So, my friend has been into these guys recently, and told me about them...
are they really all about revolution/anarchism etc, or are they just another corporate shitshow?

I dunno, they've been around for about 20 years. I read an article on them back in the late 90s, telling how neo-nazis had infiltrated the german techno scene. At one ATR show, a bonehead got up on stage and started sieg heiling to which Alec Empire smashed a beer bottle across the boneheads face. Sounds promising to me.

I also heard they used to sample Cockney Rejects, or Cock Sparrer....or maybe something else with a "cock" in it :p I could be confused on that part.

thanks for the insight Jack! apparently they did get a big record deal, but used the money to create their own recording company, and like you said, are anti-nazi, with semi-anarchist lyrics. definitely not anarcho-punk.net material though.

I'm not a follower of techno, so all I really know about ATR is what I've read in magazines in the 90's.

True, but Chumbawumba allowed their song to be used in a car commercial in the late 90's/early 2000's. Supposedly they used the money to fund anarchist causes or something like that. Their albums are still linked on here, though I'm sure not the major label ones.

There's bands with less than that going on for them (black flag, minor threat etc.) in the "other downloads" section. I wouldn't say their albums weren't APN material, aside from the majors.

The few songs I've heard weren't bad, I'm just not too sure if I'd want to download/upload the albums, I'm not really that big a fan. I'd be glad to find them and upload them for APN, but other than that I was just curious. thanks again.

I like 'em. Being Digital Hardcore and Anarchists (or close enough) I don't see why they shouldn't be in the Anarcho-Punk section.

well, once I get home from work, i'll find their best albums and contribute.
    thanks all.

since it's technically "digital hardcore" with techno/dance influences, should I upload it under non-punk anarcho, or just regular anarcho?

They wrote Hetzjagd Auf Nazis (hunt down and kill the Nazis), Revolution Action, Your Uniform (does not impress me), amongst other great tracks and as Butcher showed they played at a riot against Nato back in '99. I know they are very political and I am pretty sure they are awesome. Obviously not "punk" as one might define it in a purely musical sense but I would say they would fit into punk culture. I know they sampled If the kids are united by Sham 69 for Kids are united! So if that gives them more "punk" points you know feel free to use 'em

I fucking love them, used them to keep a gaggle of World Bank and IMF delegates up at 3:30am a several years ago at their hotel during a friendly anarchist soccer game. I am sure they loved them too, were supposed to have their big meeting but delegate vans got delayed severely and I am sure they got a poor nights sleep. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Personally I was not a techno fan until I heard ATR then I got hooked and have added a little more techno to my repertoire.

Midijunkies gonna fuck you up...what more do ya need
