I was never criticizing people for gaming, as I pointed out in my second post, I never said I assumed everyone who plays video games would be an addict, that's ridiculous, I was saying for M E P E R S O N A L L Y video games are generally a waste of time, anyone else can do whatever they want and I'll be fine with it, as long as they aren't hurting anyone. You guys are really reading way too much into what I said. And I was aggressive because he was being an asshole :)

I think it was the "Why play video games when you could be playing/listening to music? " tbh. That question seems directed at all of us which makes it seem like you are criticizing our hobby, which you are lets be honest. Sure it is your opinion, we get that but you are criticizing people for gaming. By stating that you think it is a waste of time and you question why people play games instead of playing/listening to music you are definitely having a go at gamers (you are putting a form of entertainment below another). Who says you can't listen to music while you have a harmonica in your mouth WHILE you are playing game btw! (I do it all the time) =P

You can state your opinion, just I wouldn't expect saying something like that in a gamer thread and not expect any cold replies.

Fair enough, I should have worded my first comment better. I definitely have nothing against gamers, I've got plenty of friends who are into that stuff, and far be it from me to say what's "good" and "bad" really, I've just found that for me it's a bit of a waste of time. Fun, sure, but not what I need to be doing.

Also i don't know if anyone mentioned it but from memory Red Faction is a game about workers uprising on Mars, i haven't played it since I was fourteen so my memory is really vague but I remember it being pretty good.

Final Fantasy VII will probably always be my favorite. It's just so classic.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas was simply amazing and I killed months on both games. I love most games but certain ones stick to me like Red Dead Redemption, Metro 2033, and the Mass Effect series.

Did Stalker some time, learned a bit about modding and importing custom content, then started contributing to fan-patches for the endless buglist, finally lost interest after we didn't succeed implementing something like a free play modus. Metro 2033 sounds interesting because of the atmosphere and art work, but I guess I wouldn't start playing again, only to get bored by the tightly scripted story.
And stalking the local metro in real life just got me fee'd for being there without a ticket - talk about mutants... :o

"stalker" still gives me nightmares about younger-sniper brothers sniping away hundreds of npc mutant dogs until its time for the famous "ouch, where the hell that one came from???!!!" restart game... :o

I'm personally into games set in a past-apocalyptic setting. fallout, stalker, ect. what are some really good ones? i've got Fallout 3/New Vegas, Stalker, L4D, GOW, anything to do with the total destruction of society :D
i'm also into horror games like Dead Space and FEAR! Oh and the assassin's creed series is pretty sweet.

Honestly, video games are how I vent when i'm pissed. if it wasn't for games ,i'd prolly be in jail :ecouteurs:

    Re: any good video games

num num num, play Leauge of Legends, it's free and fun, though there are many ass** playing it, including me

I can't recommend any other since my computer can't run anything else, which kinda makes me happy because it prevents me from becoming gamefreak, which I must say is a waste of time.

Just beat Red Dead Redemption, working through Undead Nightmare. Other than that, lots of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (still by far the best one) and Sonic Adventure both of which I got on Xbox Live Marketplace. I don't game all that much though. I'm generally disinterested in online games, which is all the Call Of Duty games really offer besides a brief campaign...Although I still do play Halo 3 online from time to time. It passes the time when I have absolutely nothing else going and is great for those hangover days.

Wow, just stumbled upon this thread now. Lots to read, not much time right now. PC games: FALLOUT 3 - classic, side with the mutants in Tenpenny Tower quest and enjoy the mayhem :lmao:
Oh and before you do that, go into the hotel suite where the married couple are having an argument and insult the guy's wife, and keep insulting her - fucking hilarious.

Dragon Age : Origins - playing as Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage - toughest motherfucker in the game.

    Black Ops - crap

Crysis 2 - compared to orig. Crysis sucks. Well it's ok but as a sequel it really should've been better.

Far Cry 2 - actually enjoy all the checkpoint - lots of "fascists" to kill.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SoC - rocks. Dig the "reallistic" physics of the sniper rifle.

Someone mentioned "Dead Space". That was a very intense game, kept me on edge constantly. Having those mining tools as weapons was a cool idea but I expected more when entering that military ship, some military grade weaponry and the interior should have looked different to that of the mining vessel.

Just thought of some more. Yea Mass Effect was good and Mass Effect 2 not as good.
I spent a hell of a long time playing Company Of Heroes (incl. Opposing Forces + Tales of Valor). An awesome game.
I think, if anything, war games really put me off the idea of going to join the marines or something :lmao:
It just demonstrates to me how easy it is to get killed. You know, one bullet to the head 'n your dead; or worse - crippled or mutilated. I really can't understand these people who think that war is cool :/
