Found this article on Libcom.org and thought it could make for some interesting discussion over here. http://libcom.org/library/anarcho-scene ... w-fight-it

They make it sound like you can be either punk OR anarchist, not both through out the entire article. Then they kinda take it back at the end. They say it's to fight elitism but it comes off kinda elitist itself.

At least that's what i took away from it.

Yeah that's what I thought as well... they seem to contradict themselves in those concluding points. Looking on the Libcom forums everyone seems to think these guys are just crap haha, I think I agree.

    Condensed version:

"Let's invite certain people to speak so punks don't show up. No punks allowed in our anarchy club...because they're elitist!Punk music is ok, though."

I'm glad these dudes aren't the concensus. I'd hate to think an anarchist organization would be so discriminatory.

I didn't read the whole thing (it was long and they fucking babble - they should do a condensed version), but I got a totally different message. I thought it was warning against anarchism becoming a mere cultural movement rather than a genuinely political one. Arguing that anarchism (and especially it's offshoot into punk) is focusing too much on looking right and falling into traps of an old guard. These seem like reasonable concerns. However, I think the article is badly expressed and I don't know if they really offer solutions (maybe they did but I'm not reading another 500 words of bollocks because someone wants to write like a faux-intellectual wanker).
