this pedal, gets an awesome bass-y low end and you can crank up the fuzz and on top of an already overdriven amp it can almost sound like Disclose or other "noise not music" bands. Plus they aren't really highly thought of, beats me why, so you can usually find them pretty cheap on eBay

I usually fiddle with the overdrive/tone settings on my amp. So far, I've been successful in finding a good tone. I like to try and keep things as simple as possible, the only pedal I ever use is a tuner. But there are certain tones that you can only get through pedals. Your best bet is to go to a guitar shop and take the time to try them out and see what sounds best to you.
