I work in a shitty corporate grocery store, so I spend a lot of time stealing shit, or fucking with the prices. I only work 2 shifts a week (fuckers are trying to shore up on hours, save themselves money by screwing us even ore), both shifts are the mornings when the big orders come in, and there are no cameras in the room they're kept in, so I pretty much go to town stealing shit.
I would never steal anything from a small, independently-owned business, they're having a hard enough time getting by as it is, but I have no remorse about stealing from a corporate chain store.

i used to do the five finger discount all the time as a kid, when i was out with my older brother's friends we would grab shit and ask the other to hold it. funny cause by the time we were heading out of the store each of us probably had something on us, sort of defeated the purpose, i guess.

Same here, I would steal more, but I always think about the fact that though that company may have lost a trivial amount of profit from my actions, it still promotes the production of said product, and all the abuse of labor, and environmental devastation into making its replacement.

Do it while you're young, and you wont get in much trouble.
I'm pretty sure the law here in America, or at least in California is you can go to prison for a minimum (or maybe max) of 2 years if you get caught for your 2nd petty theft.

Second Petty Theft charge can be counted as a felony, which is really complete and utter bullshit.

I'm not too against stealing from large chain stores, but I don't do it personally. I don't get any satisfaction from it, and I'm way too scared to get caught if I did steal.. Stealing other people's personal possessions on the other hand I'm absolutely against.

i don't attend to steal much, it makes me regret after. I remember being held at gunpoint a few times by some motherfuckers trying to get the little i have. i guess stealing from a store makes me think of that shit all the time.

I got robbed at gunpoint 10 minutes after getting released from jail on my long walk home. I didn't even bother calling the cops because I had had enough of talking to them and it would've been more hassle than it was worth. I was in jail for a month over $50 in unpaid fines and I get robbed at gunpoint right outside the jail, hell yea American justice system.

aren't the stores not legally allowed to touch or detain you anyways? I mean if you leave the store and they say hey come here, you'd have to be pretty stupid to do so :p Though another strategy is to have someone grab something in front of the clerk and have them chase you out of the store and have a friend then go in and go to town :)

i havent shoplifted in a long time, mainly because i'm afraid of getting caught :( Also i have kind of a scraggly beard so i look like im up to no good in stores and tend to get watched closely. BUt i have no problem switching prices at goodwill and other thrift stores, which is easy enough. I would only steal now if i needed something like food and had no money. But when i see people shoplifting, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, as long as it is a corporate chain store. I agree that stealing from mom and pop shops is kinda shitty, and i stated my opinion already on stealing from charitable places. I almost wish there'd be mad rights in OC so i could go looting. That always looks like fun on tv...

I steal energy drinks, MTG shit, tech shit (webcams, mics), and sometimes gaemes. It's easy when you realise most alarms and cameras don't really exist and are just plastic. A good way i learned to tell which cameras worked was to fuck around with the merchandise. An Example was to knock over an energy drink, let it explode and evacuate the area, as fast and as calm as possible. I've done this to several stores, if they confront you about it, Cameras exist, if they don't, then they don't exist. It's a bizarre way to tell, but it works.

Stealing, meh. If you do it and you have legitimate reason to then good for you, but I'm irritated by people that steal to promote their punk reputation. I only ever steal from my work because I know I can get away with it and most of the time I need the food more than they do, and I steal from the garbage which I don't really count as stealing but apparently the law does. I think the important thing about stealing as a form of protest is to remember who you're stealing from. Huge corporations that are linked with several other chains I endorse stealing from full heartedly, as for people who own their own business or even small chain of businesses is really uncalled for. I myself as an anarchist don't believe in economic worth of things but for society to achieve that we're going to have to work backwards in small steps, one of these steps being reverting huge businesses to small ones and I just think that stealing from those is counter productive.
