Yep but they didn't. Actually the reactor number 3 (the one that is in danger to explode since yesterday) is a reactor made from recycled plutonium and uranium (plutanium is even more dangerous than uranium and it is rarely used). This plutonium comes from france and is recycled in this reactor, then it is bought used by foreign powers to make nukes.... In other words Japan are participating to the commerce of nuclear weapons.

Its somewhat ironic isn't it. You'd think the anti-nuclear lobby there would be huge.

I sensed it was more noticeably anti-war rather than anti-nuclear power when I was there, but then again I'm no expert...

They have the eternal flame in Hiroshima that burns until all nukes are destroyed, and they still have no armed forces (although not much need when you have a proxy - the US).

Why do they need 55 nuclear power plants? Japan isn't that big.

They don't have any other ores / goods to produce. Japan is made from vulcanic rocks ( if that's the name on english, not sure.). Their success is based on nuclear power / technology. They used the terrain as much as they could. Also, I think that the same problem is with France, which has 58 n.p. plants. And, I think that U.S. have more then 100 ( around 110 if I'm not wrong).

I think people need to understand that nuclear power is not a joke. If you build 55 nuclear power plants on 377 900 km^2 big country, you should be aware that people are in danger from radiation. Also, I'm glad that Japan didn't lie, and told everyone what the problem is, and that they are not sure they can solve it.

I hope there will be no earthquakes / tshunamis there anymore.

Ha! Today I was arguing with his roommate about nuclear power plant safety. He's an ecologist. Now then, he argues that nuclear power is the eco safest of all types of power plants. He argues that the cause of the explosion is not the most technology viz to the Guide itself accident. Maybe he's right, but all the same though as did nuclear power plant is fully automated a lot of problems with radioactive waste management and disposal. But for the government of Russia is the most profitable business. Russian Federation is the sole employer for processing and disposal of waste on the territory of Siberia. To Siberia is sucks. I remember at Angarsk in Irkutsk region wanted to build a large nuclear reactor for re-processing urn where be come from France. Even 4 years ago there was a eco protest camp. But the fate of the camp was a sad one :/ .

The best choice of bad options isn't necessarily a good thing...

There are lots of beatings and even murders at these camps, right? Really fucked up.
Australia has just cut a deal to sell Russia more Uranium.

I thought that the resulting nuclear waste would need thousands and thousands of years to even half its dangerous radiation. must have been a mistake, since it's 'eco-safest'... o_O
also, using potential bombs for energy supply... i don't know... it just doesn't sound reasonable ;)

no seriously, if someone tells that nuclear power is 'eco-safest', he's a total dumbass in my opinion...
as if no co2 would automatically be like 'no danger for enviroment'... bullshit!

but people will not think different after a second chernobyl/hiroshima, i suppose...

in an infoshop post the author notes that nuclear power plants are 'the most dangerous means yet invented to boil water' (not exact quote), it sounds about right to me.

yeah, slackbastard covered that story for us here in Australia. It's mostly uranium dug up from Indigenous land here in Aus that's getting dumped in Russia...

Very interesting article.. Thank you, friend. On my own I want to add about these developments. I am unfortunately unable to participate there, because I was not contact to Autonomous Action - Irkutsk. But i remember about news this tragedy. Some Krasnoyarsk a nazi fuckers involved these attack and tried to hide from the police. But they were proud that they have beatings a pair of anti-fascists/anarchists. I don't know, but I remember that one of my friends said that one nazi girl was caught, which she participated in this attack. I'm not sure is it. After a year later, I still visited Irkutsk and met with local anarchists. When visited the apartment of one are some participants of the camp, I saw the pictures of the deceased Ilya Borodaenko. I was not myself then moment. It's sad when you see a photograph of the deceased and at the same time you talk with friends of the deceased. At a time when he returned back to Krasnoyarsk, I had only one desire walks and fucking beat to nazi motherfuckers, that basically a i did to the time. Many anarchist from the Eastern Siberia are hard to forget is it....

    in france they got 72...

How the hell can someone living in russia possibly argue with you than nuclear is eco safe when russia is the world's top importator of nuclear waste.... There is a very good french documentary called "waste, the nightmare of nuclear" and they retrace what happens with the nuclear waste from france power plant and they find out that they the nuclear waste are stocked in Tomsk, Syberia.... Problem is that the wastes are stocked without any form of protection, it isnt even protected by walls or roofs... Imagine what would happen if a tsunami hit this place.... Or imagine how terrorists could easily steal the waste..

here is a picture from the documentary, exposing the nuclear waste stockage

Well... That is what I already good know :) . This not really anyone be surprised in Russia or Siberia. But anyway .. People in Siberia at relation to this problem are passive. I don't understand people in Siberie of they so wanting when as Siberia in the future to become a nuclear desert or what? I don't have a such future, no thanks
