Okay, so if a person likes Skrewdriver's music it makes him a Nazi? If a person likes Anal Cunt it means they're a sexist and a homophobe? If someone likes S.O.D. it makes them racist? NO! WHEN CAN MUSIC JUST BE MUSIC? Now I don't like Skrewdriver at all but my uncle does. He also completely disagrees with the whole nazi bulshit thing, but he likes their music. I do like Anal Cunt and SOD though, I like they're music. I'm NOT sexist, racist, or homophobic at all, I just think those 2 bands have good music. So, my point is that just because someone likes the sound of the band doesn't mean that they agree with their beliefs or meaning behind the songs. Also, don't you ever think that stuff is for shock value when it comes to some bands?

:lmao: you're wrong. There are a lot of bands which sound nearly the same as the one mentioned above. Why do you want to listen to bullshit like facism if you're against it ? This is a fucking joke, just becouse I wear boots with little swastika on swastika on them I'm a nazi ? Of course ! When you're against someone (aka "anti") you don't support that. We had this argument somewhere on this forum already, and it made me laugh. Skrewdriver is a nazi band, and it promotes facism and all the bad things that come with it. If you're listening to them, it means that you don't have a problem with that kind of music, and if you declare yourself as an anarchist you should have a problem, a big one. Anti-fascism includes fighting the music/massage in their songs. Remember, the only good fascist is the dead one, same goes for their music.

How can you like skrewdriver for the music? It's all the same old oi shit. And there's better bands to listen to for the music. There's plenty more non bigoted artists in any genre one can listen to.

If you listen to pro nazi music repetitively, even just for the music, you are still filling your brain with the hate message. If you sing along to it, you are spreading their cause. Claiming you can listen to racist/fascist music just for the music is total bullshit. Your uncle sounds like a fool, or a closet racist.

i had friends who liked "Skrewdriver" just for the music, but after i was gone to community college for a while, until i dropped out, and came back, racist slurs were commonplace in the house. They also owned a copy of Mein Kempf since then, so fuck that. Anyways, I was back around for a while and we got shit sorted out, but that was back in the mid to late 00's, 06-09

right, there is already a thread about scumdriver's shit, and a mate of mine wrote:

    viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4409&p=29241&hilit=screwdriver#p29241

Kicking the shit out of him for wearing his Rock-Against-Racism badge wasn't enough to make him wise, some time ago he had to leave his middle class paradise and joined our commune - and his trouble began - not with us, we only asked him to use his "poison cabinett" in private, nobody could tolerate it, but what he does in his room is his thing.
The real trouble started when the local boneheads - who like that shit like he did - saw him with us - too bad that he was all alone coming home with the tube one evening... and the bones were eight.
They payed dearly for that one, and after this he payed too - and scumdriver landed where it belongs to - in the trashcan...
Hope you and your uncle don't need to learn the hard way like him!

I was watching a documentary about white power music and there was a clip from a nazi-punk show in Germany and my mate said that the band sounded like my band. It was a fucking horrible the thing to say but kind of true. At the end of the day, there will be fascist/racist/whatever-phobe bands that play music that, on first listen, sound a lot like many bands that are known and loved in the anarcho scene. However, I think its difficult to find the bands still listenable once you know what they're about.

You see, I did really, really like SOD's Speak English or Die album. However, a lot if it is difficult for me to stomach now. Once I read the lyrics to 'Speak English or Die', 'Pre-Menstrual Blues' and 'Fuck the Middle East', I found it hard to listen to them again. Then I heard that the lyrical content is all about the attitude of the character 'Sergent D' and it is meant to bea parody or satire. Maybe, but then Milano has gone on to write other dodgy songs and have a go at ex-bandmate Scott Ian for being a jew and trying to rip him off because its in his jew-nature. And the horrible shit that tarnishes Milano is NOTHING on Seth Putnam of AxCx.

But, once again, there is a question of 'where do ya draw the line'? No Bad Brains as they're homophobes? No Ted Nugent because he's right-wing, gun-loving, moose-killing nutcase? No Black Sabbath because The Osbournes fucking sucked? Nothing with Dave Smalley in because he's come out as a conservative?

Trevor, Id be one of the few people who think you can listen to music just because its music, I have a friend that owns three screwdriver albums, he is not racist, hes not a nationalist, hes a crusty and hes also asian, he is an anarchist for all intensive purposes. I'm glad you bought this up because I disagree with a lot of bands views and opinions such as Conflicts views on animal rights or the idealism of bands like active slaughter. Saying you should ban people from listening to this music is like telling people they cant read Mein Kamph, why ban it? so long as you approach it with a realistic and open mind theres no problem with reading it. Some people on this forum believe peoples ideals are too easily swayed.

That's fucked up. There was a guy I used to know a little while back and he seemed really decent. Then on one occassion he started raving about Skrewdriver to a friend of mine. He wasn't at all racist but he liked to listen to them. My friend and I couldn't help but feel a little awkward around him after that. (We didn't ignore him or anything, he just seemed to drift away, like people do).

i listen to mostly non political music these days. go to my last.fm, not only is lil wayne is in my top 15 artists, i can also assure you you'll find both questionably NS bands and definitely NS bands in my library somewhere. i myself am biracial and believe that you should just listen to whatever the fuck you want, whether it be a racist message or a ridiculously capitalistic one or whatever. just listen to what sounds good to you i guess.

if you're an apolitical maybe i could understand but for fuck sake WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ANARCHISTS AND ANTIFASCIST on this forum... How the fuck can you listen to some nazi band that would beat you or even kill you if they saw you on the streets ?

what the fuck would you say if i was a fan of hitler's paints ? well it's the same thing with nazi music...

when you like a band you are ENCOURAGING it, how the fuck can you encourage what you're supposed to fight against ?

"music is music" is a fucking shitty excuse, i could also say "clothes are clothes" so it means i can wear a swastika t-shirt just because i like the artistic side of the nazi swastika not because i'm a nazi... Art is art and nazi is nazi..... NO. Everything is political, especially when you're an anarchist and an anti-fascist.

don't forget that neo-nazi music is NAZI PROPAGANDA.... it's those same bands that influence and encourage young kids to become nazis, some of them will commit violence acts and even murder.... How the fuck can you not be disgusted when listening and encouraging this shit ?

The comparison with mein kampf is another debate. Mein kampf have some historical interest while there is absolutly no interest in some lyrics saying "oi oi oi skinhead 88 sieg heil white power kill all jews hail hitler fuck black people 14/88 final solution oi oi skinhead 88"

encouraging people to see neo-nazi music as "just music" and that there is no problem to encourage them as long as you're not a racist is NORMALIZING white power music and this is very dangerous.

Anti-fascists are supposed to fight against white power music, right ? Our goal is to emilinate this kind of neo-nazi propaganda, right ? So how the fuck can you listen to what you want to destroy ? That's like eating at mcdonalds when you want to destroy it...

Ungov, would you recommend we raid indian stores and purge there fluorescent LED swastikas that they have in there windows just because some unsuspecting member of the public finds it offensive? I personally think nothing of Skrewdrivers music so I'm not going to defend their abilities, but I will defend Burzum since none of his music contains white power messages.

    Exactly!

I'm pretty sure there weren't nazis who were in support of civil liberties and other basic freedoms for all races/creeds, so there shouldn't be any flimsy positions on supporting nazi propaganda/music.
liking it for the music may be innocent, but the ideas it's supporting are not.

Agreed, but people have different tastes, if we replaced Nazi messages with Muslim or Christian messages would it be much different?

    understandably so.

To some, pro Muslim/Christian messages may be good and all, but, I think religious groups/sects are another form of control we can do without.

Why would an anarchist want to listen to shit like that? Seems to me, lyrics like that would piss you off too much to get into the music. Burzum is arguable (as there were no racialist lyrics and Varg was just a mentally sick person) but how can you like music with lyrics like "ni**er ni**er get on that boat" or "vote for hitler" that openly attack what you supposedly believe in? These are the lyrics boneheads are singing to themselves while they're murdering our comrades. How can that not just piss you off?

You're digging yourself a hole, kid.

    My bad english...
He actually still lives with us, HE THREW HIS SCUMDRIVER/NUTZI SHIT AWAY - because he felt he had to do it after fighting the scum with us to keep them off the street - bit of a revenge too...
These days he and some others spend lots of time organizing a 4skins-rock-o-rama-othershitlikethat boykott and urges the ol'piratebay to remove the nutzi torrents from their page.
THANK PUNK HE HAS LEARNED HIS LESSON - too bad that it had to be the hard way.
