I've heard of punks making so called gangs but had never encountered any until the other night. I ran into some of the Chi-Town '77 Street Punks that I've heard about. They had some friends with them that had Tiger back patches. Above the Tiger patch it said something I couldn't make out since their long hair was blocking it but the bottom clearly said "Rockers". I doubt they're like a normal street gang, selling crack and shooting each other, but who the fuck knows. Does anyone know anything about the Chi-Town '77 Street punks, the mysterious Tiger-rocker guys, or any other "punk rock gangs"? Are they REALLY gangs, or just crews that sets up shows or something of the sort?

I wasn't sure where to post this so if you think it should be moved go ahead and move it.

Chi-Town street punk dudes...I've heard of them. Fence-sitter scum. They're the type of people that would get banned here. They used to have a website like 10 years ago, don't know about now. The tiger guys are a mystery. There used to be tons of punk gangs in the early 80's scene, kind of non-existent now...aside from certain HxC crews.

Was going to be in one when I was younger.
Not a gang though. just a group of "punks" to defend ourselves from any gangster or nazi's in the area that would harass us.
Never went through with it though. I was young, I was 14 Friends were 16/17.

i dont think they ever claim to be a gang
but it seems implied. (did i spell that right?)
Im sure the mentality is there when it comes to
    fighting one anothers fights.
its probably more along the lines of a social club
meaning they hang out with eachother.
i've witnessed them to play around with racist and
sexist terms for the sake of shock value which i think is stupid but i dont need to get into that.
it seems to be a popular re-occuring theme among sub-culture.
i've had people tell me they are goons.
you know yer run of the mill thug.
    its no surprise.
a group of people fucking up isn't news.
im sure there is an argument that
"punk" is dangerous and you're going to bump elbows with
un savory types. i think its lame but maybe not untrue..
    atleast among certain groups. i

In san diego over in the east county theres a group called the "Low Lifes", dont really know what they're about partly because they follow a code of "everything we do is secret" but they're just petty thieves and system fuckers from what i can gather, which is all good. just dont let'em near you stuff...or for that matter your drugs or booze!

How big is the "punkrock gang" thing on your side of the atlantic ocean?

In Denmark there isn't really any of such - which is nice.. Haha..

It's basically nothing here too. Like I said, aside from some of the tough-guy HxC crews, it's pretty rare.

That's good... I just heard a bit about it and it's hard to know how bad it is from the other side of the pond...

I never understood the idea of gangs anyway... Luckily there's not much of it where I live... Or well, a bit - but it's pretty easy to avoid bumping into...

Yeah I saw that too. They (FSU/Friends Stand United/Fuck Shit Up) stomp neo-nazis wherever they find them, but they did kill a dude at a 25 Ta Life show. Not that I care much for 25 Ta Life or their macho homophobic fans with gangster mentality, but murder was a bit of an overkill, pun intended.

I was in a crew in my skinhead days, but it was more of just a group of friends drinking beer and listening to music at each other's houses, and travelling to shows together. It consisted of a mix of a few skinheads, a couple crusties, and some other people into punk, hardcore and indie rock that had nobody else to hang out with in our semi-little town. That's the way i liked it, diverse and unified. No need to jump in on anybody else's fight unless it was to keep things fair.

I cannot share those stories as they were some pretty sketchy times,, I hope you understand.

But I do remember that groups of these dudes would walk the streets at night and beat up crusties or as they called them "dirty kids"

And here is a murder that one was involved in: http://www.chitowndailynews.org/Chicago ... wning,9838
The comments below the main article may shed some light on this group

Also I remember someone getting jumped:
"Someone called about their son being jumped and attacked after a party at 1446 N Artesian.
The father reported that the son said these were members of Chi-Town 77 and that they outnumbered him 5-1.
He also reported that they used chains and a pipe on him."

It takes a quick google search to get a bunch of these stories so try that

Yeah I've seen that and heard a lot about the militant, straightedge, FSU douches. What's next, militant vegans attack people for drinking milk? :lmao:
Ah, so they're another one of those "We have nothing better to do so we'll just beat up crusties" groups. Sounds like a bunch of fascists in punk uniforms.

I've heard about the murder case and have checked them up on google. I was just hoping for some personal experiences, but thanks any way.
