it was a lot of uk82 stuff that got me into punk. I cannot turn my back on the classics, but there are a few that are carbon copies of each other, and thats when it gets boring. punk is punk, at least its not the casualties... :D

I was totally into it at the time,,Chaos UK were not "Fashion Punks"..They were smelly bastards..
I stayed in their squat for a short time in Bristol,,Bear from Lunatic Fringe stayed there too..
All the Bristol bunch were using terms like crusty etc..in the first half of the 80s..
I don't think the fuckers bathed since then..

    Disorder,,definitely not Fashion Punks either..

The Exploited,,Wattie done some daft stuff,,Fuck a Mod being one of them,
but The Exploited also were one of the bands at the forefront of the second wave..
Fucking brilliant live back then too..Other bands got off the ground supporting them..
So for me they are a mixed bag..Troops and Let's start a war sound great though I think..

As for all of these new sub genres,,WTF..I'm old school,,Punk is Punk..
I walked away when Punk was becoming about conformity rather than rebellion..
Now it has all of these labels..I have heard of D beat after Discharge..
People talk of Crust etc.."No they are a Crust band,,well I disagree they are a Blah,Blah,Blah"WTF..

Basically as a teenager,,what is now being called UK 82 was Punk that was it..
Most of the 77 bands had split or went really poppy..
That was Punk. for me..SO that was my scene and I hold it dear..I love a lot of the 77 stuff too.
    Thatchers Britain,,we were fucking angry..
Thought we were all going to die any minute in a nuclear holocaust..
A lot of that music reflected this..

Goatbreath i'm not older, and I couldn't agree more. It kills me when some "anarcho punks" who are supposed to be open minded individuals look down on other punks because of their musical taste.

Btw, just picked up chaos uk's four minute warning ep from a used record store!!!

I'm not a big fan of UK82, out of the bands KAAOS-82 posted, I only really enjoy maybe 8 or 9 of them, but I do feel like they have their place in punk history, along with bands like Crass, D.O.A., or Aus-Rotten.
For the most part, I don't like judging people based on their taste in music. Some of my friends listen to some godawful shite, and some of them probably think the same thing about what I listen to. But I will admit, I do think slightly less of people who wear GG Allen, Exploited or Casualties shirts and/or patches, unless they're young, then I try and teach them better .

I'm from Edinburgh Scotland,,The Exploited are one of our local bands..From Edinburgh..
My Attitude to them is mixed,,but they done a hell of a job kicking off the second wave of Punk...
They were really the biggest band in that whole thing,,so all the other stuff kind of rode on their coat tails..
Again being in a Edinburgh band myself,,you hear about Wattie being an overly strict disciplinarian..
Big John Duncan who played on the first 3 albums is a great guy..Really nice bloke..

GG Allen never heard of..Are the Casualties some type of Sub Green day shite...
Crass not my favourite band musically but this site probably would not exist if they hadn't formed..
Aus Rotten I heard recently,,I think they were quite good...

GG Allin is more famous for his on-stage antics than his music. If you have a weak stomach, I'd avoid researching him further.

Casualties are one of those bands that worry more about their 4-foot tall mohawks and street punk costumes than making music. The singer is rumored to have a sexual preference for young teen girls. If you've never heard them, I envy you. You're definitely not missing anything there. (Personally, i'd actually listen to early 90's Green Day over the Casualties any day.)

Is G.I.S.M. still together? I vaguely remember hearing a rumor their singer had ties to the Yakuza.

I personally like there fist two albums Surfer Rosa and Doolittle, they play an alternative rock style, and are all around good from vocals to music.
