Well, dude, I'm glad you got into punk at an even younger age than I did. And fuck the other kids, you won't even see them after you finish school. I just think you posted this in the wrong thread. :p

I'm not trying to call my kid fat or anything, but I swear he did a little dance in his highchair when I gave him cornbread this morning.

a dirty trick i found out to break conservative eating habits: eat the same stuff you offer him yourself while he's watching you... there is a high chance that he will try to mimic your behavior and kinda eating contest starts, during which he just forgets about protest - or dancing.
doing funny little shows, like "vanishing" pieces of food with the mouth and - tata!! - presenting empty hands might help to raise his interest and eagerness - and don't forget to demand an immediate bonus performance if he manages to get the trick working!

...our girls retreated to their room when i started listening to the Rezillos half a hour ago, complaining about the volume - but they too dance something they call "tango" every time they hear ska.

    @danzigmcfly
we too think about what will happen if we start the girls "outer" life next year because we send them to kindergarden and to school somewhere after that. our conflict is somewhere between:

they have to find their own way, all we can do is to keep them going and not getting stuck.
    vs.
we support the anarchist character they already show and help them to become what they are.

both sides have a big ? behind them and we weren't able to find a compromise between both positions, there is toomuch to consider and too much we can't be sure about.
i guess in some years we will look back and see that the way the girls went will be quite different to what we expect now - if we expect anything.
last week they surprised me with a statement that they are anarchists now and we (the adults) have no right at all to make decisions for them without their participation - WOW!

i asked them what an anarchist is in their opinion - answer from all three: i am an anarchist (too).

somehow i missed the point where they started working on what they overhear from us when we were discussing things in their presence - and this statement came so unbelievable clear and self-aware
    - from three 2 year old girls...
we know that they benefit from the way we choose to live - but we did the choice as adults (more or less), the girls are still kids and still enjoy the protective inside of the community, even if they have lots of contacts with friends and peers from the outside, but even then it's again the same social status they are confronted with. going in the outside is a big ? or a multitude of ??? - and we still don't know how to deal with that.

guess it's: you are no parent but you hate your parents? I wouldn't call it puberty bullshit, it's only the problem of your "inbetween" age now and believe me:
It will be better if you start standing on your own feed and aren't that depending anymore - oh xxx, how I hated debates about the time I should come home in the evening - my mum...
Hope you remember that hate when your kids are the age you are now!
If you manage this, they won't have a reason to hate you...

They decided to be frogs in the evening and started croaking (smiling sid joined them without giving a statement) so we had a croaking debate about "are beds kinda frog ponds especially made for tired frogs or not" - half an hour later they were sleeping frogs...
Guess because they are anarchist frogs too, smart and able to see and do the necessary at the right moment... :ecouteurs:

Right, and I wish you would have seen the flower of our youth standing side by side with their turkish friend while we were out shopping and some fucking redneck asshole made remarks about me and the kid standing in the checkout line - the asshole turned red and left without a further word when they finished him off with an angry "Blödmann!"...

I love hearing stories about your girls. Part of me can't wait for my son to be that age.

Blödmann means stupid fool in german, it's the least offending term we could agree upon with the young ladies after they seem to develop part of their creativity in making up names to call people they don't like. some of their peers play a not too constructive role in this developments too, a few days ago the girls came up with something gay's won't take easy and eagle owls do not deserve - i don't want to go in details, but it was time for a social contract with the youth brigade again:
we don't call them "little" anymore, the right term is "young" in future - and their part of the agreement is to use blödmann to express their anger about people and do so without any creative appendixes in the future.

in the meantime i heard the story about the blödmann making his idiot remarks about gobble and one of their best friends - who is a three years old and almost blind turkish girl - from somebody else too:
oh yes, our girls did get veeeeery angry very fast and even with their body height still appropriate to their age they resembled somehow a trinity of celtic war goddesses, when all three made front as one against the blödmann - green eyes flashing with rage and anger...
it was impressing when it happend and we know what they are capable of if they think there is something wrong, but amongst the community here it's a completly different thing - they know us and even if it's sometimes not that friendly or constructive, there are "limits" how far the girls will go - and we won't go that far. we don't live in a pink and light blue paradise, the tone gets sometimes a bit rough and angry between the adults, and it's okay that way because most of the time we live together with respect and care for each other and this bond is preventing the odd overkill reaction. amongst us adults i think we can argue and have fights, but the girls enjoy a little more protection and regard for their age.
the girls benefit from this and they are self-conscious and ask for respect if they feel the need - on the other side they have to learn that they have to respect any other living being too - as long as possible and according to the situation:
"leave them alone and shut up" would have been better than "blödmann", no doubt that is was right to take sides and "defend" gobble and the girl - but being that young and calling a stranger names isn't really... can't find a word for it.
yes, they are promising, but they will have to learn to use their abilities in the right way, especially in dealing with strangers or the "outside" in general.
i used the bonobo example in the other tread - female bonobos are smaller and as an individual less threatening than male bonobos - if one female gets attacked or threatened by a big male, the small females gang up with each other and prevent the fight only with the threat of numbers... and this way they dominate the group too, bonobos live in matriarchat, the boss is always xx.
it's not very anarchist, even if we think that staying together side by side against aggression and oppression is the way to defend against and abolish domination finally.
the girls have to learn to use it the right way, we could only support them learning it - everything else would be repression or brainwashing - so the problem is "how" to do it because they are so young.
looking at their brief "frog" intermezzo - they are using the "childish" view of things to resist against unpopular requests from us adults. for them frogs don't sleep in beds, even if they are tired like hell and barely able to keep their eyes open - we don't want to go to bed now, so we are frogs... we can deal with that, making up some funny story about frog ponds to sleep in - and with a little discussion they agree and go to sleep because they are tired.
but ganging up to get something they don't really need or against somebody not out of self-defence... it's completely different and the trouble with parental authority, anarchist attitude ect. starts again... whats necessary, what...
yes, despite everything else it's amazing and i don't want to miss it, even if it's difficult and more than that, because we have constantly to reconsider ourselves - they learn from us and we have to learn to teach them the right way.
but watching them trying to talk with a raven searching for food in the backyard at noon... thats the other side again. :D
and i wish i could have recorded their description "hooooow blaaaack this raaaaven is" - because Aishe couldn't see him, so they had to tell her...

Agreed. Really cool and sweet stories. It is interesting to wonder how things will develop as the girls get older. Still, you can't help but be impressed by their sense of justice in sticking up for their friends.

I don't know if I have said this before but I won't be having kids. This is not an anti-human thing, this is a 'there's enough of us already' thing. I'd consider adoption or fostering but I'm certainly not ready at the moment, financially and personally with my health being what it is. I did, in the past, consider getting a visectomy but it never really became necessary and now the treatment I'm going through has made me infertile, so that's that issue dealt with. I did freeze some sperm though because if I do find myself in a future relationship with someone who really 'feels the need to have my children' (I can't imagine such a thing), at least I never had the arrogance to ignore the considerations of that potential being. Also, I consider my personal attitude just that - personal. I don't think people are wrong to have kids, it's just very much not for me. So, if I ever elaborate please don't think I disapprove of you parents out there (I actually think its pretty), it's just something a couple of years back I knew I would not choose.
