Yeah... if you don't know the Sunspehere you're obviously not up on your where-have-the-simpsons-visited trivia. I'm from Knoxville, TN.

Okay... about me. I'm old as shit. Creeping up on 31. Okay probably not the oldest guy in the world but I feel that way pretty often these days. I've spent over half of my life in the scene... long enough that i remember when the word "scene" was a dirty, corrupted word. Knoxville was good back in those days aside from having to walk uphill both ways in the snow (with no shoes). Lately... not so much. The options for catching a show around here seem limited to shelling out fifty bucks to see Mike Ness sing to screaming teeny-boppers or catching a few and far between show at a bar... not all ages mind you... with an attendance consisting of the bands that are playing and three other people.

Question? Is it like this everywhere? God I hope not but I'm getting to be afraid that this time punk really is dying. Thanks a bunch facebook.

Anyway... me... In theory I'm an anarchist. I believe it's a great model for personal living. But at the same time I fully understand that society will never subscribe to personal living... will always seek to have a system in place. My anarchism is in telling my boss to fuck himself. My anarchist is in eating from my own garden. My anarchism is in the complete freedom I have in knowing that while you wait in line at the pumps, I'll be sailing by on my bike with the wind in my face. I don't hope for anything more than that in the way of anarchy. Understanding that to be about as good as it'll get and that there iwll always be a system in place I'm something of a communist. There are books and books of discussion we could go into about how the two doctrines coexist peacefully in my head... but another day.

I care about animals, though I love meat. My ideal is to rely as much as possible on what can be provided in humane (okay... less cruel) manners. Fishing, hunting, etc. I like my stake without the bolt in the cows head... I like my eggs from chickens that get treated like family pets.

So much should go without saying. LGBT supporter. Anti-war. Fuck nazi's. Resist globalization. Et cetra ad nauseum.

Hmm... of note... I spent six years in the Army. Now how a Crass loving little peace punk ends up joining the army? Ask me sometime. But the fact is I did make that mistake and while I would never do it again and would discourage anyone else, I am glad I did it once for the insight it has given me. Card carrying member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. And no... i never killed anyone.

I'm a published author. I'd tell you to buy my book but I'd rather you just steal it. The price is a bit steep and I don't see much from it so... but if you ever come across a book called Killing Fields by R.A. Butler you should steal a few copies.

My musical taste is pretty broad. As for punk... which is my true staple, I'm mainly into crust, 77, oi, ya know... the good stuff. Add to that ska, raggae, dub, old country, 80's new wave, the stuff that was called emo back in 95 that sounds nothing like emo now, classical, 50's rock, 60's folk, bluegrass, political hip hop, really early goth, and a very few samplings from contemporary stuff.

    Blah blah blah.

    Oh... and beer.
