er yes but you have to agree to windows terms......
ok runninig debian, blag or any other lynux system requires u to have a computer manufactured by......

but lynux dose not require you to sign any agreement other than if you develop programs you must share that information

rather than big companies running things this is about keeping it free.......

i have no clue about developing programs but i can use this the debian system and get any program i want free of charge plus free of signing capitalists agreements

other benifits are that you can keep your computer running for ever

i heard a story from a friend who had an apple that having bought an ipod he had to buy a new computer because his computer that was a few years old could not support this device

i have a freind who runs some VERY OLD COMPUTERS that are perfectly capable of dealing with up to date music files

we are putting computers in the bin because software is designed to keep us replacing them

my computer runs much quicker since i swapped plus has far better features

this is personal but i see apple as way more evil than mcrosoft because they are the builders of the hardware as well as the software........

if you are not sure you can run your current operating system on the same computer as running debian or blag

just choose which you log into on start up

Well, signing agreements don't mean you got to stick to them, but seriously, main reason I not got lynux running is I can't be bothered.

Ok, well I live in small village in Bulgaria, and I'm vegan, try to grow as much my own food as possible, so that covers the Tesco / McDonalds stuff. If there was a Tesco down the road, I dunno, probably would buy stuff there, if they sold something I wanted to buy, which aint that likely, but it not same thing anyway.

It not same cos I not buying stuff from Microsoft every day, in fact I bought two copies in last 20 years, and both were second hand of ebay. I got more of a problem with the fact that I can only get internet access via national phone network, but it's that or nothing.

Wrong! Firstly Linux or GNU/Linux to be correct is the combination of GNU tools and Linux kernel. It's used to make the GNU/Linux operating system, now used by millions and sometimes incorrectly called simply “Linux".
Second. You don't sign a contract to use free software. But you do have to abide by the license terms. With the GPL it basically means if you make changes to the program and release the code you must share those changes. With BSD and MIT type licenses you don't.

In easy terms the GPL is designed to protect you the user by giving you power. It uses copyright to protect copyleft. The code can not be closed it must be shared. The BSD type licenses give more power to the developer and any developer can always fork the program and make it non-free.

    Back on topic

Facebook and Myspace are plain evil every anti-capitalist should shun them along with that Apple and Windows slaveware. I fail to understand how anyone can defend their use it wen free alternatives readily exist. It's not like you need a computer science degree to install Blag or Dedian. Burn a CD or copy the image to usb and boot from it. answer a few question and your done.

You registered just to write that? I guess the defence is that I get more out of it than they get out of me. Lets face it, I don't need internet access, I don't even need electricity, I not gonna die without them, and neither are you, but I use it anyway cos I figure I benefit more, it's not like they will even notice my boycott while a few billion other people still lap it up, or maybe it's just some kinda addiction. Sorry, I don't lose sleep over it, but just for you, sometime I'll look into it, if I not got better things to do, as long as you become vegan, well maybe you already are, in which case that gonna be kinda easy for you to pull off.

Yes I did, it needed saying by someone.

What you get out of it is pwned

Great I'll help you out if you need it

Spoken like a real hardline anti-capitalist

    So irrelevant words fail me.

Anyway if anyone wants to free them selves form their web slavery these links may help

    http://suicidemachine.org/

    http://www.debian.org/
The universal operating system, run on everything from a toaster to a space probe. Built by its users with no dependence on a company or magnanimous dictator (unlike Blag sadly which is built off Fedora which is sponsored by Redhat. That said Blag links to no-non-freesoftware at all unlike Debian which does but not by default)
Debian is also working on the freedombox in an effort to keep the internet free by by passing the cloud and putting users back in control http://www.freedomboxfoundation.org/

I use Debian with no non-free software, but Blag is probably more fitting to users here. It is also FSF free

    Enjoy

About the whole linux thing... How am I to "steal" new computergames and play on my linux distribution without having a shitfast computer? I don't pay for windows anyway, it works for me...

On the whole myspace thing.. One of my friends here in Denmark is by the help of me and some other people (he is the guy with the skills), making a free alternative for danish DIY bands... Hopefully we can make it work economically by throwing some parties and what not, and make it possible to have a social network with the possibility of promoting your band, distro and all that, without making some rich guy richer...

hey, admins: can't you tidy this place up and put all postings Linux-concerning into another thread, so we can get back to discussing:

    myspace and facebook, and alternatives.

the ads about myspace really suck - who would want to have capitalist ads next to anti-capitalist content? at myspace there are only bands left anyway. it's not attractive to visit myspace to download music anymore. on bandcamp, most bands share few of their stuff.

actual people turned to facebook. btw: the last wave of repression in Iran has shown, how useful this page can be to the fascists, concerning political action/debate.

Do people still use Myspace? Last time I went on Myspace it was to shut down my old band's profile and I never bothered to set another one up because everyone uses facebook now anyway. As for Facebook, I do have a profile, mainly because I live 200 miles away from most of my friends and its a simple way to keep in contact with people. My band also has a Facebook page because its free promotion.

Hey Sputnik can you try to go on discussing the topic without being so terribly distracted by off topic content that you can't concentrate and stay on topic thus creating more off topic content? o_O

So the off topic content has distracted Sputnik, causing Sputnik to further derail the topic. Then you, in an attempt to bring the thread back on topic, actually go further off topic, causing me to get distracted and, finally, posting my own off-topic comment.

Man, some people should really keep their traps shut, I can't make heads or tails of this shit!

I am deleting my Myspace account as well as my Facebook account.
I can not support the capitalist social networks by using them.
